- Former Prime Minister and Distinguished Fellow of the IPA, Tony Abbott, and the IPA's Deputy Executive Director Daniel Wild discuss the commercial and political division caused by Qantas' cozy relationship with the federal government.
Tony also shares his unique perspective on current polling which has the No case ahead, and the future of Australia's energy system with the recent announcement that the NSW government will enter talks to keep the Eraring coal-fired power station open beyond 2025.

Well spoken Tony
Like Tony's example to include Aboriginal s and all living in Australia a very inclusive indigenous people keeps everyone covered fairly. We VOTE NO to referendum. We do NOT need a 4th level of government.
Tony Abbott - a very able politician. Can see the 'problems' and come up with sensible 'solutions' for the benefit of this country.
He is streets ahead of his 'protagonists'.
Your now irrelevant mad monk boyfriend did a "great job" 😂 - FIRED twice: pm and local member.
LOL…a backwards thinking, overly conservative, economically illiterate nothingman. His prime ministership has zero legacy, he achieved nothing, and had no courage to drive any reform.
Ask Tony Abbott if he believes in virgin births, and all of the fables that follow that. Once he has answered then ask yourself about his mental acuity.
Tony Abbott talking good sense when all around us our politicians have lost their heads.
The now irrelevant mad monk lost twice - FIRED : pm and local member 😂. Now working on onion recipes.
Here’s hoping common sense prevails even in these ridiculous times…
Tony’s inclusive words are beautiful - respecting the original inhabitants, the legal and governmental heritage from Britain and the many people from diverse countries who have made Australia home and contributed to this wonderful
country.
Tony Abbott is absolutely right, renewables is NUTS so is labor
Yeah I'm not against using renewables... I'm against using renewables that don't work!!! Labor have for some reason decided that wind and solar (the two least reliable renewables) are the best way forward. If you look at countries that have reliable power and 100% renewables it's always using geothermal and other forms. Nuclear is clearly the best alternative until we have the reliable renewable options
@@samroscoe944 coal fire power stations were doing fine and reliable, I guess nuclear going forward is the innovative option, however windmills and solar panels are destroying the environment which they are supposed to save it. The mind boggles, but labor is doing exactly what KLAUS SCHWAB wants done, and that is to destroy the country and we will own nothing and be happy. Dan Andrews did a great job in Victoria and now he’s been appointed Australian delegate for WEF. Great isn’t it
@@tlb2970 yeah, I totally agree. I am not against coal or any type of energy production that is reliable, because lives depend on reliable power. But we have seen now that climate activists will not prioritise lives over CO2 emissions. So I think we have to adapt and move to nuclear before they start sacrificing Australians for their misguided climate agenda.
Government policy screwed the energy market so just get the government out of it completely and it will correct
itself, are we a market economy or not?
Tony has alway been about improving the outcomes for indigenous people but was also realistic enough to know that the taxpayers can’t go on funding a life style choice. It is unrealistic to live in a tiny remote community and then expect the same services available in cities and major rural towns
Never did a thing for them in his life except push down hard on them. As we see demonstrated clearly now in the Referendum. The townships could supply nice background for his to camera pieces when he was in power that's about it for the day before yesterday's man.🤔🤫😒😉
Totally terrific statement
Was he ever Prime Minister no no no what’s he got about the Aboriginals thats so hateful
Go away mr nobody Abbott
Sadly Tony, Albanese has not proved himself to be a man of his word. Great to hear someone speak words of common sense during these insane times, as Tony always does.
I highly recommend Planet of the Humans a 2019 American environmental documentary film written, directed, and produced by Jeff Gibbs. It is backed and promoted by Michael Moore, who is also the executive producer. It is available to view online.
A basic thesis of the film is that green energy cannot solve the problem of society's expanding resource depletion, which is by definition unsustainable given that the Earth is finite. The film argues that green energy sources, including wind power, solar energy, and biomass energy are not truly renewable or sustainable.
I've seen that, fabulous doco
We as a country certainly need this man BACK IN POLITICS
Why so he can dismantle our health system & raise prices even more ,he is a fool that shouldn’t be in charge of a chook Raffle.Aboriginal people are only 4% because white man nearly wiped them out .
We certainly do need him back asap.
Tony was one of the four Liberal Prime Ministers that I had dealings with while in the Liberal Party - he was second only to Howard and in some ways better.
Unfortunately the public in Warringah did not agree with you and voted him out comprehensively. There was general delight to be rid of his concocted and fearmongering security policies. The apparenly dire threats largely disappeared with his departure. Of course, News Corp and the IPA still miss him desperately. 😮😊😅
Howard was where are problems began. All his policies were about getting himself reelected. Pissed the mining boom up against the wall.
Tony Abbott is 5he best PM since John Howard & should be back there as PM.
Only the 5th best since Howard? I would have had him as the 6th or 7th best.
@@peterb666 people seem to agree with me
Both dead letters even for the far lunatic Right. 😮😊
Wonderful man. Wish he was back
We don't want another one
The voice has it letters and numbers . Tanks Gentleman.
Are these podcasts on Spotify ?
How dare you expose Bowen policies. But you speak the truth.
"Oppositions don't win elections...governments lose them." It really is fascinating hearing Tony Abbott speak. John Howard, too.
On ya bike Tony!
The 119s don't like this guy.
I agree these fools that want all this wind power are complete dillls ,running on empty...
It’s a sad day if we have to rely on Tony Abbott to provide Australia with advice for businesses. On the question of “the dangerous and divisive Voice” Abbott stands loyal to the opinion of Dutton … that it’s better to be conservative, make no progress on narrowing the gap, to continue the arrogance of partisan “Canberra rule” and to divide our nation. Very disappointing, Tony and IPA.
No more refredendums we have all had enough I vote NO sack albonese his a traitor
We think we know what you mean.😮
Fabian society Mayson. You can search it online easily enough. Serving ideals from a discreet society on a nation where the other 99% are not part of. So you are right really
He’s a Note vote with problems galore to come
Tony was a,good PM
Neither the Liberal Party or his constituency agreed with that proposition. 😮😢😊😅
Not sure if Mr Tony is chasing terrorist.
He'd certainly love to be on any pretext at all. 😮😊
Tony was a conservative which is why the LNP dumped him for a woke. Voted for Tony and like him, his ideas are all simple common sense. His only downfall, one shared by Peta Credlin is being in the US Neocon warmonger camp. As long as we are a vassal state we have no sovereignty, as such decisions are made to always benefit the US and not Australia. Until that breaks the country can't move forward, nor under the heel of corporate woke either for that matter, again, no sovereignty.
Albo has met all my expectations; bubblegum thick shake. No more, no less.
9:10 ".. with an indigenous heritage, a British foundation, and an Immigrant character" all 3 voting #No
Hi Tony, you made some interesting comments about Qantas, but I'm not clear on something. How does the old phrase "go woke go broke" apply to a business that has just announced a $2.47bn profit.
I was also wondering, would you be willing to extend your comments about companies leaving politics to politicians to Hancock Prospecting, Phillip Morris, British and American Tobacco, Caltex Shell ,Esso and Exxon, all of whom have funded the Institute of Public Affairs. Finally do you think companies should stop donating to the major political parties like the LNP because the money they make should go toward things like "earring their social licence" by "giving a good service to their customers, treating their staff well, and returning a healthy margin to shareholders".
We need the downfall of the WEF.
Tony, move to LibDem party. Libs are done.
In Australia you can vote for Labour left, Green left, Teal left or Liberal left. Tony Abbott stopped the boats. Beyond that he was very average, easily distracted and not a conservative.
Baby interviewer, too many leading questions... I could interview better than you with 1 mins notice.
You could see he is in the pockets of oil and gas with his last comments….
Abbot was the worst all he did was lie & break every promise he made .he should be in jail.
Don’t be childish
Name one ! You can't.
Total onion flavoured bs..
How can abbott talk about the nations future. He is a far far right conservative and conservatives want nothing to change, ever. So this is the future acording to Abbott - no change folks, everything the same, nothing new.
Your argument implies change is inherently good
@deltakiloalpha it's also a straw man as the majority of conservatives aren't really about nothing ever changing just more cautious and measured change and preserving of values.

Awesome. Don't really want men in dresses hanging out with infants do we
WOW I nearly fell out of my chair, a political that actually speaks “COMMON SENSE” 🫡 🍻
