    Rasmus Hojlund didn’t flop in his debut season at Manchester United even though they paid a lot of money for him and we expected immediate results. 16 goals in all competitions while dealing with injuries on a dysfunctional team, at the age of 21, where his teammates don’t pass him the ball enough and not to mention that he didn’t score a single goal in the Premier League until late December and he was their only proper striker. I would give him a 7/10 as he did well under the circumstances despite some question marked about whether or not he can be Manchester United’s goalscorer in the long run. As we saw with him at the EUROs, his profile as a player reminds me of Haaland because when he’s not getting the right service, his game is limited because as a poaching striker, he’s being asked to do what his manager wants him to do, what do you expect from him when nobody passes him the ball. You need to see more of him in the game because this is an issue for Manchester United when everyone knows that he doesn’t get enough service which means that you’re carrying a passenger in games where he doesn’t score because he can find himself in a lot of good positions, yet no one would play the right sort of pass to him.
    Let’s not say that he’ll be scoring 40+ goals a season if he was playing on Manchester City because he would have more goals if he got better service. Now that they’ve signed Joshua Zirkzee another young striker from Serie A, competition brings out the best in players and maybe for Hojlund, it’s very clear that he’s not a guaranteed starter and he has to fight for his place in the team because it’ll get to a point where similar with other players, at the highest level, we can’t keep players excuses especially if he’s not scoring goals because you have to find a way to bring the best out of a striker who has a lot of ability and potential.

  • @CoconutJewce
    @CoconutJewce Před měsícem +6

    Crazy that ESPN is blatantly reporting false transfer fees. Yoro wasn't £60M. He was €50M with €12M in add-ons and it will be paid in installments. Also, Zirkzee is on 90k/week and Yoro is on 115k/week. If it was the Glazers, those fees would be higher and the wages would be double. Ineos has done a wonderful job on these two deals.

    • @russellward4624
      @russellward4624 Před měsícem

      Almost every transfer is paid in instalmenets. It's really not relevant because installments don't effect FFP or PSR.

    • @CoconutJewce
      @CoconutJewce Před měsícem

      @@russellward4624 I think it is relevant to mention. They make it seem like United have spent a ton of money already when they've really only spent like 30M split between Zirkzee and Yoro because those fees will be paid in installments over 4+ years. Kinda shifts the perception of what United can still do in this window, especially with 4 players that have already left and a few more expected to leave.
      And they could've mentioned that Zirkzee's release clause wasn't triggered because United wanted to pay in installments instead of paying it all up front (maybe they did say that already somewhere, idk).

    • @russellward4624
      @russellward4624 Před měsícem +1

      @CoconutJewce that's not how ffp works. It doesn't matter if it's in installments. Ffp is spread over the length of contract. Tye instalme ts of the tranfer payment isn't relevant. But you're ignoring all the other tansfers in the past years. You can't ignore the last 5 years of transfers that are amortized in this year.

    Mark Ogden has got to be one of the most biased and delusional pundit I’ve seen. Hojlund had 16 goals last season for United feeding on next to no service and living off scraps. Hojlund himself is not the issue. The issue is United’s wingers like Rashford, Garnacho, Antony, etc have zero interest in providing service to the striker. They are all inverted wingers who are all looking to cut inside and shoot first and provide for the striker second. Bigger picture, this is a problem for number 9’s in general in the modern possession obsession era. Strikers very rarely get first time service anymore because modern players are not interested in servicing strikers in general. Inverted wingers are always looking to score and the attacking third of the field is far too congested now because players and teams are obsessed with endlessly passing the ball around. Hojlund is not the problem at all. He’s incredibly talented at 21 and actually needs teammates who provide service.

    Hojlund has all the talent, just need the team to get the ball to him and stop being so selfish. His movement is great, hold up and link up play excellent, fantastic work rate, creates goal scoring opportunities for others. Scored 16 goals despite very little help. Think Zirskee's intelligence and unselfishness will help Hojlund score many more goals. Then wait a year or 2 and see if these so called experts can understand why he's scoring so many. But guess they'll give the credit to Nistelrooy and anyone else.
