Andy, I used to run an insulation company and the material came in the same size bags as your dirt does. Instead of cutting a band around the middle, try cutting an X on the large flat side from opposite corner to opposite corner and then flip it over and slide the entire bag off to dump the soil into the hopper.

The other day I found some 8 year old pumpkin seeds I had in a drawer, planted them now I have a bunch of little pumpkin plants haha

Look for you some skate conveyor to move your soil bags from pallets to your intake. Used sections are usually reasonably priced. Will improve your staging tremendously.

Sure glad Matt got all the new parts for Big Blue...or, you would have had to unload that Pioneer corn by hand! The new soil machine is worth every penny and mile you spent on it. Saving your bodies is really important. Tacos sure do sound good for dinner.

That new machine for the soil is amazing, might try and make a homemade version for myself this year during the quiet time between planting and sprouting to repotting. But it will be about quarter of the size as I only use about 1 pallet of soil a year

Seeds in the snail mail is risky depending on the mode of transporting. I took delivery of some sealed glass vials that went on a unpressurized plane ride. They now explode when I open them.

You guys find that a high concentrate of peat moss yields a stable starting mix? Looks like some vermiculite and perlite in that mix?
I fill about 80 32 cell trays each season for veg and have been getting some serious dampening off. Trying my best with what i got to work with for climate control but dont have much infrastructure. I think some issues im experiencing is with the soil selection.
Grow zone 6A. Your channel is one of the few Veg channels out there and boy do i appreciate all the advice.
@@davelawson2564 Thanks Dave. My setup is hard to balence because im not heating the soils like these guys. I'm using forced air heat which dries out the soils pretty bad if left unmonitored. The next investment will be some germination mats or a water setup like in thier Greenhouse.
