- Who cares what the air-heads in LA think of our gem of a film. Us Brits know a good thing when we see it, so stay in your seats 'Crash' cast and crew - Brokeback Mountain is the BEST FILM!
Brokeback deserved an Oscar goes to a simple fact that people still talk about it and how it affected them and the society. Crash is just in memories of people because it won an Oscar when brokeback clearly deserved more.
Sorry for bad English its not my first language.
Absolutely
Totally agree -----from 2023
I also agree in 2023.
This is why I love the UK more.
this film deserves to win every award poissible....its a classic
Brokeback montain one of the best films in history
Congrats Brokeback Mountain, best movie of 2005 or maybe this decade, truly deserving!!!
You’re gay
Heath Ledger was also robbed of the Best Actor Oscar for his "Brokeback Mountain" performance. Shameful.
Agree his best performance
Great performance…But Daniel Day Lewis in There Will be Blood have arguably the best acting performance ever! Without a doubt the most deserving and unsurprising oscar in acting history!
@@jackvlahos5097 wrong year, buddy.
Nah, Philip Seymour Hoffman deserved it for Capote. Heath Pedger was brilliant, but Hoffman was on a whole other level.
Thanks guys, god bless you Great Britain for this great decission!!
Brokeback Mountain deserves a lot more of honour.
This film is breathtaking authentic and no pseudo-dramatic Hollywood production.
Brokeback deserved the oscar! But if any movie was worth the oscar that year apart from BM it was Munich, not Crash!!! Crash was lame in many aspects. Only some American critics saw Crash as a great film. It was so basic
Crash was a movie of the week with a story that a child could have written. It was the homophobia of the Academy which couldn't give the award to a gay story.
atleast the BRITISH got it right
They award their first. Oscar waits until everything else is done and then announce their most-of-the-time very questionable set of winners.
Brokeback mountain is a love story....it just happens to be a love story between two men.
If you're not the kind of person who likes love stories then obviously it would be boring
Heath was the greatest actor
ever
its a beautiful film.
this bafta was definitely deserved.
god bless ur soul Heath..we will never 4get u..and now ur a lengend..after playing the JOKER..way2go
i love BBM and im so glad that here in the UK we gave it the award it deserves!:-)
Puh-lease. I don't like man on man films but Brokeback was something magical. Heath's performance, was such a tremendous talent, even overshadowing the rest of his co-stars. For me, his performance is better than his Joker's. Then comes the direction, sound and locations. This movie is something of a marvel that made Crash look mediocre in front of it in my opinion.
Before the Academy Awards, BBM at that point was the MOST honored film in cinema history. It was shocking that it didn't win the Oscar. It was definitely due to politics and homophobia. People who can appreciate quality film know what a travesty this was. Crash is magnitudes of orders inferior to a film like BBM. Crash insulted my intelligence and left me pissed off. I'm sure it would have done well at a people's choice award voted by 4th graders..."oh cool, everything is connected..wow" duh
thank god they won something... was really disappointed when they didn't win the oscar for this movie
I still remember how Brokeback Mountain made me feel. But Crash? What's Crash? I don't remember anything.
Bittersweet but mostly heartwarming to see Heath Ledger in awards clips for different award ceremonies around the world, post his passing.
i love that film and i love Heath Ledger!!;)♥
The only screaming I recall was that of Jay Leno and those who made a big deal about two men kissing. Brokeback was one of the finest films to come along in a long while, too subtle perhaps for those who are accustomed to "let me tell you what you should be thinking now" storylines (like Crash). BBM is beautifully nuanced and weaves many complex themes without verbalizing every last thing for the view, rare nowadays.
Thank you so much for posting this.
Crash still sucks! I saw Brokeback again for the umpteenth time last night on TV and it still makes me cry. A true icon of a movie. The only thing Trash is an icon of is the Dollar DVD Bin at WalMart.
That's so unfair & it's 2011 and I'm still mad!
They should have won Oscar best picture and Heath Ledger was way better than PSH. As for Jake Gyllenhaal , I never though him much of an actor until then! He totally should have W O N! Clooney was shallow
0:25 Ralph💕
Crash is a fine movie, it's just that Spike Lee has done any number of films about race with so much more depth and complexity than that movie. Crash is fluff, maybe well done fluff with some good performances, but still fluff.
Brokeback Mountain is one of the best movies of the decade in my opinion. It's so beautiful and so emotional.
BBM is an all-time great, doing quite well in the best of the decade lists of the past 18 months (top 5 when you compile, with There Will Be Blood, Mulholland Drive and Eternal Sunshine). Crash is a bad film, period, and even Paul Haggis said BBM should have won. The BAFTAs, the Critics, even the Globes have far more integrity than the Academy of the past 20 years, its all about politics for them.
I watched both Brokeback Mountain and Crash, and thought Brokeback Mountain was better than Crash.
But that's just my opinion.
It´s a scandal that it didn´t get the Oscar! I´m still disappointed.
this will always be ICONIC
The story is a universal love story between 2 persons. It is unversial in the sense that the love itself is intrinsically no different from any other love. However, what's unique is that, given the time and places in the story, this love was burdened/tortured by social intolerance, taboo, fears, and ignorance. It's a very delicate and compelling story-telling. If you think you can just replace the 2 gay characters with 2 straight men, obviously you didn't spend any time to understand the story.
Wait. Who chooses who wins a BAFTA? Is it like people's choice where you get to vote, or is it like an oligarchy similar to the Oscars? Sorry. American here...
It's like the Oscars, there is a British Academy.
those seats look well comfy.
Rupert in the background, love him ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Forget the Oscars, even the masses don't uphold Brokeback Mountain as a breakthrough film. They don't even admit to seeing it. It's up to the gays and liberals to keep Brokeback alive. If it manages to stay that way, I believe there will be people talking and applauding this film 50 years from now.
Secreto en la montaña es una de las mejores películas de amor ❤️
@roger8654 You obviously havent watched the movie or just dont really understand the meaning it had to the many people who did. It was such a touching love story hey maybe some did want it to win because of what you said, but for alot of others, it was because the movie showed a struggle between two PEOPLE who loved each other but fear and society held them back. Its touching because its so real, and just so haunting.
those leopard-print seats are sweet.
Till this day I dont understand how Crash won.

I wouldn't say the people who voted for Crash weren't intelligent. Just... easily manipulated emotionally, though no one can deny that Crash was the escape ticket for some people who refused to vote for Brokeback.
wow at 00:56 u can see rupert grint from harry potter (ron weasly ) wow he is soooo hooooooot .
The description: agreed!!
at least the BRITISH got it right..shame AMERICANS got it wrong...
@bamanck & thats the reason BB should´ve won the oscar...its about homosexuals...right!...its a deep story?...yes...its polemical?...yes...it have changed the way of thinking about homosexuality in people? yes, its revolutionary?..yes...so.. sorry.. is not overrated.
Without those "air heads" in LA you wouldn't even have BBM. But I agree that BBM should have won Best Picture. But in the end who gives a fuck about awards?
Not saying the Brokeback Mountain wasn't deserving, but there's no need to rip the intelligence of people who happened to vote for Crash.
brokeback mountain IS a better story, simply because it IS between two men. The film isn't just about banging secretely in a tent, its all about having such a deep, passionate secret that if anyone were to find out it would destroy everything. The film is different, and there isn't much else like it out there on the market. Then again, Crash is really unique too, but i enjoyed brokeback mountain more tbh.
@Kass1964
No, because they both got married, but stayed in touch and met up later on as well. Life is complicated.
I've noticed several of your negative comments regarding the UK and it's connotational meanings. You obviously know nothing of the Oscars if you think they "...are watched all over the world." Have you not noticed for the last decade the miserly viewing figures in the United States? And, how do you know they are watched all over the world?
BTW, if you're "LMAO", as an American, you probably need the exercise!
WHAT"S VOLDEMORT DOING AT 0:25 ?
man thats sad to see heath ledger again
What states banned the film? That is completely ridiculous. We are so sheltered here, it is like some people live under a damn rock. So embarrassing.
atometent should have won the oscar for best picture, but it won the bafta.
I feel sadness and literal heart pain when I read your responses. Would it be different if they were construction workers!?
the voters were anti-gay. crash is a good movie, worth the nomination not the award

@DreamgirlM It's also a scandal that Heath Ledger lost Best Actor to Philip Seymour Hoffman.
@MisSeductive
that may well be so, although certainly the interest in Oscars has been declining, possibly because they've been choosing so miserably. anyway, isn't it rather superficial to say specifically that it's more important how "big" an award is than whether the right movies are honoured? that comment alone gives you a pretty clear picture of what the Oscars are worth - not much, if their "bigness" accounts for more than their actual choices. May I suggest that you missed the point?
'Crash' is for homophobes; 'Brokeback Mountain' is for everyone else.
Forget it...The Academy made tons of mistake before..So far, Brokeback Mountain is the only classic that i've seen..
Rupert Grint 0:54!! :D
Who’s the woman @ 0:55?
poor mr.fiennes looks pretty bummed out
@Alberto9871 Me too! Would it be useless to demand a recount at this point? :)
0.16 u know heath is on sumfin...
samiam he has anxiety
@jslasher1 wait which version and how bad could it be
in my own humble opinion, 'crash' was shit. BB was honest and brave and beautiful :)
@Kass1964
No, "Brokeback Mountain" is about the closet and the horrors of what living in it can do to people.
(2) Michael Pena scenes with his family,Matt Dillon's scenes with Terrance Howard and Thandie Newton were the only things that saved this movie for me (and that intense crash scene with Matt and Thandie.the rest was predictable dialogue and story lines and racial jabs,it got boring. Now BBM,nothing like it before, nor there will be again. Its a tragic love story..look pass the "gay coyboys" (thats all people say about it) most people who trash it havent seen it, or cant get over 2 dudes together
@jslasher1 whats crash?
It's the gay shepard movie. haha, so funny!
I haven't even seen Brokeback Mountain and I love it more. I've never hated a Best Picture winner more than Crash. The bottom of the barrel. You want a film about racism that doesn't insult your intelligence, rent La Haine or even Do The Right Thing. Not that Paul Haggis dreck.
Че он говорит ?
Crash was a joke. It was the absolute worst Best Picture winner. "There's a Chinaman under the van"? What crap! Brokeback Mountain was very moving and all the parts you thought were boring...you were actually missing something.
Not Brokeback Mountain fans....Heath's fans....if you're not his fan what are doing here? This is what I mean!!...ah...sorry?...
@Alberto9871 There's really no justice for the wronged.
@chitownchill Agreed. Brokeback director Ang Lee won the Best Director Oscar, but the film loses...Heath Ledger loses to the terribly overrated PSH.
as per usual, lol!!
I hate the"politically correct" of some comments here....
Crash = Trash u_U!! Brokeback is the best!! film ever!
I think that I'm the only person here who thinks that crash deserved to win
this was robbed at the oscars fucking crash okay good film but no where near as good as this xxxx
nothing new or original? Not sure what you menat by that. I'm sure, at least, the screen play is original instead of plagiarism. I would say the story line is new as I've not read another story that's the same or similar. Otherwise, you can pretty much say the same thing ("nothing new and original") about just every single movie (including every single heterosexual love movie).
How predictable!
Shhh. You could also have kept your mouth shut ^^
it is boring for ignorant people who can't follow a story line
WHY?? Grow-up
LOL at "forget the Oscars". More like "who gives a fuck about the BAFTAs". There's a reason why the Oscars are watched all over the world. It is every actor's dream to win an Oscar. The Oscars are bigger than EVERY other award show out there combined, period. Who cares if they don't get it right all the time, people still wait every year to find out who's winning an Oscar, not who's winning a BAFTA. LMAO.
BAFTAs are for UK as Oscars are for US. I think BAFTA has more credibility.
Crash was a great film. Get over it.
@arizona799 So what? Crash SUCKS
Forget BAFTA Crash WINS Best Picture Oscar. Oscars beats BAFTA any day.
(1)i found crash pretentious and overdone, ike Ludacris's character...really? annoying and overdone,no one acts like that,it could have been Oscar worthy, but they overdid the racial themes, and the script at times was silly. i couldnt help but laugh at Sandra Bullock's rant about the lock, something about the locksmith's "homies breaking in".or Don Chedle saying "i gotta go im having sex w/ a mexican".stupid.
the only reason people wanted BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN to win was because gay couples, we all know how tolerant people want to be of gay couples. if it wasnt about a gay cowboy they're wouldnt be a problem that crash won, honestly crash to me was way better
Crash was better
