Thank you! I was impressed you did that all with your pretty nails. I am sure you have already applied the grease by now…. But from my experience, only use a minute amount. I applied too much and had to go back in and wipe off the excess. Thanks again!

You're welcome. I ended up having to replace the lid lock. This was only a temporary fix for me, but I replaced it in another video myself. I fix everything myself, too. These repair services charge way too much & half the time they rig them to breakdown so that they can make another repair.

I just cleaned those brass contact strips, my left side one was oxidized-green pretty bad, couldn't removed the damages that causes into the brass but HECK IF IT DIDNT WORK with a cotton swab for the ear and some 91% alcohol. Dialectic grease is next if anything happens with the restored connection that worked.. ONE MORE THING --> When I pressed power on after plugging back in the washer still went to error fast on-boot... so I quickly HELD DOWN the start button for a few secs and then it remained on the screen for your options.. unpressed it and pressed that again and the lock worked like a charm. Thanks for this video!

Thank you so much for this video!!! I hate to go into a sob story, but my pregnant wife was just in a head on accident she broke her arm and the baby is ok , so times just got tough, I don't have money for the part right now and your video helped me patch the washer until I can buy the right part. I did break some plastic clips while doing this otherwise I'd just run it without caring

  • @jeffsonsmith7288

I had the same error code, but cleaning the areas shown in the video did not fix the problem. I had some corrosion on the little circuit board that was inside this mechanism. I had to the replace the entire assembly. My machine works fine after the new lock assembly was installed. Good, informative video, just be advised this may not fix the problem.

I'm surprised your washer would run without having both water hoses hooked up. The generation of Whirlpool washers before yours would not . Those checked for water flow from both hoses before they'd start. I've worked on these machines for the last 15 years and they get cheaper and cheaper all the time. When Whirlpool made their direct drive washers starting in 1984 ( I believe that was the year) they were great. Everything since has been going downhill and the machines like yours (introduced in 2015) are horrible. Get ready for needing a new gear box, clutch, shifter, interface panel and main control board. I'm old fashion, 79 years old, but your nails are awesome and so are you. Cheers.

No, I've had zero leaks with the machine. There might also be something else going on with your machine that the error codes aren't showing. If you can get under your machine check your seals they may be where the leak is coming from.

I bought a Maytag Bravios washer and it has the same lid lock assembly and have regretted the purchase every day since. You would think a washer that costs over $800 would wash closhes quickly and make them clean. But every day I hear ding ding ding and I have to waste valuable time screwing around with the wash machine. It is the worst washer I have ever owned or used in my entire life !!!

It definitely breaks down a lot. I've had to replace several parts. You have to do deep water washes to get clean clothes with this machine which defeats the purpose of "efficient."
