And this is why no matter how many iterations of Pride and Prejudice there are, I don’t think anyone can beat Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy.
Dearest, loveliest, Mr. Darcy.
I agree with you; however, I don’t see as many people talking about Elizabeth. She is perfect!
He was born for the role
This was truly the best version imo. I love every character in it

How can a man show so much emotions with so few actual changes in his countenance? It is truly amazing how he can say "Thank you." and "I love you." with only his eyes.
MrLaura1964 Exactly.
I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST ME WHO SAW THOSE WORDS IN HIS EYES. I knew I wasn't crazy!
Exactly. Exactly that.
this also shows the power that music brings to a film production. The music is the interpretation of the scene. It heightens the value of the actors subtle facial changes. The music are the words being spoken. I am sure if you did not know this scene and you saw it without music, it would be less
Truly amazing! Very few people have such an expressive countenance; it's not just his eyes but also the way his face takes on a mellowness!
All the women deserves to be look by a man in the same way that Mr Darcy stares Lizzy on this scene at least once in a life time.
I agree.
Bel Pataki I agree, however it seems more common to spot women gazing and admiring men; holding onto their arm.
OH YES!!!
Preach!
and i might add, all men deserve to be looked at the way Lizzy looks at Darcy here too. Everyone deserves to be truly loved ... everyone. Imagine that world.
Everybody always talks about the "wet shirt" scene, but to me, this is the best scene in the series - his eyes, that expression, swoon . . . :)
Giggle fishy same!
Now THAT is a couple in love 💏
Yes, quite right. There is so much intimacy here, and you see Darcy melting under Lizzy's charm. Sweet scene. Her boobs popping out certainly adds to the ambiance.
@@lass-inangeles7564 You almost got me there ngl
He doesn't say a single word in this scene, but his body language and facial expressions communicate so much!
The way she managed Georgiana's mood in a second and then looked up to see Mr. Darcy staring and smiling at her. Man, this is the THING!!!!
It's my absolute favorite scene in the whole series! Swoon worthy :)
That’s the look of love!!
lol I love Bingley. he's just so oblivious, energetic, and cheerful, it's adorable
He reminds me of Dr Livsey (did I spell it right?) in the Russian version of "The Treasure Island". I admit, that character is much more grotesque but they have definite similarities. I definitely recommend that animated film to you ;-)
fantabulousstargirl Me too! This actor was perfect for this role!
u should see the Bingley in the 2005 Joe wright movie, hes even more adorable!
Can you imagine he went to audition for Wickham?
The sister was the oppossite
1:17 the change in Darcy's expression when the two most important women in his life were looking at him simultaneously.🥺
What I like about Jennifer Ehler as Lizzi is that she is modest, takes on behavioral characteristics that an eighteenth century girl should have. Even in scenes where she faces unpleasant issues, such as here or in the first marriage proposal, she doesn't lose the sense of limit, of education. She and Colin Firth undoubtedly brought the characters to life in incredible ways. It's my favorite version of Pride and Prejudice for the care of the interpretation details.
Jennifer is a superb actress and she portrays Elizabeth correctly. Elizabeth was born into the landed gentry and in the book Lady Catherine de Bourgh describes her as "pretty and very genteel."
The other versions feels like 'P&P FOR DUMMIES' because they rewrite the characters based upon modern perception, over simplifying everything and sometimes even betraying the core persona of a character for the sake of making everything understandable for the lazy audience.
@@marysweeney7370 Yes, 'way too modern' is absolutely right. Elizabeth Bennet hated indecorum, rudeness, flamboyant and improper behaviour. When her family embarrassed themselves during the Netherfield Ball, she was 'in agonies'. And when her father refused to discipline Lydia, she was disappointed, and later blamed his 'indolence' for allowing Lydia to be seduced by Wickham.
@@fridakahlo4225 I think the decline in public education and obsession with political correctness has helped create that lazy audience.
@@glendodds3824I love reading these comments. It's nice to associate with intelligent people who appreciate fine literature like Jane Austen and fine actors as these.
Darcy doesn’t speak the entire scene but his eyes scream how much he is in love with her. Elizabeth’s uncle even looks over at him and smiles because Darcy’s face shows pure love and admiration for his niece :)
In this adaptation it's always as if the aunt and uncle are aware of things that Lizzy isn't about Darcy or they seem to know they should be together. The way they smile knowingly at each other when they arrive in the trip to Pemberley and when Aunt and Lizzy are talking about the 'transformation' in Darcy's character she's acting as if she doesn't know things. Also when they say 'the mistress of Pemberley will have a great deal to put up with, from what I hear...' it's strange but I guess the final line of the novel states clearly that they helped them get together in the end.
this scene is amazing because you see two different loves: the romantic love that Darcy has for Lizzy, and the sweet brotherly love that he has for Georgiana :)
Emma M : bien vu!
And we gain the knowledge that Elizabeth will protect Georgiana - We see Darcy's admiration grow in this scene because of her actions, as well. :)
I think his love for Georgiana was almost fatherly, since Georgiana was in awe of him.
I think by this point, Lizzie already has a big sisterly love for Georiana as well.
How insightful. Yes. You've given me another appreciation
He's giving her a look of gratitude mixed with adoration. The gratitude is because Miss Bingley, while trying to smear Elizabeth's reputation, unknowingly upset Georgianna (remember Georgianna thought she was in love with Wickham and then found out she was being used) and Lizzie immediately thought not of herself but of Georgianna and went to distract her when she faltered. Miss Bingley has no idea what she's done, because that bit of gossip was private. It's partly why Darcy snaps at her after Elizabeth leaves. She insulted and upset Darcy's lil sis, and he won't forgive that.
Coventina, I never even thought of all that. True.
Yes, so true. Darcy was grateful to Lizzy and realized how tactful and quick she was, in hiding Georgina's faltering embarrassment about Wickham. It also showed up the two Bingley sisters as clueless about reality. This was a pivotal scene, where Darcy realizes that Lizzy was every bit his equal. They both looked like protective doting parents over Georgiana. Great piece of acting by both. Lizzy held his eyes to signal that she welcomed his advances, and Darcy had fire in his eyes for her, a mix of adoration and admiration, with a predatory edge. Nicely done.
Good that someone pointed this out :)
Did miss Bingley think Elizabeth cowardice running to miss Darcy not realizing Elizabeth was protecting her?
well said.
Brillant.
This version is the best for me. Truest to original in spirit. Carefully made.
The thing I find most beautiful about this scene is that it is the first time, if my memory doesn’t fail me, that they actually have to work as a couple to solve a problem together, which shows the potential for their married life.
Hay complicidad y no precisan palabras para comunicarse, los dos se entienden. Tienes razón hay mucho futuro en esa relación.
Colin Firth was incredible but You must see that Jennifer Ehle was amazig too!!
That's so true. She is amazing, her acting skills are wonderful. I truly appreciate her!
Absolutely !
She is reading the book on yt at the moment. It's great.
Absolutely! She is the perfect Lizzie and very beautiful!
Through a man's eyes - it's only acting but Jennifer Ehle's face at that piano scene at the point when she slowly raises her eyes towards Darcy and takes on an extremely warming look of silent devotion to Darcy is so convincing.
When Miss Bingley mentioned Wickham's name, it startled Georgiana and that is why Darcy started to rise. Elizabeth knowing the reason for Georgiana's reaction went immediately to her to help and give comfort. Her look to Darcy spoke volumes about her compassion for others and it shows most evidently on his face his appreciation for her act of kindness toward his most cherished sister.
I love Mr. Gardiner's little glance as Darcy is gazing at Elizabeth with his heart in his eyes and oblivious that Mr. Gardiner is looking at him - you can just SEE Mr. Gardiner thinking, "OH yes this is what is going on!" It also mirrors Mrs. Gardiner's "Can you not?" when Elizabeth says she can't imagine what has brought about the change in Darcy. No flies on those Gardiners!
I so love the Gardiners. They are the best Aunt and Uncle ever
I love that they were not yet sure of Elizabeth's feelings but they had not doubt of Darcy's admiration for her
@@shydreameress264 Yes, I believe in th ebook, Austen had the Gardiners observe that Mr. Darcy was 'overflowing with admiration'.
The way he looks at her with such pride... sigh...

The male gaze?
AWWWW I LOVE HIM!
And such little prejudice...
Most ardently
Darcy in this scene is the epitome of the heart eyes emoji. Easily one of Colin’s best performances and the best rendition of Darcy on screen. This scene has stuck with me for years, it’s just brilliant.
Exactly! 😍
colin firth is the best 'eye-actor' ever
those looks he gives her are just amazing
Wow I didn't know that was even a thing loll
Colin Firth made the world skip heartbeats with this scene. The exchange of looks is so beautifully acted without overstatement or vulgarity.
When Lizzy and Georgiana are talking about Darcy it's just so funny to see that look on his face: The look of a man who knows that women are talking about him but not quite knowing what :P
What girl wouldn't want a man to look at her with such adoration and gratitude? Every time I see Colin in this scene, I think of my husband and realize, again, just how much I miss him. Wonder if Colin knows how much that look touched so many women?
sirhymer
"Lizzy impresses Mr Darcy with her quick and polite replies to his ever bitchy friends." I LOL'd.
I have watched all versions of pride and prejudice..to be honest, this is the only version that has brought the book alive in truest sense... Colin and Jenifer have done complete justice to their roles.. every time I watch 1995 show, I fall in love a little bit more with Mr Darcy... Such beautiful performance ❤️
Uwielbiam ten serial.
Darcy's smile was full of pride and self-assurance as he knew he had chosen the right woman to love. He felt relieved to see how well she treated his sister, and at the same time, his smile also reflected his adoration, and approval/respect, and also longing as his love still unrequited... and all in a restrained smile, and that restraining aspect just makes everything more deep and beautiful, just perfect❤
People keep talking about the wet shirt scene, but THIS is the scene that truly shows why Colin is the best Darcy ever...the way he looks at Lizzie is pure heart eyes in a non-cheesy way.❤️
Why do I never get fed up watching this scene?
Because, without words, without the shedding of a single article of clothing, it is one of the most passionately romantic moments in film.
its a very realistic dislay of kind manners, respect and very poor regard to be mean.
all wrapped up in one how to pull the rug from a bully without reducing one'self to the bullies level.
Keep calm and find mr darcy

It's really hard to find. And that's why I think that it's better not to marry at all, rather than find Mr. Wickham and be unhappy all your life...
Darcy has quite high standards. If you want a 10, be a 10 (and I'm not only talking about looks).
A look between the two of them that speaks lines of dialogue!
Just the barest hint of a smile, from Mr. Darcy.

Please don't feel embarrassed because I do the same . I adore everything about the BBC Version! I am wearing my DVD out!
I fell in love with the BBC version. Also with Colin Firth
The look of love when she rescues Georgiana. Melts my heart every time.
A beautiful moment. He loved her all the more because she understood instinctively that she had to protect Georgiana from the memory of Wickham and to divert her from that thought. His look conveyed relief, admiration, and love. Colin Firth did an outstanding job. So understated, but yet so apparent.
Mr. Darcy knew at that moment he had chosen the best woman to love, that Caroling Bingley would be a torture for Georgiana..
I don't think Darcy ever considered Caroline. He was supposed to marry Miss De Bourgh but Caroline definitely loves Darcy and thinks she's in with a chance when she absolutely isn't.
@@frankieb43 So true, but she's an insufferable snob and devoid of passion and authenticity, which Elizabeth has in abundance. Caroline also has a mediocre intelligence and is insecure, whereas Darcy recognizes that Elizabeth has intelligence, wit, and is self confident. Attractive qualities in a mate.
I feel like when Darcy really fell in love with Lizzie when she was at Pemberley as he can truly see what their life would be like here, one of the more underrated parts of Elizabeth's character is while Jane is the oldest, Lizzie really is the one who tries to mother her younger sisters. While she has her own issues with her family she also is fiercely protective of them even defending why her sisters are out in society to Lady Catherine, and sadly I think he's realizing how much Georgiana has been deprived of by not having a mother or a sister and he's seeing how easily Elizabeth fills that role.
Why is everybody in the comments talking about Mr Darcy when Elizabeth is being so wonderful here.
To me she is always wonderful.
@@agatask true.
Colin is such an amazing actor, he can show so many types of emotions without barely moving this face, its shows adoration, happiness and pure love, my god I wish I can find someone that look at me like this.
A look who values thousand words, thousend sweetness words
This series is, for me, the one that best adapts to Jane Austen's book. She is exquisite in everything: recreation, costumes, music and the leading couple has extraordinary chemistry. But what is really impressive is the performance of Mr. COLIN FIRTH, he is a true gentleman, very elegant and handsome and an actor out of series ... he does not need to speak (although he has a beautiful voice) his expressions, his smiles and especially their looks say it all, it's wonderful.
No matter how many times I watch this, Darcy makes me smile like a simpleton because of how proud and happily he looks at Elizabeth. It’s so romantic.
The first few seconds just make my heart melt.
That is just the look of love.
If someone looks at me like that I know I have found love lol.
And the last few seconds
I believe he was thinking of a large sunday with hot choc sauce.
Chances are you only have found the second best actor in the world...
I actually stopped the video there, I so melted and I starred too... at him..!
I had a guy look at me like that and it was a terrible idea to be in a relationship with him. Just because a guy is in love with you and looks at you with longing doesn't mean you like him back or that he will treat you the way you deserve. I went on to find my own Mr. Darcy, who shares Darcy's character and morals.
Mr. Darcy must be very happy indeed to see the two angels of his life playing the piano and getting along so well.
The look they share over the piano... It's filled with so much love, passion and deep-bone tenderness. This is how I want the man I love to look at me❤😊
Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth are so cute....good God that look he gave her....
***** Bingley's just such a thorn in their side.
***** Yeah, he is. And that Catherine's Dame Judi Dench, btw. Mmm, well I liked it better than this one, I think mostly because of the differences in when Darcy tells Lizzy his feelings. This one he says more than the other Darcy, and it just feels too drawn out. This Darcy's not too hard on the eyes though, lol
***** That's understandable. I just liked less dialogue. I'm the same with Jane Eyre in some parts; I've watched maybe four versions and I like the one where less is said the most. It's the romanticism that gets me, actions.
***** yeah, that's true. Which one was it? My favorite's the 2007 one, I think the newest version has the young-Magneto as Mr. Rochester.
***** Hmm. Well the 2007 one had Ruth Wilson as Jane Eyre, Toby Stevens was Mr. Rochester; he can pull off kinda lookin ugly like how Mr Rochester is supposed to, but he definitely ain't ugly overall. The 60's one, was that like episodes of it, their thoughts are spoken in the background?
Forget the white shirt scene, this was the scene that blew up my heart.
they crafted an absolute masterpiece with this version. it's really magical. and the casting is without exception, exceptional. sheer delight.
The man is in love, and in no humor at present to deny it!
This scene is one of the reasons this is the best adaptation by far. It’s not in the book, so it’s made up by the production. As someone who’s read this book 8+ times, this turned into one of my favourite scenes because it illustrates so many nuances that you can sense in the book but that’s hard to catch on screen.
Yes! For example, when the Gardiners perceive that Mr. Darcy is overflowing with admiration, you can imagine something like this. I don't mind a screen adaptation taking liberties that fill in gaps and enhance our experience of the story.
I consider this scene an oversight, by Austen aa she should have included in the book. I think she would be pleased with this version.
There's a similar scene in the book. It's when Lizzie and Mrs. Gardiner visit Georgiana and the Bingley ladies for tea. Much of Miss Bingley's dialogue in this scene is taken from that chapter. But, yes, ultimately this scene combines elements from a few different book scenes and makes up a few other elements, but ones that are still faithful to the characters' internal journeys.
1:16 Darcy's like "Huh?" lol That mutual stare at the end, though. If a girl looked at me like that, I would melt.
I'll bet she would if you changed your name to Colin Firth, became 6'2", grew sideburns, and started dressing like a Regency man. But even that's no guarantee.
+Rachel F hahahaha
+Rachel F And becoming a rich regency man with 10.000 pounds at year, obviously
Awww I'm hoping some girl will look at you like that. You see lots of Jane Austen lovers being females so refreshing to see a guy who likes it too.
Yes and the look he gives her are melting too. Kalinilak..But you find a girl you can respect give her that look and ....!
This scene is just perfect. The way they look at each other and smile. Pure love!
Although there is no awkward, piano-playing gaffe for Georgiana or subsequent rescue by Elizabeth in Jane Austen's wonderful novel, I love the liberties that the BBC has taken with this scene because of THE gaze. The adoring gaze that Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy share is beyond words. Having seen P&P too many times to count, I know in my mind that Mr. Darcy does get his Lizzie, but for me this gaze is the first delicious moment that I begin to believe in my heart that he may actually win her love!
Thhe moment when Eliza turns to protect and help Darcy's sister, when she is obviously distressed andftthen she looks to Darcy.
Their bond with only their eyes says so much
Ah, the unbroken gaze! They finally make a mutual connection with each other - and everybody else is oblivious. A great scene.
Colin Firth is playing with his eyes. Such a great actor
THIS is acting. The looks that the give each other are just of the purest happiest love. Both of them are just perfect in these roles. It's hard to play a romantic couple who, because of the time that the story is set in, don't touch or interact with each other a lot. But the looks they give each other are more than enough to show their true feelings.
It also helped that Jennifer Ehle and Colin Firth were dating at the time but broke up by the time the press found out
@@missyadams I heard in an interview from Colin that he actually found that quite hard because he didn't love Elizabeth Bennett, he loved Jennifer! So he found it quite distracting at times! But I guess for this kind of thing where they're just looking at each other, it would be quite helpful :)
The unrestrained love that’s visible on Darcy’s face as he looks at Elizabeth. He never thought he’d have the change to right things with her after his awful proposal. I just love this scene as he can’t even help let all his feeling show in every glance her way. It’s as if it’s just the two of them in the room, to Darcy. He sees no one else.
I think perhaps the best job in this entire miniseries was done by the costumer. The fact that Lizzy and Georgiana are wearing similar gowns shows a similarity in their characters, and I especially love that Mr. Darcy wears trousers instead of breeches. This subtly shows that he's not so stuffy and old-fashioned as we might think, as well as the fact that he's much more relaxed around Pemberley than anywhere else!
Georgiana is in such good hands! Between her brother, and her soon to be sister-in-law, they take such good care of her 🥰
The way he looks at her.. oh i'm melting T T
When Lizzy acts so fast to be by Georgiana's side at the mention of Mr W and move passed it ❤ I think they both realize they are already more of a team than they think ❤
Please excuse me as I go cry uncontrollably. This scene is perfect.
I love Mr Bingley reaction, he's always so nice and ready to compliments the ladies.
This is my favorite scene in the entire series! Never saw another actor convey true love with just a look.
Have watched this millions of times but the intensity never fades. If you watch it in conjunction with the previous scene where Georgiana invites her to play, the immediate jump cut to Colin's look just knocks you over with its intensity. Very well-crafted build of love and understanding between the two characters.
Now I understand why I felt in love with Colin Firth as an actor. I can see Darcy's love in his eyes while Lizzie is singing, he is like "oh my god this woman is amazing, I know why I'm in love with her...". Just incredible. Thanks for posting it ♥
Never have there been a better Darcy and Elizabeth - I think as well as being super perfect for the roles they are so very perfectly matched as a couple!
That smile… I've seen this version about 9 billion times and it's gets me very single time. I love Colin. He's the perfect Mr. Darcy -3
0:06 The pride in Darcy's eyes for Elizabeth is everything ♡♡♡♡ best scene.
If there was any doubt, ANY,that this is the best romancr of all time, just see how Mr Darcy looks at Elizabeth...
I love colin firth as darcy as he adds so much depth to the character❤
Some people say Mr Darcy only smiles at the wedding but he's smiling here!
I have seen three versions of Pride and Prejudice, this one is by far the best..It follows the book word for word. I love Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy and Ehle is great as Lizzie.~
Yes, and I find the 2005 version just gets in my way of finding videos of the 1995 version.
Repeating what one of the gentlemen in the scene said, "absolutely marvellous." And Jennifer Ehle was so beautiful as Elizabeth Bennet.
If memory serves me correct, this scene was missing from the 2005 movie version. That's a big shame, because I feel that this is an important scene. Lizzy basically told Darcy that she will love, take care, and watch out for Georgiana like she's her own sister. If Darcy still had any slightest doubt about Lizzy at this point, it has been put to rest by her compassion.
But this scene wasn't in the book, so the 2005 version is at liberty to remove it.
It is replaced with a different scene.
@@Musicienne-DAB1995The OP was talking about this entire scene from the book chapter 45, which is in the 1995 version (the only difference is the piano scene), while it’s not in the 2005 version. The point is Lizzy is trying to help so that Georgiana won’t have to hear Wickham subtly mentioned anymore from Miss Bingley, and Darcy’s really grateful to her for doing that.
It’s perfect! His eyes, his deep breathing. It’s the perfect look of love.
He just looks so safe in that one moment. I have read several comments, and they have just mentioned love and gratitude, but safety is key too. He went out on a limb, risking so much when he first proposed to her, and he lost. Again, he went out on a limb, but this time, there was minimal, if not nonexistent" misunderstanding. He knew his heart would not be so injured, it was accepted. One of my favorite actors said that love was acceptance, and I think that that adds a whole new layer to their mutual affection. Darcy has been somewhat aloof from the rest of society, and does not particularly care what people may think of him. I know from experience, as I take pains to be quirky, that even when you expect acceptance, it is still an amazing feeling to be correct. This also adds to the safety. And of course he feels secure knowing that his sister is safe, and how well they get along together is splendid. We need to see this, and the movie, at least twice a month I wager.
I've watched ALL versions of P&P and I keep coming back to the 1995 BBC version. It's quite the best! Love the congruity between the BBC version and the book. Jane Austen would've been happy.
I just don't understand why anyone would stray so far from the book. Sure, take some liberties here and there. I like the liberties they took in this miniseries. But there's a point at which the adaptation bears no esemblance to the book. What's the point?
Revisited the whole series today... I missed it all so much. But this scene... My heart... The way they look at each other... Understanding. Spark. Thankfulness. Admiration. LOVE My heart melted. Sigh... Will never grow tired of it.
They are the best Elizabeth and Darcy. The whole choice for the characters in the series is amazing actually. Thank you BBC for creating the eternal piece of beauty. ❤️
Best part of the movie..the looks of passion and love
This is my favourite scene. Jennifer Ehle is superb here, so beautiful!!!
The way lizzie was so sweet for Georgiana is just lovely :')
The way Lizzie immediately diffuses the situation: she refuses to give in to Caroline’s goading and she covers up the slight without embarrassing Georgiana. No wonder Darcy looks at her so.
I love the look Mr. Darcy gives at the end. He is so impressed and grateful to Elizabeth for covering for his sister that the look he gives her just makes me melt!
@SweetKraut I agree the last few seconds are the best. Power to Colin and Jennifer for being able to say so much without words. I think Elizabeth is saying "Don't worry, I'm here. I 'll watch over her." and Darcy's saying "Thank you. I love you." In those few seconds you get to see the characters really in tune with one another, partners in protecting Georgiana.
Mr. Hurst is the best!! he has no idea whats goin on around him??? lost in his own world!
The way Darcy looks at her 😍😍😍
I just love how Mr. Darcy looks in the beginning of this clip. He just looks so enchanted by Lizzy. True & profound admiration. It melts my heart.
Aww, my the most favorite series! 😍
The best Elizabeth and Darcy ! 💞
I like that when they start looking at one another, the music goes from that kind of jarring piano sound to the soft, romantic violins (at 2:28). That was a smart choice on the director's side.
The eye contact at the end between Lizzy and Mr. Darcy wipes me out every time I see this movie. Colin just melts me. There is no other Mr. Darcy but Colin.
Elizabeth is right for Mr. Darcy, she protects those whom she loves, and rightly so. I love how she comes to the aid of Mr. Darcy's only sister.
What do we love actors for? For that they can with one look, create the entire universe of feelings... In the eyes of Mr Darcy and Lizzie there is everything. Unforgettable scene! Unforgettable.
I grew up with this version and Colin Firth was my first actor crush... this whole movie is so subtle, full of tension and undercurrents and wonderfulness. Thank you BBC!!! Thanks for posting this!
As a man,I think the coy look Elizabeth gives Mr. Darcy at 2:21 is beautiful.
Fun fact: Did you know that Georgianna and Lizzie's aunt are mother and daughter? They do look alike.
Had no idea.!
Gosh the way the curls frame Ehle’s face as she locks eyes with darcy its like she’s from a painting from that era...
i love the way he stares at her and we can see him take his every breath, breathing so heavily! it is just exciting.
I love this scene. I find it so romantic the way he looks at her so lovingly. Swoon. And Elizabeth is such a wonderful and strong character. It's difficult to see this scene without getting out the box set and watching the whole 6 hours.
2:24 I remember watching this with my family and at this moment my mum (a massive Jane Austen fan) suddenly yelled “IT’S THE LOOK!” so loudly I actually jumped off the sofa
I watched this series originally with my then teenage daughter and her friend
That particular scene is enchanting and we all sighed with bliss at Darcys longing look at Lizzie
That series was as near perfect as anything could be
I want to be looked at like Mr.darcy and look at him like lizzy please just one time in my life time would be great please😢
@LizzieDoodle16 However, the best moment in this scene, (and arguably the entire series) is at 2:22 - 2:28, because it is Lizzy's silent signal to Darcy that she believes him about what Wickham did to Georgiana, that she trusts him, and ultimately, loves him. That is why the series is generally considered better than the movie, as it has all of Austen's own subtle signals and clever wit, almost directly from the book. (Which I have read around 5 times, so I will call myself an Austen fan!)
Ah, good point about Elizabeth believing Darcy's account about Wickham! Did not think of that.
I think between 2:22 and 2:28 she is actually accepting his marriage proposal.
owh, mr darcy, stop staring through the youtube screen so adoringly, you're making me blushed!
