Promise me you never take anyone down this trail again đŻđ”Mountain Biking Iwatake
VloĆŸit
- Äas pĆidĂĄn 2. 07. 2019
- We got to ride some amazing trails AND see some amazing sights on this day. It was the perfect combination of culture and stoke. After a mellow green run in Iwatake bike park we headed out of bounds into the belly of the beast and things got quite silly.

Hey Brian it was great having you and the guys stay with us at Hakuba Downtown Apartments. Both Shiho and myself really enjoy the video although there are two bathrooms in that apartment :) . If anyone watching this video and wants to come to Japan and ride reach out and we'll hook you up.
Love when you share some of the culture on these international trips! đ€
KeZ .......I think that is one element that sets his channel apart from most. Hope he never changes as it makes it more than just a riding video. Perfect balance imho. Great job Brian. Only thing missing is more snoring content lol.
giant wooden sculpture? looks like a penis
Yours and Syd and Mackys vlogs are the best mtb vids, so entertaining, honest and inspirational. Your life choices are awesome đđ
Another great video Brian thanks. Good luck on the B.C. Bike Race. I will be on the side lines cheering for you and all my other Favourite CZcamsrs during the North Vancouver Section.
I love the travelogue aspect of your adventures. It adds so much context to the people and area that flavour the trails.
Good vids, B. I like all the little culture stuff you throw in, especially when you were walking around in the city and that traditional place you stayed.
It's so nice to be able to find follow someone when you are riding blind. Great editing on this one! I enjoyed the extra bit of culture in between trail rides.
Breath of fresh air is one of the perks i love about trail rides.
Hey Brian, between you, Seth, Alex and Phil, you have just about convinced me to start putting a few clips up on CZcams. Thankyou for setting such a standard and the constant inspiration.
Also, Japan is amazing. Going back at Christmas time, 14 years after my first visit. Can't wait!
Fantastic!!
I like that you show us a little of the sightseeing stuff too đ
Great Stuff buddy đ some nice trails đŽđđ
Jeeees the totally was an adventure holy. best one yet lol. thanks for the adventure!!
Another great ride with some really interesting culture Brian. Nothing like some pointy sticks to focus the mind
Continued success bro!
Man, great ride. I already want to go to Japan and ride some trails when there because of Eric's BCpov series. You make this wish most stronger! Japan besides a lot of cultural places seen to have great trails.
That was a fun segmentđđŻđ”
"There's a lot of uhmmmm...impaling elements." LOL!
Fantastic vid! Right after you said "what's over that hump", I really thought you were going to get very familiar with that tree on your left...glad you didn't.
Soo much good content on this trip. I think that you should revisit again some day.
21:10 with Matt's face + head shake is priceless from a guide! If you didn't get it then, there might not be a next time with such a trail! Hahaha
I was the guy in the minivan. Good luck in BC.
Japan looks awesome. definitely need to go one day. love the video.
hahaha first time i watch Brian pulling of the middle finger xD
Made me lol..loved the story :)
Love the shirt!!! Great vid too
That last trail looks hella legit!!! Gotta love the raw stuff... things are way too groomed in most places nowadays!
Haha yeah it was pretty crazy!
I love mountains landscapes dude.
Watching CZcams in a Walmart before going to the bike park, loveing the Japan videos have fun and be safe at bc bike race
Thanks Emily!!
Brian the Peace Mandela is not a Swastica it's reversed! Had you not noticed!!
love it.. I was working in Nagano/Hakeba for the 1998 Winter Olympics.. Great people, great sport, and the mountains were amazing. We used to hang out at the Riberty Bar in Nagano. The sign for the place was complete with the Liberty Tree but it said Robert.. classic.
Nice!!
Beard is looking good Bri, god damn Japan looks incredible, I already knew it was a fantastic destination but the more I see the more I want to go.
Great ride,
i know you've probably covered this but loving the red cable connectors where'd ya get them fancy things
Japan here we go!!!
Thanks for all the great mountain bike videos, I've been stuck on this Island called Guam since February without my bike, so what do you do...scouring CZcams for my bike fix videos! Anyways, I came across those Tohato Caramel Corn snacks you got and couldn't resist since you were raving about them!
Keep safe and keep up the great videos.
Awesome!!!
You are an inspiration as a good californian person (already had the pleasure to know and stay for some time in SF) you are also seem to be what we call here "boa onda"; a cool guy. Always had hardtails and I may say that because of you I changed my bike, can't afford to have a top bike but I have a reasonable one thou and started doing some trails here in Portugal when I find them, I enjoy every moment of it.
First time commenting here, I like to watch and enjoy your videos mostly, sorry. Happy 4h of July keep shredding ;-)
Thanks for the great comment!!!
Yeah, Taking a rest at local shrine & temple is part of trail ride in japan!
Dude!! I volunteer to willingly pound that trail!! Helps that knowing the way it sheds tires means snakeskin or armored side walls are the order of the day..... Keep up the good work.
The food in Japan is to die for, 7-11,Family Mart, Lawsonâs and all the others are great. Iâve never struggled to find tasty food in Japan. Cool trail as well đđđ»đđ»
Great vlog, just curious on the camera you are using on trail/ walkabout, it has great stabilization, cheers
At minute 4:29 i noticed the guy on the Kona bike has a phone holder..would you happen to know that's a quad lock? Thanks for the vids Brian
Wow...that tree was calling for you!
Love AJâs style
I saw those Nuun electrolytes on the dresser. Those are the absolute best!
I'm amazed at your courage, but the thing that stands out to me the most is: how is your camera so incredibly stable?
Japan is a beautiful place to go for a bike vacation. Next time try Yamagata ken.
That was some jank baby!! Wicked trail
Looked killer there. Glad to see some janky trail ridden
Hakuba hahaha thatâs where I went for the snow! Fresh powder.. Australian...
Are you actively seeking a 7-11 sponsorship? hahah
@flatwoods: my theory is he has 7-11 stock!
Nice!!! I am impress how you move with the food
WOW That's a pretty nice trail
Hey Brian, you forgot to get some soft serve ice cream after the bowl of soba. Cool place. Take it easy.
đ„đ„Brutal!!!
Hayy, Brasilll!đđ
That was a close call!
Sweet!
Your gonna miss the 7 n 11 store Brian lol cant wait for the trail awesome
Hey man, coming to Cali in October for my birthday and was wondering if you could recommend the best spot for a guided tour???
Awsome !!!
About the swastika... the Nazi version is reversed compared to the one you see in the temples
yeah exactly the nazi's flipped it.
Alex no, the clockwise symbol was also a part of Hinduism before nazis.
No one is going to wear it on a shirt or put it on their car as a sticker, no matter what direction it is going.
BKXC, no you're right. Don't be putting it on your merch haha
Mathis Brothers Furniture sells a mattress called William & Lawrence that has both swastikas all over it. Random fact 2019
Your a really good mountain biker
Cool vids
I could hear your heart pumping! Haha!
I love đŻđ”
Hey brother you should visit nepal for awesome views and then a shreeding downhill road!!!!
Looks like your in training for megavalanche 2020
If I didnât know where you were, the trees flying by could be any deciduous forest. Iâm sure the trees are distinctive. But small world actually. Seems like owning plastic stock in Japan would be lucrative. Wonder what kind of recycling they have.
I don't remember seeing separate bins!
I've had sleep apnea for as long as I can remember. Getting my own room has always been a preferred arrangement for the unbearable snoring that I "supposedly" do.
Tech Question - How far back are you sitting when you go down the insane downhill?
News at 11: Most people snore when they sleep on their back. Also, it is generally the healthiest position to go to sleep, as long as your nose is not running.
BKXZZZZ!!!
Hahaha
Hey !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!đ
Good luck at the bc bike race
Seems you didnât have to much fun on this ride. Still very interesting to learn more on there culture!
Haha, survival mode!!
at 22:08 what is that above the chimney on the house to the left?
How about running in the mountain of japan.I didn't think I would come to Japan.
Brian, what brake pads do you use for such long descents? Sintered, metal or organic?
I don't remember!
I dig that all black hat haha kinda want one now
neat seth's bike hacks jersey
best tip I found if you snore like a freight train like me- get housemates that go to bed before you and sleep like fallen tree's, took them months before they noticed I actually snore XD
What kind of break pads are you running for these long descents.
I don't remember!
nice.
Also really wish our 7elevens out here were like in Japan... Though could do without that much plastic though...
Hey Brian I'm looking to buy a new full suspension bike because right now I'm riding an old hard tail that's way to small for me. Since I'm new to riding I dont want to spend a fortune on a bike, Any recriminations?
Wow what a crazy trail....youâve had a bunch of ridges this trip huh!?
Iâm glad you brought up the elephant of the swastika, Iâd love to comment but this channel is about riding, not politics......
noriohayakawa.wordpress.com/2016/02/10/the-difference-between-the-buddhist-swastika-symbol-and-the-nazi-swastika-symbol/
A Tanuki is a Raccoon Dog. The Swastika is pointing the opposite way form the Buddhist Symbols. That last trail you rode I rode on a Klien Mantra with V brakes in a typhoon. Man up bro. I love your videos. BTW
Brian I'll be riding snowshoe bike park this weekend. Never rode park before. I ride like you, no massive jumps or drops. I'm too old for that shit and not skilled enough. Any tips for enjoying my trip and rolling off the mountain injury free?
I haven't been to Snowshoe, but I always ride the same whether it's a massive descent, bike park, if I'm wearing a full face. Other factors don't change my approach or willingness to put myself in danger.
DUDE! Now I know why you snore so loud. You are living the dream!
Hahaha!
Why is your handle bar like leaning towards you? :)
Hey! Try here in philippines
What shades are you wearing?
Smith Attack MAx
Close encounter of the tree kind!
Lotte Coolish Vanilla. If the astronauts could eat something akin to "real" ice cream, they'd be eating "Coolish". The concept is ice milk that you squeeze up and eat out of a tube, because we like our ice cream eating experiences to resemble things like dispensing toothpaste or hemorrhoid cream.. (Not my words, but their's) :-)
Haha yes!
15:04 It's Private Black Bear to You Brian! End of the day he has one shevron on his chest ;-p ;-p
Not wanting to create any problem or drama for your channel, however that symbol although very similiar is not the nazis swastika (a right turning 45 degree symbol). I believe manji (a left turning square standing symbol) means good fortune. It is a, I believe a Buddhist religious symbol.
11:42 treeee
There's a lot of lawsuit element on that trail if u bring your client to ride there đ
13:01 jackrabbit sighting
Did you rattle your fillings out of your head on the end of that downhillđ
Yeah, for sure, Always get your own room! Even if I'm in my own tent when camping, I setup my tent as far away for other people as possible.
The Finnish Airforce used use the Swastika long before Hitler , some see it as a symbol of freedom and independence but given its associations with the Nazi it is clearly hard for people to see it in other situations
