I was running a AF Dynamic on my old JKU. I think that jku from this video could be night from an oil catch can. There was a lot of oil in that throttle body.
@@adventuredex K&N sucks in my opinion. The oiled filters are horrible! They coat your intake, throttle body and intake manifold with that oil which would slow airflow as well as coat your map sensor. Go with a dry washable if you care about your engine. Fill a bucket with water, mix in the cleaning solution and put the filter in and twist it back and forth and bring it up and down. Rinse in another bucket and let dry. No messy sticky oil that you may not coat evenly and get uneven airflow or gum up your throttle body and sensor. Never again will I buy K&N
Just be careful horsing around in the puddles with an 'open' cold air intake like that (not in a box with factory-like mini-snorkel) - You can easily suck in water and visit hydrolock central. I was running a similar Mopar intake, now I'm running a new engine :\
Volant CAI ($150 model) and Volant Throttle Body Spacer ($45 model) here. This looks like a good intake that I hadn't heard of. Most CAI's that are ABS plastic are all pretty much the same. There are some exceptions, such as enclosed boxes to prevent water intake and other vehicle designs. One of my biggest pet-peeves is some companies charging ridiculous amounts for parts, and CAI's are usually a battleground for this. There are few examples worth the $300-$500 price-points that they are demanding. It's funny, because a lot of the Jeep community lambasts CAI's, however they are proven technology for most vehicles.
I just installed this CAI onto my 2015 Jeep Willys and love the improvement. Instant feel in improved horsepower as well as a much deeper sound. Anxious to see if there's any mpg improvement.
I had an AEM Brute Force polished aluminum cold air intake, with the washable filter on my 2000 Tj. Definitely noticed better acceleration, throttle response, and mpg. Changed out an air raid throttle body spacer with a helix (don’t think they make em anymore) and also noticed faster times for my test section of road (uphill in Colorado on an on ramp to a 75mph speed limit sign.)Banks exhaust same results. More air in and more exhaust out= higher performance. I don’t even know why this is argued. Maybe the lack of quick cooling aluminum, funky designs, orientation of the air boxes , and tight bends of the CAI’s for the jk are too restrictive to show obvious results. Of course I think the straight 6 was a better engine, much more torquey, but that’s an opinion. 😂
I currently have the stock one that comes with the JK. Im glad you made a video like this because just this past week I started looking at some. Thanks my dude! Keep up the great videos!
and if you off road in wet conditions its a lot easier to mess up your engine . Seen a few i run with make the mistake and follow someone with stock intake and make the mistake and water gets sucked into the engin
I don't know how much, if any, it helps horsepower, and probably you don't either, but if you think it improves mileage then I have a bridge over the East River in New York you might want to invest in. Manufacturers are under enormous pressure to meet CAFE standards, and have spent billions of dollars optimizing fuel economy. If a plastic tube could improve fuel economy to any measurable extent, it would come standard.
I'm currently running the Mopar cold air intake and I think it's not that great and heat shield for it poor design and it's tube it metal and creates more heat.
What’s up AdventureDex loved the vid. I got so excited when I saw a new upload. Next vid you should do a spare tire brake light install, they look super clean!
Adventure Dex, Thank you for the videos brotha. I've learned a lot and found a lot of accessories due to your videos. But wouldn't a snorkel be more ideal when it comes to pulling in cold air? Since that style of intake is still under the hood and has heat coming from the engine, I'd imagine the air would be somewhat hot still even after being filtered. Just a question/thought. If anyone else has more an example or detailed reason I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks y'all.
do you have a sound deadening hardtop liner? If so, could you do a video on it? I'm trying to figure out if getting a boom mat sound deadener headliner is worth it
Just got my first Wrangler 3 weeks ago ( 2012 JKU) and been watching a lot of videos to see where to start with to mods. Do the cold air intakes help a lot?
I'm surprised that still TO THIS DAY people buy into the cold air intake MYTH . Because this EXACTLY what it is .... A MYTH. Anyone with a minimum of mechanical knowledge and a little common sense should know that this gimmick does ABSOLUTELY nothing to improve performance. Any modern vehicle where the fuel map / timing etc are managed by an ECU , it will adjust itself no matter how much more air you give it. CAI are money down the toilet.
@@adventuredex it is very throaty...great sound. You know we didn’t buy these for the MPGs 😂 Keep up the great vids sir! You get some great product & you do a fantastic job on the installs and narrating.

I’ll do some research!!
running a Banks Power Cold Air intake. Sounds wicked awesome and can def feel some extra horsepower.
Installed mine finally and i love the sound of it on my jeep makes it sound like a v8 with the muffler delete🔥👏🏽
Just completed installing on 2017 Jeep JK. Sounds and rides a whole lot better, definitely can tell the difference.
I installed the full K & N chrome polished intake on my 2012 JKU and love the increased hp, mpg, ect... Definitely worth the $$$..
Awesome! Thanks for watching
you should run the afe cold air intake it is very good and doesn't get affected by heat in the engine bay like some metal intakes
Loved the dumb split screen edit of throwing the intake back to yourself haha. Good stuff man.
😆😆😆😆 thanks! Glad you enjoyed
just installed the same cold air intake but also a throttle body spacer and bang it runs great and sounds killer !!
Just ordered a rough country air intake can’t wait since I recently tuned my jeep with the factory muffler delete 💪🏽😍
Did you like the rough country cold air intake?
@@samerhallak yes it’s amazing 👌🏼
Im running a K&N CAI and there’s definitely been an improvement with throttle response

Love it! with my dual Gibson exhausts, got to get this. I'm running nothing just stock.
Same here im looking at some cold air intakes and a dual exhaust. Ive never worked on the engine before or anything mainly just body work
@@danielbutcher5259 try factory muffler delete it sounds loud and better than the exhaust system and it will save you some money :)

Have a Mopar Cold Air Intake on my ‘12 JKU Rubicon. I love it
I use a Ingen cold air intake and I love it!
Me too!
Nice video on the intake. I just have a question about your jpro cluster and how is it doing? Is it still holding up?

Why the open filter and not covered
Should i save up for a Volant or just get the Red Rock?
