Thanks for so much more info than Samsung published in the Gear360 Manual that I found on the DEV site.
In less than 7 minutes you have saved me from hours more of frustration by neither connecting my Moto Droid Turbo or Wifeys GS5 (neither is compatible with the Gear360 Manager App. Furthermore your commentary about "seeing what your shooting" being important also helped (like the old school SLR's I grew up with, except you could see what you shot but then you had to have the film developed and the pics processed). does anyone know if I can put together 360 content with normal classic content in an editing process? For example you have MOV videos from a 5D mark3 and you want to mix them with samsung 360 shots at certain part in the overall video. How you can keep the 360 feature having it rendered into a new file (what format?) This is the way how you could use this feature efficiently, I believe. What do you think?.

I can't say anything on the competition but I just got my 360fly (the special friends and family discount $499 bundle price which includes the #virtualreality headset and POV pole. I love the magnetic docking station (super cool, easiest dock I have EVER used.) Uses all Go Pro mounts so no buying all the new accessories. They are running the discount bundle again after the first trade show in Atlantic City. 360fly has almost 3 hours of video. It shoots 360 degrees horizontal and 280 vertical (which is fine for me, I don't need anyone seeing my feet!)

Guys any1 can help me? I need to record almost 24h/day with a 360* cam connected to a PC (both for normal video recording on HDD and for FB 360 live stream) and, because the camera would be put in a location difficult to reach, i need to Tun On/Off camera/recording from the Pc...

I'm not a fan of Samsung so I'll be waiting for something that's compatible with my Nexus 6P and wait for the prices to drop soon hopefully. I would really like 360 video for security more than anything.
+rsilinnyc it'd be interesting to Dr Google come out with one but in the meantime the other ones I mentioned work with your Nexus and there's even cheaper ones if you don't want 4K. Check out the link in the description for more.
You said it can record video, so suppose I was walking with it, does it have OIS for a clear smooth video?
+Faheem Khan it does but the issue with 360 video and movement is it can easily make people nauseated because of how they can look anywhere around and especially if they have a VR headset on

You need two things, a gyro stabilizer for cam, and a Bluetooth Trackball to help view the video.... or else get sea sickness with shaky and/or tilted video and get a stiff acky neck from twisting your neck in odd angles or look idiotacy spinning around...WHY? When you can easily just spin a ball around...
the Lg cam 360° i half the price and almost just as good and connects to iphones and android . and not only samsuns devices like the cam in the video

I personally bought a Samsung gear 360 few months ago and was a bit disappointed by the video quality especially when watched through a vr.
4k is great for a framed video but when stretched to 360 view you loose a lot of details.
I think it's only the start of the technology and we will see 12 or 16k 360 cameras in a neat future..
I think 360 content only has a specific time and place, but it's neat.
+EposVox agreed, I'm trying to figure out if there's a way to do a CZcams video with it. Think maybe a round table discussion where you could sit in a chair as the viewer and watch multiple people around you have a conversation would be kinda a cool use for it, but not sure what else could be done for my particular channel with it...
I like the idea for exploring nature trails/camp sites, or setup videos. I really want one for my office/studio tour videos, hehe.
Much easier to let the viewer look around than keep whipping the camera around everywhere
the point you made at 4:49 is invalid ? since you are recording in 360 degrees
how will you mess up the recording ? it's not like you could point the camera at the wrong direction... the only way i could think of is: if you cover the lense while recording ...
If you would have watched just a few more seconds to 5:07 you'll realize I actually make that exact point :)

I feel like Samsung is trying to become apple in terms of exclusivity. It's starting to piss me off because I broke my Samsung and had to change it out with a IPhone 6(which still isn't a bad phone, because its battery is badass) and I really liked the concept of vr.

And don't forget, 4k becomes less impressive when you see it stretched over 360°... But photos are quite cool, and that is probably what i would use it for.
+isegrim1978 agreed but 4k is still close to the highest resolution you can get for the 4K video without spending crazy money on a higher res 360 camera so for now it's what we got :/

The lenses are too far apart and it fucks up the stitching.
There's a ball camera at CES that has small web cameras all over it. Anything with 2 cameras is not that great except maybe the LG 360 cam.

Correct, there is no way for them to be able to utilize the 360 without it being on a platform that supports it (like CZcams or Facebook)
PS You actually can't even send it to your friends with Android. The phone OS has nothing to do with it.
