Jim Morrison was buried at the super famous cemetery in Paris, Père Lachaise Cemetery. You cannot believe all of the crazy famous people buried there. Will never forget going there one grey, frigid day a few days before Christmas. Cobblestone streets in this very large cemetery. We were looking for specific people's graves and Jim's was one of them. Hardly a soul in the cemetery until we got to his grave. Apparently, always a crowd. Really like a shrine.

Ray Manzarek on keyboards is the underrated heart of this band. The Doors have no bass guitar player at all. As i understand it, when they had once thought to add a bass player early on, Ray Manzarek experimented instead with a "bass keyboard" and from that time on, they never considered having a electric bass player and all the rhythm normally kept with the bass and drums, are instead utilizing the bass keyboard and drums as rhythm section. And all the while, Ray is playing the normal "lead" keyboard music also. I have never heard of another band doing such a thing.

Side note, Formation: the Doors were originally Rick & the Ravens, with Ray, Rick, and Jim Manzarek, along with John Densmore on Drums and Patty Sullivan on Bass, When Ray's brothers left the band Ray recruited Morrison to sing and they brought in Robbie Krieger on guitar, they auditioned several bass players that none of them liked, so Ray decided to use the Fender Rhodes to handle bass work and they went without a bass player. they were planning to recuit a bass player eventually, but then got signed to elektra and they just said "fuck it" and went on without one - I know thats more information than you'd ever need, but I'm a self made library of useless Doors information :)

Being a child of the 50s and 60s, born in 1951, I love that you guys are discovering and digging the music from the Golden Era of Rock and Roll, blues, R&B, etc. It was a period of incredible creativity in music.
A little context for you, a "road house" was a precursor of truck stops. On most major highways that trucks traveled road houses were abundant. Out back of the road house were one room "bungaloes" where ladies of the evening plied their trade.

Fun fact: the Doors did not have a bass player. The “bass” notes you hear are made with a synthesizer.

Second, listing off studio bassists who laid down tracks with them does not make those people band members. Kerry King laid down lead tracks with Pantera but he wasn’t a member.
