  • This is a video of me showing you how I'm growing Honeyberry, also known as Mamoncillo or Spanish Lime, from seeds. Also, I'm sharing with you the things I learned about this tree like how it grows from seeds and the best method to grow it. At the end of this video, you will see the amazing growth within 4 days after making the how-to video. Enjoy!
    STARTING Honeyberry from seeds:
I recommend that you use the soil method and not the 'toothpick' method.
Water regularly, but do not over water it.
Make sure that the container has a hole to allow good drainage of excess water.
Expect growth within 2-3 weeks. Depending on the seed, and the right climate, some may grow earlier and some may grow later.

Wonderful video! The "quenepa" tree (that's how it's known in Puerto Rico) is huge and does take years to bear fruit. But it is so worth it! Yummmm. Thank yor for sharing!

Just get a small pot pack it with good dirt and stick your thumb in the middle as far down as you can. Drop whole fruit in and add soil to level off and water once a day or every time the soil is dry. Boom! Tree!

Great video 👍 Thank you very much for sharing this instruction video. It would be nice if you can do a follow up in several months after this video to show the development of the trees.

Puerto Rico they are called Quenepas...I am really puzzled by the description Spanish lime. These fruits are sweet as mangos. I found someone who shows how to grow from seed. But you showed many different ways and best results! Thank You

If it rooted, the leafing will self orient there’s no need to change its positioning. 😘👌🏾Good job on germination, I think I would go for a x2 deeper pot as they appear to have very long tap roots.

I grew up eating the fruit and still crave it ...when it gets a little darker the skin they become sweet but the greener you get them the more sour ...any one knows where or who would sell a plant trimming? I want less years to wait :)

@MrNativeDancer Hi! Mamoncillo grows in tropical - sub tropical regions. I think the one you are referring to is different from the one I have growing. The blue honeyberry that you are talking about grows in a much colder, northern region; while the mamoncillo (green color) grows in a warm, southern region. I hope to taste the blue honeyberries one day. :)

Is it remotely possible to overwinter these indoors in a big south-facing window? I live in Connecticut, and my guy's family just sent us a care package of these from their backyard tree in Puerto Rico. I'm not expecting to ever get fruit, but I really want to try to grow them!

Not to burst your bubble, but you'll probably be walking with a cane before that actually bares any fruit. lol There are several other names for them; in Trinidad and Tobago, it's called Chenettes, and in Guyana, it's called Guinep.
