    Great video and thanks for posting it. I have been using them for 2 winters now and they work fine on my 7 degree slopped driveway along with 3 JD suitcase weights. I took the JD out today to remove some slush to help a sheet of ice melt. Forgot my rear suitcase weights the tire got too spinning and the chain almost came off. I didn't get the Terras tight enough so I will have to fix it soon. I like the use of the ratchet clamp and the tie wraps to hold the end of the chain back. I am going to Lowes tomorrow and get a clamp. Also removing and adding air to the tires will help. Thanks again for the video and the great ideas. I am hoping it makes installing the terra grips easier as they can they can be somewhat difficult.

      They are a great traction device. Good luck and let me know how things workout for you. I would deffinately buy a new set if and when the time comes. Thanks for watching and commenting - Enjoy the journey - cheers

      @@botabob Hi Bob, just wanted to let you know the ratchet clamps worked great! I bought a 4 pack of 6" clamps and I am glad I did. The spacing of the terra grips were a little more than 6" so I started clamping on the inside of the tire after hooking that side and worked my way out using the clamps. Worked great, thanks for the tip and thanks for your videos. I subscribed to your channel so I will get the new ones you make when they come out. Take care!

    I highly think these will work well for all year long use with weights. As they won't tear up your lawn either and can act like industrial tread tires for garden tractors.

      Thanks for the suggestion - They work really good in the snow - but, they do make the tractor bounce a little. I will try to install them this year without removing the wheels from the tractor - maybe I have learned a little since last years install - Thanks for watching and commenting - enjoy the journey - cheers

      @@botabob no problem. Thinking about getting them for my Craftsman DGS6500 garden tractor. Already have wheel weights on it. Was thinking about these or ag tires for it.

      The Terra Grips are excellent - I think you will like the traction they provide - I had ag tires on the back before, and they were good, but I think the Terra Grip is better - honestly the turf tires do good on the snow here, but once in awhile they will spin and I need to engage the differential lock - have a great day

    Looks good ! If you don’t have it in already, I recommend some type of fluid that’s non corrosive in the rear tires. Really makes a difference I think because it keeps the center of gravity low and if more weight is needed use bolt on wheel weights too. Bolt on weights without fluid filled tire not quite as good but better than none. From experience, weight makes a big difference in how good that traction is gonna be. Have a Blessed Day and stay warm, it looks cold in your garage.

    It sucks how it locks to gather. I used your method. Going to replace that lock with a turnbuckle.

    Taking the tire off, smart. I’m literally installing mine in right now. I think I’m going to use my floor Jack and lift the rear end.

      @@botabob I didn’t take the tire off, used the Jack. I aired down the rear tires before putting them on (craftsman t210 by the way). I’ve been able to tighten the inside hooks by one, but I’m really having trouble moving the outside latch straps any further.
      Mine are not taught by any means, but I took a lap with them on and they did not move much or have any issues. Man, these are something. I should have taken the tire off like you. Really appreciate the video, sir.

      After you drive for a little bit, try adjusting again - Airing down the tires is a good idea - I must say, I like the fact that they don't make any noise - and the traction was superior to running with out them - I bought them a year ago, and this week was the first opportunity I had to test them. I'm glad the video was helpful, sometime a person wonders if it will make a difference - a lot of my video I make to help me remember things for the next time I have to do the same thing. ha ha

    I think those will work fine on snow, but I'd say on ice,, regular tire chains would work better.

    How much for those compared to regular chains?

    • @botabob
      @botabob  Před 3 lety

      Messick's has the 26x12x12 set for $109.00. I'm sorry, but I don't know what regular chains cost. My first experience with traction device, Thanks for asking. If you Google "terragrips messicks" you can see their price schedule for different size tires.

  • @wornslick
    @wornslick Před 2 lety +1

    One more question Bob, did you hook on the 3rd or 4th chain from the end? Thanks

    • @botabob
      @botabob  Před 2 lety +1

      I did hook onto the last link before the rubber cross link. I think it depends on your tire and chain set. I actually had to buy a bigger set then what was called for in the instructions. Fortunately, my dealer (Messick's) allowed me to return the first set I purchased and replace them with one size bigger. No difference in cost at the time - let me know how things work out.

      Right on - They work great - I had a lot more traction with the Terra Grips - then without them - keep an eye out for my follow-up videos on the snow removal - thanks for commenting
