Zwei Jahre lang hat Georg Schlunegger nach den schönsten Männerstimmen der Schweiz gesucht. Gefunden hat er Sänger, die ähnliche Wurzeln haben wie er selbst, aus dem Muotathal, dem Emmental oder dem Appenzell. Begabte Popsänger und urchige Jodler, tiefe Bässe und hohe Tenöre aus sieben Kantonen vereinen sich zu einem Chor, wie ihn die Schweiz noch nie gesehen hat. Zusammengeschweisst von einer der stärksten Emotionen überhaupt: Dem Heimatgefühl. Das ist «Heimweh».
Entstanden sind moderne Schweizer Volkslieder, poppig und doch traditionell. Die Männer zwischen 24 und 55 Jahren besingen Geschichten, wie sie jeder kennt und erlebt. Sie singen vom Wunsch nach Liebe, Heimat und einer Familie. Von Sehnsucht, Hoffnung und Träumen.
