The strange relationship between the Fatui and the Traveller

  • The Traveller and the Fatui should have a pretty straightforward relationship, yet for some reason things just don't make sense. Why aren't the Fatui paying more attention to the traveller? Or maybe they are, but just not in the way we expect.
    Yeah I know. This one was messy. We release videos on this channel even if they're mediocre.

    Is it just me or isn't it weird that the Fatui started collecting the gnosis only after the traveler awoke in Teyvat? We know the Fatui was formed after the cataclysm and that puts 500 years of doing absolutely nothing. Only when the traveler comes, do they initiate their plan which makes me wonder if their end goal cannot be accomplished without the traveler. Except from Signora, they all refrained from killing the traveler. The phrase capitano uses "Her methods tarnished her honor" maybe refers to her disobeying the orders not to harm the traveler?

    I think the fact that the harbingers aren't opposed to killing us, but obviously don't have direct orders is the most interesting part of everything. I do think that keeping the Traveler alive will greatly benefit them, but perhaps at the point that Signora died-in Inazuma-the Traveler wasn't a necessary factor to keep alive because of the way Signora responded to the duel. The Fatui, after that point, may be keeping up a front that they could kill the Traveler at any time without hesitation so the Traveler would keep indirectly helping them. Perhaps in Fontaine, they'll be more careful around the Traveler, but a this point, it's just a guessing game. There could also be the possibility that the Fatui still just doesn't care about the Traveler because we don't pose a serious long term threat to the highest ranked ones yet (or the Fatui just seriously doesn't care about it's members lol).
    I had never really thought of the relationship between us and the Fatui before, but you're totally right, this isn't a strick hate-hate relationship.

      i agree with this! signoras death was actually pretty huge.. so i have no idea. the fatui will be more careful around the travler in fontaine. plus the tsar might want the travler alive because the travler is really powerful and may help them against their endevors againsts celestia. the highest ranked ones dont care at the moment though since they are losing anything "YET".

      I think the Fatui care but they just pretend they don't. without considering the foolishness of ignoring someone who is quickly becoming stronger and stronger, if they didn't care about the traveller, doesn't that also mean they don't care that signora's dead? I mean the only way that makes sense is that nobody really likes signora and is sad that she's dead.
      With that said though, i think the most logical conclusion atm is that they're keeping an eye on the traveller bc they're a descender. I want to see what data the Fatui have on the descenders.

      @@arcazure9610 yes it would be weird to ignore the traveler. aether/lumine have great potential. i know the fatui care about the travelers. i have no idea what to say about signora.
      though i seriously wonder.. how did they even find out the traveler was a decender? i too am curious about new fatui data.
      i also like how you stated that dottore didnt kill lumine/aether. perhaps you are right the fatui does need the traveler

      @@icecream1372 i mean i don't want it to be a situation where the Fatui needs the traveller to succeed, but i do think there's some sort of plan for them. Especially with the known fact traveller is going to meet all 7 archons, the Tsaritsa probably wants to meet them.

    I'd be glad to have the traveller collaborate with the fatui against the heavenly principles, as long as Il Dottore is out of the picture.
    Yes he'd be usefull but chances are he won't survive long if I need to put up with him (as the traveller, me irl would be a goner).

    • @icecream1372
      @icecream1372 Před rokem +10

      tbh i feel like the collaboration will happen!, though dottore is quite a problem.. but there is one strange thing. dottore kept lumine/aether alive and didnt kill them. its like the fatui need the traveler as a ally at some point. because the fatui is 100% planning to rebel against celestia.

    • @arcazure9610
      @arcazure9610  Před rokem +6

      just going off of the reputation some of the Fatui have, if we're going to exclude Dottore for being evil, then we might as well also exclude Pantalone, Arlecchino, and Pierro because they also have been responsible for some heinous stuff.
      If you're interested in this though, i made a video specifically on why the Tsaritsa allows such evil harbingers to work for her. I think there's a chance that the Tsaritsa may purge the Fatui once she feels like her side is strong enough to win. Like say if she just needs 7 gnoses, maybe she can finally turn around and start judging dottore for his sins.

      @@arcazure9610 hmm.. now thats a intresting thought. i believe those harbingers you mentioned are evil.. though i heard rumors of alecchino betraying the fatui.
      also question, what part does columbina play in? is she evil as well? just like the others mentioned?
      to be honest i feel like the tsar lets her harbingers do whatever as long as her goals are reached. her purging the fatui? that wont be pretty.. since that will be the biggest betrayal, like even if the harbingers have different beliefs, they were faithful to the tsar.. a mini war in the fatui would be intresting though

    If I recall, Scaramouche did imply killing the Traveler during the 1.1 event. Where that plot went...dunno. More inconsistencies in the game.

    it’s possible that the Tsaritsa ordered the fatui to keep the traveler alive? If she’s the pale princess that is… the rest of the data mined story of pale princess tells us that there is some prophesy of a hero that wields the harbinger of dawn and that will free the pale princess and do a bunch of other hero things. so maybe she is aware of how the future will unfold and the traveler holds some importance - be it personal or political- to her

    What about Scaramouche trying to kill the Traveler in the Unreconciled Stars Event? Y'know, where Mona saved him and Fischl?
    It seems the Traveller is at least a secondary objective.

    • @arcazure9610
      @arcazure9610  Před rokem +6

      That example slipped me by but to me it falls under the same category of Signora gladly willing to kill the traveler in the duel. He tried to do it, but i highly doubt it was a mission given to him by Pierro. The Fatui had plenty of opportunities to kill the traveler, which meant it was probably just an isolated decision Scaramouche made.

    • @iosis9324
      @iosis9324 Před 10 měsíci +3

      This was his secondary unimportant mission, and it was not to kill the Traveler, it was at the very beginning of the game when the Traveler was not yet known to anyone, and Scaramouche's mission was to kill the "Savior of Mondstatt", so I assume that by this point the Fatuis did not yet know who was the savior of Mondstatt.

    That part about the Traveler taking the pyro gnosis for himself. I have had this thought that the Fatui won't attempt to get the pyro gnosis from the Traveler because after Natlan, the Traveler will go to Snezhnaya (I'm sure they'd have seen the pattern by now). I've honestly been thinking that maybe the pyro Archon herself might end up giving her gnosis to the Traveler, and afterwards, the Tsaritsa might actually invite the Traveler to meet her and attempt to convince them to join her cause.

    Seems like the opposite to me. The Harbingers want Traveler dead, but the Abyss wants them alive. Most obvious problem with your theory is that way back in v1.x Scaramouche when we first meet him tries to kill the Traveler. So clearly we can see the Harbingers had no orders to keep the Traveler alive. Now at the time is Scaramouche just happy to go round killing people for no particular reason? He describes Traveler as the hero of Mondstadt. It's not like Scaramouche or the Fatui in general go around killing people left and right on the off-chance. Indeed they have a significant diplomatic mission in Mondstadt. Scaramouche isn't a psychopath that loves fighting and killing. So why does he feel the need to attack? When we meet him again at the end of Reconciled Stars he doesn't try again - but this may be because we're with Mona who he knows can simply teleport away. Again when Signora grabs the first gnosis she doesn't try to kill either Venti or Traveler. But this could easily because she really needs to get in and out fast in that situation. Or because at that time the Traveler simply wasn't known to the Fatui because it was so early in the game. In Inazuma she accepts the duel that will either be her death or Traveler's. While the record doesn't support the Harbingers keenly desiring the Traveler's death, it certainly isn't compatible with them wanting to avoid Traveler's death.

    • @arcazure9610
      @arcazure9610  Před rokem +3

      my theory isnt that the Fatui is trying to guarantee the traveller's survival, it's that the Fatui as a whole, have no real interest in killing the traveler. Sure, Scaramouche might have tried, just like Signora was fully okay with killing the traveler in Inazuma, to them, the traveler is treated way more like a side-quest, they're not really all that committed.
