i found their website and it $40,000 from my understanding to gain a membership and you have to pay a annual fee of around 5k a year.

They have driver's school, but I usually go to their PDX days that SCCA run. You can get an instructor in your car and they can help you out. Plus it's a lot cheaper than driver's school and you have the ability to not have an instructor after a session or two.

Check the SCCA Chicago Region website for event dates. In my opinion the SCCA is the best HPDE event for beginners. The rate is not too expensive, you can get a one day membership which will apply to a years membership if you like, instructors are available, and pizza for dinner afterwards.
