- Authorities in Los Angeles are investigating the theft of around 30 million dollars from a money storage facility. Thieves broke into the building on Easter Sunday undetected - the missing money wasn't discovered until workers opened the vault on Monday. The facility stores cash from local businesses. DW spoke to Journalist and crime reporter Jon Baird who was on the scene of the heist in Los Angeles.

I'm a Former Gardaworld employee and will tell you this was a inside job. How? Because they treat their employees like garbage and they don't pay their employees well. Also their alarm system is not state of the art, if it was, it wouldn't of been turned off to easily.
I'm not well paid, but not reason for me to steal.
To be fair, no alarm in the world can stop an inside job, depending who you get involved.

Just divide the money evenly and split up, everyone goes his own way, don’t quit your job, keep doing your regular job. And most importantly, don’t spend money on big expensive items and let everything cools down.
I'm sure there's an alert out for anyone depositing large sums of cash since most folks use checks or credit cards. Foreign exchange outside the USA would be less obvious.

The reporter explained it was not an alarm that would have brought the police out, so that means somebody with the company was on the call list that should've been notified. It is not freshly printed, it's from stores... I doubt that they hire people to write down all of the serial numbers...
It's because plumbers and carpenters or whatever don't suddenly turn into expert thieves capable of carrying out a crime like this. The FBI are probably already familiar with whoever carried out this theft. They probably have a shortlist of potential perpetrators already. It's just a matter of zooming in on the right ones and gathering evidence. Informants may even give specific names. Imagine trying to spend 30 million without anyone noticing you're suddenly a lot wealthier. So even if the FBI aren't monitoring them directly, the people around them are, and some people will get on the phone, then the FBI soon will be.
Ppl get caught because they went from earning 40,000 a year struggling to pay bills then pulling up in Range Rovers and buying expensive things and flashing cash… that’s the easiest way to get caught trying to launder money😂

I did security in my 20s while waiting to become a Sheriff. That they did not have guards walking the perimeter when they were closed is proof that it was a inside job. I remember in the 80s in New York the Bread Truck company was hit for Millions and they got busted by blowing money in the Bahamas.
