    Fantastic! I've been wanting to do this to my band tee shirts since they're all crew cut cause they're unisex and I find I get claustrophobic with a higher neck. Thanks heaps :D

    • @donnabursey1457

      I've also seen that you can just stretch it and the material will roll, which is a nice look. Or you do a simple blanket stitch in a contrasting color. The thing is, you don't have to "finish" it, because t-shirt jersey fabric doesn't fray. It's a beautiful thing.

    Thanks! I got a basic white shirt I was hoping would be a good winter layer, but the crew neck is an awkward shape and shows under most of the blouses I want to pair it with. Looks like an easy fix!

    For the people who are asking about sewing, or fraying edges, I've never had that problem when cutting t-shirts. The material naturally rolls under a little bit, and doesn't fray. :)

    Most jersey t-shirts do not fray when cut. You can add in a seam by cutting 5/8ths of an inch closer to your cut line, and then "hem" it to make a seam. Very Easy.

    This comment was made a while ago, but the fabric t-shirts are made out of (called a jersey knit) doesn't fray. They hemp sleeves and the bottoms of t-shirts to keep it from rolling- not unraveling.

    oh, what about the raw edges?

    • @ItsSusieQue96
      @ItsSusieQue96 Před 7 lety +5

      tshirt jersey doesn't "ravel" so there is no need to "finish" them, though you can if you're too conservative to wear an unfinished edge. There are several tutorials showing how to retain the original binding from the shirt to form a new edge, but most of the attempts I have seen people do were puckered and uneven and looked even less finished than the raw edges. You can also opt for doing decorative stitching or even a zig-zag on the raw edge, or add ribbon or other trim.
