Retractable tips suck, because the tip and the lead, always wabble. You get those kind of pencils, for their high precision, a retractable tip, eliminates that precision and make the pencil highly imprecise (way worst than the cheapest wooden pencil in terms of performance). Also, the pencil will fell down on the floor, and the tip will bent, when you use it and guess what, when you use it, the tip is out, not in. So, the retractable tips, are a huge disadvantage, and don't provide any real advantage. I carry mechanical pencils in my bag since I was a kid back in the 80s, I never had an issue, like pocking holes into my gear etc. The people who area afraid, pencils, and their tips, shouldn't be using them in first place. In my time, kids where always using pencils, and we never had any kind of accident or damage, by pencils...
That's why most professional artists and Draftsmen praise the Graphgear500, as the best pencils for free or technical drawing. It's because it's precision. Same goes for lead holders, it's there solid precise performance, that makes them a professional drawing or sketching tool.

Nice pencil. I was disappointed when my traveller pencil arrived. I've ordered the pencil , price now 60s. I'd love to find a mechanical pencil like the fisher space pen, brass, bullet shaped, Round, 0.7. I have some kawaeco I like, but takes fat lead. I've ordered a different model, but it hasn't come yet.

Of course, I now want this pencil. The answer to my question can be a deal breaker. Is this a smelly brass pencil, and will it make my hand smelly too?

I have a kaweco lilliput brass pen and it does make my hands smell a bit like an old coin, but if I’m correct brass is naturally antimicrobial so that’s a plus! The patina the pen gets is worth it in my opinion and the slight smell doesn’t bother me too much. :)

It's heavy and if you drop it once on the point ,it's become unusable . They don't sell spare parts .

I had to sand off the coating on my brass Kaweco. It was just awful 🙄
Other than that, it is the greatest pencil I've ever used.

Yes, copper has strong antimicrobial action.
So, all the pens with a metal body containing copper either pure or in an alloy (e.g. bronze, brass) have the same characteristic. (Lilliput, Supra, Sport fountain pens and mechanical pencils)

I believe that these pencils are aluminium not brass. Colour is brass?

I’m not a metal expert, but it’s sold as brass, patinas like brass, and has the brass weight.

Why do you say that. Have you held it before and felt it’s weight. Aluminum is scratched easy

There is a range of aluminium versions… but this one is definitely brass. They come in different lead widths… I have 0.7 in the black aluminium and the brass. Aluminium version weights about 16 grams, the brass about 27 grams.
