Hi Daniel, good review covering most things about AD200s. Rear silicone protector is neat. Like you, mine never fell over since I fitted this. Only have the one, must but a second 'bumper'. The small round reflector you have yet to try is particularly good for it's compact size. But, won't yield the softest of light as it's only a small area. IMO good outdoors for punching in light against backlit bright sun to avoid silhouette effect and give detail in faces etc, but best thought of as a hard light. My metal bulb protectors do fit OK, but he soft metal bayonet interface is prone to bending slightly which reduces the ease of fitting. Solution just adjust bayonet 'teeth' slightly for a better fit. That said possibly not essential. Also AD-B2 neat idea, but I only ever used mine occasionally so possibly not essential. I just bought a couple of AD400s so will now use those rather than attempting to convert 2x AD200s (quite slow) into a 400 Ws head. Godox do a 'bargain' small umbrella with a bayonet mount for use with bare bulb. It's circa $25 or £20 here in UK ex eBay. Comes with a small metal internal reflector (bit like a folding mini beauty dish). It's uber compact (folded), although only a small brolly circa 17 inch (can't recall exact size) it's surprisingly effective, especially working close to subjects. Also easy to have 2 or 3 on diff heads if you need broader, softer light etc. It looks a bit 'toy' like and one might think useless. Also low price it's easy to think it's useless too! But, well worth checking out - see Markus Pix vids. He can afford any light he wants but swears by these (also the small head you have yet to try). Just bought a new mini on-cam controller (Gen 3), yet to try. Some recommend, but might not be quite as easy to use (on account of tiny controls and display) as the second get Pro controller that you show and I like. You don't mention augmenting with an AD100. Although nominally half the power the AD100 is very comparable to the AD200 output when using the optional round heads that you show. I use both and nowadays tend to favour the AD100 rather than an AD200 fitted with a 'round' head. The optional accessory kit (well worth checking out) is what make the small round head system versatile and valuable in some situations. That said it's pretty small, can be fiddley, a bit 'toy' like and limited as any modifier cuts down power etc. But has application IMO as a hair light, small fill where you need to control spill (more dramatic portraits etc) so better suited to dark or darker locations. Probably of very limited 'run & gun' use or in bright hard to control spaces and/or outdoors in sunlight. Like anything it's just another 'tool' that will suit some but not all. Of all the above, my no.1 first pick as a modifier is the little known, small, relatively cheap, bayonet umbrella soft box. But, yer pays yere money, and makes yer choice! If cost is no object for flash kit and you have the space, time, studio, models, clients etc then nothing from Godex comes close to a fully loaded Broncolour studio set up with giant para reflectors. Profoto maybe second? But I sold my small Profoto kit and bought a load of Godox kit and still had lots of change to buy other stuff.

Nice video! I have the 2x AD200’s, an MS300v and the AD600BM. I love the Godox ecosystem. Best on the market that won’t eat up your wallet like Profoto lol! It’s funny you talked about the protectors bcuz I ordered 2 different ones on Amazon. 1 fit decently and the other was too rough going in. As for the small reflectors, I have used them several times for windy days and they don’t do too bad! You should really give them a shot! What sucks about the boots for the AD200’s is if you mount 2 AD200s to the AD-B2, you can’t use the boots. Wish they made some sort of a double boot for the AD-B2 setup. Now the one thing I have wanted to try was my AD200pro with my Gary Fong. I haven’t had an opportunity to test it but I’m very interested to see how that compares to the round head with the dome diffuser. Anyway, thanks again for the vid!
Thanks for commenting! The AD200’s should work well with the Gary Fong modifier. I left mine at shoot a while ago. The round diffusers are just so easy to use. I don’t think I’ll go back.

I am thinking about picking up the MagMod setup though. I want to test the AD-B2 with dual bulb vs double AD200 fresnel heads in the MagMod setup. Want to see which provides better lighting depending on the diffuser. Would be fun to see the results. Haven’t seen any videos like that just yet.
There is a small (20ish inch?) softbox they make that attaches directly to the bare bulb head just like the reflector (and it slides on easy. I actually really like it for what it is. Not as soft as a big Octa of course, but super light, portable, quick, and comes with a grid. I like to bring it hiking, or whener weight is a concern, or when I'm not sure if I'll need a modifier or not when heading out for the day. Def worth the $26!
Great video on the AD200. I have two of them and two V860iis and they were great for weddings and event work. The thing I like the most about that strobe is it size and portability. It is barely longer than my two flashes, and because of the dimensions my strobes fit easier into my camera bag than the flashes. Lol. I’m considering getting the bracket to make the AD200 into a 400, but I don’t have a pressing need for it at the moment.
It is hard to beat the portability of the AD200. It is so easy to carry. I actually have only used the bracket to make it into an AD400 on one shoot. One AD200 can stand on its own for most shoots.
@@photographybydaniellee Right. That's why I haven't run to get the bracket. I never shoot mine at anywhere near full power and I've been good so far... and I live in Florida. I do try not to shoot in super bright conditions, but I haven't needed it yet.
I'm new to flash, but just got a v860iii and if i find i use it enough, i like that i can grab a ad200 as my next step and my s2, ml-cd15 dome and trigger all carry over. Godox provides a lot of bang for the buck.
Great video. I am interested in the Godox AD200 Pro for my Photo Booth using my Canon RP. Most photo boothers use the Godox MS300v, can I get the same thing done with this AD200 Pro? I am going for less wires and will be used with a backdrop.
I picked up the little reflectors for both of my ad200 pros. They work ok. Light is still harsh. I ended up picking up the magmod flash kit because it included the grid. I much prefer that setup over the Godox reflectors. The grid allows me to control the spill better. Plus the magmod setup is a lot easier to transport.
Thank you very much. As long as I have been using them, I have never used a whole battery. I actually bought extra batteries, but I have never used more than one in a session.
Great question. I had one for my Ad600 that broke. I bought the new one for my current AD200 setup. And that second one-I can’t remember why I got that one. I have learned, it is good to have a backup trigger (and batteries). I had a shoot where a trigger wouldn’t work, but I had an extra that saved the day.
