You get flying colors for this work of ID.
Many thanks

Thanks Kyle, these all waterfowl we see on the central California coast as well.

فيديو رائع جدا..... تحياتي لك من مصر ❤❤❤❤❤
Great video!
Thank you for sharing!
I thought the Lesser Scaup has purple iridescence, and the Greater Scaup had the green
Kyle Drake, huh? That continues a funny trend I've noticed of naturalists having amusingly appropriate last names for their focus of choice. Anyway, thanks for the really helpful video. I'll be watching it several times to prep for a job I'll be starting soon in a South Dakota WPA.
It’s the female ducks that need to be compared. The hens are way more similar and harder to id. A male duck is obvious.
Totally agree that the hens present more of a challenge, but a solid grasp of the shape/structure and behaviours is helpful and easier done with the drakes for beginners or those that don't see much waterfowl regularly. We do a comparison of the hens in our MarshWatch program, you can check out the review portion of the series here to see them compared: czcams.com/video/POzA3yS_EJM/video.htmlsi=1uhWiM6KCisMs_N1&t=715. We're hoping to add to this series in the future, and a video or two on hens would be a great addition. Thanks and happy birding!
