    Hi John great video im getting an older model D24 with electric boiler which suits my situation, with a disability, will allow me to enjoy steam without the fire aspect, really enjoyed watching cheers from Australia 🇦🇺

    Usually due to too much water in the boiler, but you say that the boiler is not over-filled.
    I find that with these engines, filling the boiler to just above the half-way mark is ideal.
    Using the whistle when the engine is running fast will still blow out water though. It helps if you can lower the flame once the engine is hot. Using gas will allow you to do this.

    Very nice D24, still a great engine!

    Very nice engine. And I agree, they make the moving parts much too slim, I prefer the rugged chunkyness of those old machines.

    That is normal. Just turn the flywheel slowly until the excess water and oil come out of the exhaust. Do not use force to turn the engine over. Water is hard to compress and could damage the engine.

    Nice video man! I'm Getting a Wilesco D405. Yes, not a stationary engine, but I like to watch any steam engines :)

    Lovely model I'm getting a D16 for Christmas I can't wait on the other guys comment you said you could use silicone tube to make the steam come out of the smoke stack but it's not a good idea because the water condences inside and goes everywere

    Nice video! No governor, or did you take it off? Mine slings oil as it's an earlier model #242, what viscosity oil do you use in the bearings? It surely is a powerful machine and big compared to the D202 that I have which also slings oil.

    Awesome video! Do you have any tips for keeping the boiler dry when not in use? Thanks!

    Hi, What's the name/model of that electric generator at the back you've got there for the steam engine

    Hello John de Giorgio, I wanted to ask you a question about the exhaust steam of the Wilesco D8: Can you run the exhaust steam right back into the boiler?? Thanks.

    • @calypso22
      @calypso22  Před 10 lety +1

      Not back to the boiler, but to the smoke stack, perhaps.
      You could route some silicone tubing from the exhaust to the base of the chimney,

      Alright. Im sorry to hear that. I thought that maybe you could get rid of the exhaust steam to guide it right back into the boiler. Thanks!

      @calypso22  Před 10 lety

      Well, come to think of it, you could, but your setup would have to include a water pump and a clack valve (one-way valve) connection on the boiler. This is normally used to top up the water in the boiler from a separate water tank..
      You could then feed the exhaust to the water tank where it would condense back to water and eventually be fed back into the boiler.

    I'm sorry Sabah, but it's part of my collection and not for sale.
    They do appear on eBay sometimes however.

    Just a medium sized gas burner.

  • @calypso22
    @calypso22  Před 13 lety

    No reason why it shouldn't work OK with Esbit. It does come with an Esbit burner. :)
    Never use the stuff myself. Too smelly and no control to speak of.
