Fabulous video, Joie! You are a great teacher! I could listen to you talk and watch you create all day long! Thank you, dear one! ❤️
You're very welcome Gayle....I'm delighted to see you here again; sending hugs and I hope you stay healthy and happy in these challenging times. Keep crafting, it's definitely calming and relaxing for us all. Joie ❣️🌿
You make it look so easy! I like that you're using readily available papers and images, with no need for a printer or digital image kits.
Hello Finnigan! I guess I just use what I have ❣️
I’ve been binge watching your videos. Your work is just beautiful. So bright and cheery. It seems like so many of the other crafters just have dark and tea papers, with vintage ephemera. You are a breath of fresh air.
That's very kind of you to say that Barbara. 🥰🥰🥰
I love how you cut your flowers and such the little boarders make it seem very vintage. Just beautiful
Thanks Karen!!!
You are such a delight to watch. I can't wait to get my hands onto my scrap pile after watching this. Thank you so much for your gentle manner and your lovely ideas you share. I wish you lived next door! Blessings! :)
Tee hee.....what a lovely comment. 😁❣️
Now I want fairy lights on my work table!
Magical aren't they Joni 🥰
Came back to this because I need some note cards for correspondence. Love the simple and balanced beauty of these.
🥰🥰🥰💜
Hi Joie! This is my favorite thing to do! Not make cards but collaging! I love pictures out of magazines, junk mail, advertisements anything paper! I have in my stash fancy paper!
I started making a journal but I don’t write often. I need to make things for a purpose! Not just myself. Thanks again for sharing your creative ideas!
💖🙋🏼♀️🍂🇺🇸💖
Awesome, that sounds fabulous!!! Sending hugs, have fun CraftyJoy..... joie 💜🌿🍄
I’m still trying to learn how to put a collage together that doesn’t look like a car crash. I love watching you creating.
Thanks Pam 🥰
Hi Pam! Don’t think about to much! Just pick out colors and pictures that you like! What I do when I collage is I take out a little more than I know I will need. Just so I don’t feel forced to use just that! Have fun! Play!
Nice one 👍🏻😁💜
CraftyJoy9 thank you for that! I’m going to have a go with that method. 🙂 x
Let's do it!! I'm using this method as I collage in my new Altered Book.....that video will be out soon too. Hugs!! 😁💜
I love how you take your focal point and build the background. Many crafters I watch build from the bottom up and very cute papers get covered up. I also love how you don't use inking along the edges, sometimes it can reflect from the project a person is working on. I love your work and all of your tips and how you want our input. Thank you for this great site
Wow, thanks Jody!! Great to meet you, thanks for popping by to watch! 😁💜🍄
I love the idea of clipping all the neutral papers together. I’m usually going thru every thing I own to find the right piece which is very discouraging. So thank you for all your wonderful ideas Joie!
Yes it can take so long to find the right piece!!❤️👍
I'm making a few things this week. I have birds, flowers, words and so on to work with. You always inspire me to think outside the box. Thanks sweet friend
🤗🤗💚😊🙏🏿🙏
Joie, hope you are making headway caring for your health. I’m enjoying rewatching lots of your great tutorials.
I love to watch ypur videos.
You should read stories with that amazing voice.
It is so calming to listen to.
Aww Mark, that's lovely, thank you!! ❣️
It’s never occurred to me starting a collage with the focal point and working backward. I think it could work to make my collages more successful. CHEERS!
Cheers to making this as easy as possible...thanks for popping by Bethany!!! Great to see you here 💜 👍🏻🥰
Sometimes for collage cards, I do as you do, pick a focal image and work from that. I also like to do a series of collage cards with a color palette and using a lot of the same papers across all five or six cards, but with different focal images on each. I've had a lot of fun working that way. Thank you for describing the thinking behind your design choices. It's so helpful to hear how others approach their art!
Fish I absolutely love that idea of a collection done in a colour palette....sounds like something I might need to try!! Thanks for your creative suggestion Theresa!! ❤️❤️❤️
Hi Joie, I’ve finally got round to seeing this video and boy am I glad I did. Collage is not my forte which is why I never use it! I have never seen anyone do it the way you have shown here and I’m absolutely in love with this method. Finding your focal image and playing with mock-ups behind it without bothering with the substrate is genius! That long strip across the substrate is the perfect anchor for the collage grouping, I’m feeling inspired to give it a go, thank you Joie xxx💕💕
Hoorah, and I applaud your positive approach, such lovely words. Here's to a simple, happy life full of paper. Oh, and I saw your post in Artymaze's Facebook Group...wowser! You should post more often. Take care of yourself Rita, and I'll be chatting again soon, hugs, joie 🌿💜
joie de fi 💕💕💕
Hi Joie, When I get off work every day I look to see if you have any videos that I haven’t watched yet I just discovered this one today and again I am not disappointed. You are such an inspiration and joy to listen and watch as you work. Please keep them coming I wouldn’t know how else to drink my afternoon cup of coffee if I didn’t drink it with you. Robin
Ill definitely keep them coming Robin, and it's absolutely lovely to get this feedback from you. It really does help me!! So watch out for Sunday....I have a new video and I think that you might like it 😉 hugs, joie 💜🌿
joie de fi 🧚🏿♂️🦋🌹
I do like using book pages. These cards really are easy to do, and they look great!
Thanks 👍 much appreciated! ❤️
Oh how perfect I have a Thomas Kinkade box calendar, and is perfect to use for this. Thank you
It does indeed sound perfect!! Nice one Dawnea 😁❣️
Love your collaging technique!;) Simply beautiful!!
Thanks very much Angie! 🥰💜
Joie, I just watched this video.I am in awe of you no matter what you are making, cards, collage, journals, pockets, the list goes on. I am in complete agreement with Gayle. I could listen to you and watch you create all day. If I'm being honest, I must tell you there are sometimes I do watch your videos for several hours. Are you just naturally gifted or did you take art classes in school? I have learned from you so much and although I'll never be as good as you are,I love that you gave me permission to use what I have and do what makes me happy. Thank you Joie. XO
Always do just what pleases you....craft wise anyway! 😁😁😁❣️❣️❣️
Thank you, we need new things to keep our mind busy🥰
I think I will make some more like this, I agree
These cards are fabulous! Love your technique (I haven’t paid attention to my own method - I think most times I layer up, but I will give your style a try.) I am really enjoying your method of presentation, and the gorgeous results you get. I love that you ask questions and make us give more thought to what we are doing. Selecting a competing image is a tough one. I cut based on size And color I am most likely to use. I have lots of two-sided scrapbook paper I hoard because I like both sides so much!!! Since they are 12x12, I think I am going to cut them in half and enjoy a little of each!!!! TFS. I did. God bless and stay safe!
Aaah the 2 sided paper conundrum.... it's a real issue 😁😁❣️
I put the page with two beautiful sides on a business envelope with a window..and turn it into a slide...or, more often, I'm lucky and I have my own printer, so I copy both images...
I love that envelope idea, ingenious!! ❣️👍🏻 Thanks so popping by to watch Penny, take care!! Joie 💜🌿
This vid really opened my eyes to the possibilities of collage. I'm so used to the whole fill-up-the-page-willy-nilly approach, building up slight layers from below with the focal point last. It's so refreshing to start with the focal piece and 'build down', so to speak. The white space is restful, too. I can't wait to try collage your way!
Keep me posted Rachelle, it's a lot of fun!!
Lovely video joie. I work backwards when working with my scrappy pieces. I do love your techniques. Thank you for sharing dear.
You're very welcome Stacey. It's a real pleasure to hear such positive feedback 🥰
I may have commented before but I have to tell you how I inspiring this video (and MANY of your others) has been to me. I've made several cards from this video and have been very pleased with them all.
That's just music to my ears .. thank you so, so much!!😁💜💜💜
You make it look so easy! I’m going to try this with a focal point first and then figure out the rest! Thanks for sharing Joie! I love listening to your calming voice, its so delicate!❤️
Have fun Donna, I'd love to hear how you get on. Hugs, joie 🌿💜
I loved watching you create these little cards and sharing your tips and tricks!
That's wonderful!!!
Thank you for explaining why you put certain elements in certain places. I sometimes struggle with knowing when to stop. Will keep practicing till I’m happy with my efforts.
Sounds good Nancy!! 👍🏻😊
Those pens! Arteza had a special on them, so I now have some and love them! Thanks for all the great things to do with them and some lovely papers!
You're going to have so much fun Denise!!! 😁 Lots more videos like this coming soon too👍🏻 Happy crafting! Joie 💜🌿🍄
You are very organised! And have some great ideas! I Craft on a tight budget I don't waste anything, so I organise things in baskets and little takeaway boxes! I love crafting from my scraps
I absolutely love using everything up...or at least the challenge of trying to 🤭 It's great to hear how organised you are Jan.... quite inspiring for me. Keep sharing your thoughts..and thanks for popping by to watch again!! 😁💜🌿
Extremely helpful and informative tutorial, excellent editing and instructions
Thanks, very kind words!!!
Thank you for this. I love how you organized the images
Thanks very much 😀❣️
Love the gentle approach to building up these collage cards. You put forward points that can well get overlooked as we try to fill a page. You show little is more. I love the shapes the colours, the simplicity. The cards are great for our journals, the scraps are weaved into piece of art that tell a story. Hold a secret. Wonderful video thank you for sharing. 👏👏👏❤😊
Wow, what an amazing comment. Thank you so much!! ❣️💜🌿
Thank you for explaining the composition!
You're welcome!! ❣️
This is wonderful! The idea of the bulldog clip with items ready to pull from is something I am doing immediately! I have a bad habit of moving it all around and not being able to find it. Ty Joie for all your inspiration! 😉👍
You're very welcome 😁❣️🌿
I listen to your video partly to hear your voice!!!! I close my eyes and listen with a smile. thank you! and yes I do watch too!
How lovely Vicky, that's so kind of you to tell me that. It really helps me to build my confidence and make more videos. 😁🥰 Hugs, joie 🌿💜
@@joiedefi i admit i have been meaning to tell you for a long time.....i even had my husband listen to your video, and he agreed it would be lovely [your word] to hear you reading a storybook!
Beautiful! I also have trouble deciding which side to fussy cut! I have not collaged like this before by adding pieces to the back of the focal point. I’ll give it a whirl and see if it is easier for me. Thanks for sharing!
You're welcome Susan. ❣️
Great to see your process and the tips you shared. If I have a double sided piece and I like both sides, sometimes I photograph one side, so I can print it and use later.
Nice idea Christine. Thanks for popping by to watch!! Hugs, joie 🌿💜
Love this tutorial I do card making, and need some change, so collage is great.
Must admit I’m having trouble doing collage but this way really makes sense to me and my eye 👁. Thank you. Bye 💁🏼♀️
I like simple ways of doing things 🥰👍🏻
Thank you. You have excellent teaching skills!
Very kind of you Bonnie💜
You are so inspiring. I've learnt so much from you. Big thank you. 🌺
My pleasure Tracey, and lots more to come 😁🥰❣️
Oh wow loved how they came together so quickly, I tend to overthink my collages then over complicate them, your way looks fun and simple, I will definitely try it out! Tfs hugs Elaine xx 😁💖🌷
I'll watch out for you doing them, maybe we can see them in a video on your CZcams channel soon. 🥰❣️
@@joiedefi ha ha 😂 I'll see how they come out first but maybe I have lots of pockets in my journal that need filling 😁😁😁🌷❤️ Xx
Wonderful instructions and ideas for placement. Thank you so much!
Thanks so much for watching Katherine, lovely to see you here 🥰🥰
Love your collages Joie!
Thanks so much April 🥰
Lovely! Thank you for sharing and showing how to do our own. Sometimes when I like both sides, I photocopy one side. Then I still have both images. Other times I bought two magazines or whatever it is. Have a nice week! 😊❤️
I'm guilty of buying two sometimes as well 🥰
Lovely video like always!! We’ll coordinate you are a artist master!! I do it very similar, always a focus point and adding from there, since I was a little girl I used to collect them and putting them together my family tough what it is with this girl and paper🙃. Thanks for sharing
Sounds like you have been enjoying this for a long time...how lovely!! 🥰💜
Because I told my husband that I like the way you talk, he's started making my breakfast using the same style! lol
🤭😁😁😁👍🏻 tee hee, I like that a lot!!
Love your user name, LOL
I recently found a book full of beautiful butterflies.....but they are printed on both sides so I understand your struggle! Thanks for the great video. I subscribed!
Awesome Kathy..... lots more to come!!
You have some awesome ephemera. I love the calendar.
I guess I use what I have, what comes through the letter box in particular...❣️❣️
Lovely cards, you have an eye to put little pieces together and make it pretty.
Thank you
Love your scrap cards.
Thanks Kym!💗
Just love how you make the scraps work together and of course I love your cheeky little critter!!!❤️☺️🐶
I'm hoping to see some of those little frogs on the dog walk soon. I go in a little wooded area with several streams. 👍🏻🥰
joie de fi I've heard them croaking last week, sure sign of spring❤️
Love your collage cards hopefully I can do this since it’s just with small pieces of paper (3) instead of a variety on a 8 x 11 sheet of paper. Thanks for sharing really excited 😊 to make my own. 😊🤗!!
Looking forward to hearing how you get on April. I'm absolutely sure that they'll be lovely. Definitely keep me posted!! Hugs, joie 🌿💜
Beautiful, Joie! I guess we all struggle with which side? - or set aside and do nothing! The only other alternative that I can think of, scan the 2nd side. As always, thanks for sharing your wisdom & gorgeous pieces!!
Great ideas Debbe. One suggestion was to use acetate. I'm having a think about that 😁 Lovely to see you here again 💜💜

Lol!! As long as you enjoy it, that's all that matters 👍🏻😁💜
Thanks for the ideas for collage. They will be of use to me in the near future. TFS :)
Sounds good Elaine!!
Beautiful Joie! Nameste TFS❣️🌻💜🐰💛🐌💚🐞💙🐇
Hugs to you Lala Gamma 👍🏻❣️🥰
I use my scraps to compliment the small pictures from my allday life. Which I use as my focal point.
Flowers I see on my walks, moments I like and people I like.
Before I start gluing my collage pieces, I stamp, stencil or color something on the background where my collage comes.
It is the first layer of my collage. Than I build up from there ...same like you do .
Oh the problem of chosing the image when it has one on both sides of the page, I know , I always struggle with it.
Take a deep breath and just pick one....once I cut or teared it up I am over it. Done... if I put it aside because I can not choose it will stay aside forever...not good :)
I love your videos, so pleasant to look .......
You write such meaningful words....I totally get what you mean. We just love paper...I hope you are having a lovely weekend Wilma. Take care, joie 🌿💜
I love your videos! You make beautiful items and I always learn so much. TFS * L

Watching your vids are really therapeutic for me☺️💖
What a lovely thing to say!! Thank you 😊❣️
I just love the stuff u come up with very beautiful work
It's my pleasure Christine... welcome!! 🥰🥰🥰
nice cards. I am going to make these because I also keep all the small pieces of paper. I have sorted these in plastic zip bags. I got this idea from Gayle. I put down a colage first and then I paste and then I don't remember the order now and then LOL. I'm going to try your idea from the back. you can also use the card to send to someone. I definitely show him. want to finish my denim bag first. if I have a picture on each side I put this on the desk on the side and then it will automatically come which I can use.
Sounds like you are very organised with your pieces of paper!! Well done Marthy!! 🥰💜
Good tips on Collage...I'm into making cards and I would love a change in making them. TU!!!
Ooh splendid....these are fun! Keep me posted on your progress 👍🏻😁💜
Great video! I'm a cardmaker so I can't wait to try this!
It has its origins in card making.....❣️👍🏻
Loving your vids...so clear ! I am currently using my scraps on atc cards.....which in turn will be used in my journal or on gift cards.
An excellent strategy for creating something beautiful with your scrap pieces!

Excellent teacher! A very good tutorial.
Great to hear that, and very much appreciated, thanks for popping by to watch Carol 👍🏻😁
Wow that was beautiful thanks for share with us
My pleasure, thanks so much for popping by Hettie 🤓❤️👍
Lovely video! I enjoyed watching the front to back way of collage that you did! It was a new idea to me. If you have a scanner on your printer, you could scan the image on the back and save it to your computer to use later. You can print it out on nice card stock or thin paper depending on how you want to use it. Some people may have an issue with copyright question, but I think that if you're not going to sell the image/don't claim it as your own and you're just using it for personal projects you are probably ok...but I think that is up to the individual to decide what they are comfortable with...
I enjoyed watching this video. Great ideas. Thanks.
You're very welcome Linda...lots more collage videos on my channel if you're interested....and something new and fun this weekend too. Take care!! Joie ❤️
Awesomeness, i love collage and some times struggle with adding too much...
Great to see you Debbie 😁❣️
