HELLDIVERS™ 2 is a 3rd person squad-based shooter that sees the elite forces of the Helldivers battling to win an intergalactic struggle to rid the galaxy of the rising alien threats. From a 3rd person perspective, players use a variety of weapons (pistols, machine guns, flamethrowers) and stratagems (turrets, airstrikes, etc.) to shoot and kill the alien threats. Players can also aim down the sights for a more accurate 1st person camera view. Combat is accompanied by frequent sprays of blood and dismemberment as players exterminate the alien forces or players and squad mates are hit by environmental explosions or friendly fire. Enemy encampments and battlefield environments depict bloodstains and dismembered corpses.

In summary, this game is an absolute blast to play with friends (I can't speak on the solo experience) HOWEVER if kernel level anti-cheat is a major turn off for you on PC then this game has one of the most invasive out there from what I'm hearing but it's not something that has ever affected me or stopped me from enjoying a game. Why a PvE co-op shooter needs such strict anti-cheat is beyone me but it's whatever...
It sounds like matchmaking has improved, though some players are still having connectivity issues when queing with randoms and beyond a crash or two over the 5 hours we played, there is a lot of fun to be had. *Being able to reconnect after a disconnect makes crashes a lot less frustrating than they otherwise would be that's for sure! MTX / Microtrasactions do feel rather out of place here and the game does seem a bit grindy with some convoluted systems in place to force you to invest more time than most will care to devote to a game like this but Helldivers 2 is definitely one of the best horde shooter games I've played in a while with great visuals, sound design and bombastic gameplay with lots of cool ordnance to blast your enemies (and friends) to smithereens.
The game gets a recommendation from me if you are unphased and unaffected by the above issues that some are experiencing 👍
Helldivers 1 had an issue that someone would suddenly be cheating on the servers he decided to join, and from there he gave not only himself 9999 samples, but the main issue, EVERYONE else in the lobby 9999 samples, thereby fucking up their entire save file :/
This is why they had an anti-cheat in this game finally, but sadly, they picked the WORST one there is.
Even still, the game is great after first patch.
Not gonna comment on the armor thingies you mentioned in the 36:00 part about being able to get it still after some time etc.

@@Xertic94 worst? you mean the best? if the goal is to keep cheaters out the ONLY solution is kernel level anti-cheat. are people really so stupid to think big corps would abuse and scam their customers?
It's mostly on Sony for the anti cheat. They are hammering down on cheating at the moment both software and hardware.
you can actually earn the microtransaction "currency" by playing, which feels nice. It feels much less scummy than what people normally do.
I love when games do little things to make them more immersive. That premission briefing where you step onto the hellpods could've been a simple "Ready Up" button but they chose to do that instead and it does a lot imo
Yeah same with calling in the strategems. They could have just done it as a button press or item/weapon wheel type thing like every other game does but they have you input the code and its so nice and tactile
The ship pivoting and moving to the destination whilst being mirrored on the hologram , the helldivers tube that rotate under the platform we stand on and the light from using your wrist computer casting a glow on your helmet makes me smile more than it should.

The number one thing i'm saying to my friends asking me how the game is: It's such a simple game yet so immersive and satisfying it's unreal!
I wish big devs making so-called "triple-A" games or evern "quadrple-A" (*cough* Ubicrap *cough*) could learn a couple of things from Hell Divers 2 (can't speak for HD1 as i never played it)

BTW if you like Pay Day games then this is one for you cuz its similar in how missions work but alot more free roam and OBV not a heighst game :)

People are asking what the story and plot is or if there is a campaign? You are basically thrown into an intergalactic war liberating planets with so much to build on for future enemy types and enemies evolving intelligence as you defeat more and more of them. The devs have stated they will start employing new strategies and approaching combat differently over time. This is a very exciting premise inside the beautifully atmospheric landscaped terrains.
Assuming they *do* build on it. The underestimating of it's launch hopefully means there'll be big updates in the future
And yet, it's all repetitive pointless trash vs AI non stop.
If there's no PvP, then there's nobody to be better than, and nobody to own, games literally as pointless as pointless can be.

BEST COOP EXPERIENCE IVE EVER HAD TO PLAY WITH FRIENDS! Frantic communication and team work calling in airstrikes and utilizing our defenses. Pure Addicting laid back fun!!!! 10/10!

Thankyou for the wonderful team and the ability to find some new friends and teammates. level 5. now. and having a blast. streams and videos don't seem to do the graphics justice. This truly looks like it was made in UE5. but I could be wrong. Also you do not have open absolutely everything by spending medals to move onto the next page. almost , but not quite, so that was nice to discover. lol. ;). ps. Don't forget the awesome jump back, land on your back and shoot over your feet mechanic when you got a mob bearing down on you, really works a treat

This game is pretty fun and challenging, it definitely demands a grind and time. It’s obvious that the Xbox players are mad and they are review bombing it just because it’s not on Xbox.
Visuals and audio in this game are just superior
Ive been having a blast playing. I just have to do a round about "matchmaking" aka joining randoms on the helldivers discord lol
So the matchmaking issue is due to queing with randoms, correct? If you're joining a group manually and starting a match together, then there are far less problems compared to those using quick play?
@Tomographic from what I can gather yes. The game for solid hour wouldn't let me quickplay so I hit up the helldivers 2 discord and randomly added people via their in-game codes. The whole "turn off cross play and only play automaton to queue" trick didn't work for me sadly.
It’s 2:00 am here in the UK, I’ve just spent 7 hrs on it straight and I have tomorrow off work . Are they fixing the party search issue? Couldn’t join any teams but had a blast with my mates .

Started a mission and even before I reached my hellpod people were joining. Not sure if thats quickplay or if my match was visible on mission map but had blast with randoms.
Still having the issue with failed to join team . I'm on ps5. I can play with ppl on friends list .

This game has really good sound design. That lmg sounds amazing
when i see the list of thing that you can unlock like 500kg eagle bomb or guard dog thats like a draone that helps you it just makes me want to play
This game has really good weapon sfx, they all sound impactful and in general just sound great. Really good immersion wise. Soundtrack is also pretty epic I have to say.

While Jack Frags was at the top of my search "hell divers". His title wasn't what i was looking for. I wanted to know if i was gonna get this game. I ironically was hoping Tomo had a video on it, and his video title got me here.

Love the content. I played the first game and really enjoyed it, but man ive been playing all day with a couple buddies and having an absolute blast. Also the microtrasactions seem extremely cheap when compared to other live services, and earning premium currency just by playing is nice

There is literally no need to spend any moeny on the premium currency unless you want to buy every single skin in the store right now immediately. You earn plenty just by playing. @@Fivemacs

I’d like to know what would happen if Terminids or the Automatons get within the super earth sector. Would there be a mars map or a moon map. But you have extra reinforcements or stratagems because you be close to home and it would be defensive. That would be cool.
It doesnt suck. I was actually excpecting day one issues there wasnt like an open beta exactly. But i mean im hsving a blast. My main thing is longevity.
For a 40 dollar game its really good. I thiink people shouldnt put this game down honestly. Its really fun.

GGs Tom and the GUYs it was fun to watch you guys. lots of funny moments. I do share your frustration with team killing. funny at first but it gets old. unless you're trolling lol. Also, I think what would really help is when you unlock the jump pack. that should help get out of sticky situation fast.

Sure they're might be bugs (no pun intended - new games usually do, its kind of common tbh...) but this looks like a blast with friends. Randoms might be sketch considering the friendly fire lol. This was me and my buddies we never like to play co-op shooters but this has us hooked.
Tomo, the Saviour of the Free and anything in the Super Citizen bundle except the warbond cannot be unlocked later on, its literally a reward for buying it, only warbonds and shop items can be unlocked at any time
Ctrl for diving/evasion is bad.. dont know why its a standard. C for evasive movement, ctrl click for crouch, and alt for strategems for me.

what would you suggest? I find the movement mechanics to be very simple yet very satisfying in HD2
Movement is too slow for me and not being able to jump is stupid. Stamina runs out super fast is super annoying.

I love the fact that the people of Super Earth are freaks. Their weird "managed democracy" they talk so much about is definitely some sort of fascist regime. Especially when PSAs are popping up saying "undivided attention is mandatory" plus the way they treat you in the bootcamp tutorial. You can tell something is wrong with these people. But we still see the game from their perspective as righteous liberators fighting their holy cause. It's very tongue-in-cheek and very Verhoeven's Starship Troopers. I love it.
my TIP is that u can turn your hip fire targeting reticle on..... not shur y thy set it to off
It’s definitely smarter gameplay-wise, I keep my hipfire reticle off simply for immersion purposes

I think the games awesome but match making is broke ? Which I was cool with at first, but 8 hours have gone by and still down, I know it's early days but this game only shines when playing with other.

You can only see live stream VOD's in the live tab on my channel, you can't just make them appear on your main channel page unfortunately.

I'm worried about two things: Firstly, I've enjoyed HD1, and I'm pretty 2 will ruin my life. The second thing is how would the DLCs be. HD1 had a lot equipment locked behind paid DLC. While they were fun to have, it burned through my wallet. Expensive for an old 3rd world country boi like me. I hope things would be different this time.

You never played the original Helldivers did you? Same concept but it was a Top-down multiplayer shooter.
The game is absolutely fantastic. The nitpicking people are doing is insane, when other games like Fortnite use kernel-level anti cheat as well.
People love to complain for whatever nowadays just because it's the current mainstream thing to do.
Most of them don't even know what "Kernel level" means anyway.
Using arrow keys and needing to take your hand away from where it is is just mad man behaviour
the other option is having to stand still to activate it so binding to the arrows allows you to move around while keying in your codes.

@sirtaugs Just like your OS does or any other driver could do. People like to complain about EVERYTHING nowadays like everyone works at NASA and has super top secret stuff on their systems... but those are the same people going around with a smartphone (sometimes 2) in their pocket so... yeah
It’s pointless. It’s not malware it doesn’t slow the game, you gotta be online but so does almost every other online game so….the game is an absolute gem. Like I care about something I don’t see, doesn’t affect me or the game

I feel like a lot of people that are streaming this game have never played the first one which makes me sad. Helldivers one was Amazing. Judging by what I am seeing this is exactly like the first game except for the camera perspective.
I think you're probably right because the first game was operating within an entirely different genre. The shooter crowd had no interest until this game came to light so it's interesting to see them appeal to a whole new crowd with this entry!

Shatterline got dull for me after a few hours
The game is fun, BUT the Anti-cheat is pretty aggressive, and it crashed background programs while trying to play the game, which is pretty wild, I've never had this issue before. it Crashed my TS3 which I've never had TS TS2 or TS3 crash Ever on any computer I've built, so that's a little concerning, if it's this kernel-anti-cheat thing. I dont know anything about that stuff. just what I hear, so take that with a grain-o-salt. The not being able to connect thing is weird, and not because I can't connect. That's normal for a new release, they're going to have issues I got it, that's fine, I'll go do something else, BUT having to alt-f4 out of a game because hitting ESCAPE, is also considered ANY BUTTON, seems like a strange oversite. For any would be developers out there. Always make an Out-button, in every screen state that exists in your program. Aside from all that rambling, it's a solid game if you can get it to play, the visual and audio communication features in game area really good, and I hope they get things ironed out.

You can earn EVERYTHING via in-game currency. I think the only paywall stuff is what you get with the Super Citizen edition and that's it.
