Wow! Thank you for explaining this!!! I am Persian and Hispanic and have been asked to leave a few "Christian" classes for this EXACT argument. My father left Islam after becoming educated about the bible and the covenants. Mom was a Catholic Dad was a Muslim bith became "born again" but it just never made sense to me.
