Even more translation: Time passes very fast, and it's unforgiving: i'm 21 now, and am getting older (laughs) ... I'm getting more and more into opera.... I am enjoying listening to old records... I have a collection of the old opera and ballet performances ...Rossinni, Rigoletto.... but more than anything else Italian opera...I'm deeply moved, affected by it... Little by little I come to understand what a tremendous form of art that is... I was born in Vladivostock, more specifically village Tavrichenko, Primorsky Region. Later I moved to and lived in Dnepropertrovsk, went to school in Minsk, and worked as a professional dancer in Moscow. I always felt comfortable in Moscow; every time I'm going away, I come back here as if coming back home.

More translation: What I value most in the role of Spartacus is its genuine feeling, authenticity. In this ballet, there is no movement purely for the movement's sake. Every dance movement is meaningful... the character I play is not really just a historic character; Spartacus's story is timeless, truly contemporary....If we imagine the same historic conditions of the past today, this is exactly the way Spartacus would have behaved today. Today I feel more confident in playing the role of Spartacus, because I matured both as a dancer and as a person. Besides that, the character of Spartacus is truly timeless, the one which will continue touching hearts and affect imagination of the audiences forever.

More and more translation: In the past four years I've been to many countries: Cuba, US, Great Britain, Germany, Italy, Spain... but however exciting those countries might be, Moscow, and Bolshoy Theatre specifically, remain my home. I receive many invitations from professional ballets troupe to participate in various projects all over the world, and I am forever thankful to my managers for the opportunity to grow professionally in getting involved with those projects. Last season I danced in the premiere by choreographer Roland Petits, in particular work in "Young Man and Death", which was especially interesting. This is 1946' ballet which was previously danced by such extraordinary performers as Rudolf Nuriev and Barishnikov. I was immensely moved by an offer to dance this role. One thing is to admire others to dance this role; and it is a completely different story to try to give this role my own personal interpretation. It affected me physically and psychologically to try to represent the emotional turmoil of a young man that led him to suicide. The ballet is extraordinary, and the music by Bach is superb. The choreographer Roland Petites, a living ballet history, helped me to understand deeper the main character's story. He also personally got involved with choosing the costume for the personage. One day I showed up for the rehearsal wearing plain jeans, and it gave him an idea about the main character's costume. I will never forget work on this project.

Thank you, really enjoyed it. Some kind person did a bit of translation . I know it’s a while ago now. I heard he was doing choreography because his back gave out. Many things go around. Wonderful, wonderful dancer and he seemed so nice and genuine ( even though I couldn’t understand a word. I can ‘feel’ it in his dancing ). Thank you again 🙏🙏🩰🩰👵🇦🇺

More translation: In the morning, there is no time for opera: I'm usually late for rehearsal. Only at night I finally get time to listen to the opera records. You see, deep down I am hopeless romantic! In December I'm going to Rome to dance in "Orlean Virgin". Roland Petits thinks that I am perfect for the role, and I am honored for the offer to dance it. My female partner will be a local ballet dancer. What does it mean to be a superstar? Needless to say, this status by itself is meaningless. I feel that what is more important is to be down to earth and enjoy simple things in life like friendship. Without friendship life is pointless and difficult. So main goal is NOT the status. I am simply happy for the opportunity to be able to work and to be able to do it to the best of my abilities; and to derive pleasure while doing it.

Translation: Of course, a lot changed in my life: i became a premiere ballet dancer of my troupe. It doesn't mean additional privileges; on the contrary, responsibilities. I am solely responsible for everything that I do... I've finished full four seasons here... going on my fifth... those were difficult four years... fruitful nonetheless... and they passed so fast.... Many changes occurred... to jump higher is not a main purpose of dance anymore...I am more interested in playing dramatic roles.

Was the piece where he's bare-chested and in jeans "Le Jeune Homme et La Mort"? Also, what was the one where his costume looked somewhat bird-like with lots of fringe or maybe feathers? Would love to see a full Spartacus and whatever the piece was where he's wearing jeans. Thanks for posting! I just can't get enough of him!
