      got this one to prove they are a 60,000 mile motor! Come fix it for me! injectors are now junk in it at 60,000 miles. its had the hp oil pump , turbo, wiring harness, sensors, glow plugs ( once a year) in the 10 years I have owned it, plus a bunch of other stuff. top speed on a good day is 35 to 45 mph peddle to the floor, no smoke, no power, and pulling the dump trailer 25 to 30 mph. Gets about 4 mpg loaded or empty makes no difference,
      motor is junk man!!!!!!!!!!

High low open on one injector. After ruling out wiring, I was surprised as you were that it was a bad brand new rebuilt injector. Good job👍

    I bought a set of rebuilt stock injectors from Full Force several years ago. The truck ran pretty good after install but it had a new very annoying CACK-CACK-CACK noise. I drove it like that for a couple years. It's my daily driver and work truck so I can't just let it sit while I resolve the problem, and I don't live anywhere close to Full Force. I put a set of brand new alliant injectors in and the truck ran perfect and sounded as it should. I just ate the $1,300 or so I spent on the Full Force rebuilds.

    I'm learning a lot about the powerstroke . Of course I knew nothing at all before I started watching your vids . Thanks for taking time to explain everything. One question is that you mentioned the #8 cylinder had a different injector than the other three on that bank. Is there one different on the passenger side too ? I noticed it had a blue hood/cover thing where the others were yellow so are they color coded ? . Oh and the air filter , did you not put the new filter inside a filter box or something ? Thanks much for putting up with dumb questions !

    • @ProjectTimeGarage
      @ProjectTimeGarage  Před rokem +1

      No, the rear passenger the same as all the other 7. The difference you saw was just the solenoid. There are a few manufacturers of that solenoid, so when getting remanufactured injectors, it isn't uncommon to see a difference in colors.

      I did see some oil pressure in the rails, but not enough, which is why I suspected a faulty "new" injector. Should see about 700psi or so while cranking. I was seeing around 100 or so.

    The long cranking time could also come from a low pressure oil pump being worn out

    • @ProjectTimeGarage
      @ProjectTimeGarage  Před rokem

      Yes it sure could. In this case, we had a very nice running truck with 3000psi of high pressure oil prior to doing the injectors. Thankfully the replacement injector fixed it up. It's had about 2000 miles and it's holding strong (for now).

      @@ProjectTimeGarage what I was getting at is if tolerances are off on low pressure pump it will still build full pressure just takes longer to get there, onces it's there it will hold it. So the hpop will work as it should regardless once low pressure builds to proper pressure. Hpop has to have pressure from low pressure pump before it can begin to build

    • @ProjectTimeGarage
      @ProjectTimeGarage  Před 11 měsíci +1

      From my experiences, white smoke, misses, etc can remain for quite a while after an Injector replacement. But, it's very possible one of the injectors has an issue. Have a look a ForScan Lite and see what the injectors are doing. Also a cylinder contribution balance test may give you some direction.

      I'll almost bet it's the glow plug relay. Its VERY common. Wait till the truck is cold, take a screwdriver and short across the two big lugs on top of the glow plug relay (it's gonna spark, but hang in there). Keep them shorted for about 10 seconds or so, then run in and try to start the truck - I'd bet it fires right up. If it does, replace the relay with a Motorcraft part - the cheap ones from the parts store won't last a year.

    Watching this was just frustrating to me. Should have watched the spill spouts on the injectors. You knew the problem was the pass side injectors. Started after installing the drivers side injectors. Why did you put 8 injectors in. By over repairing the vehicle you opened up new problems. I have never seen a Ford 7.3 injector faulty right out of the box. Ford makes an upgrade air filter system that uses a filter similar in style to the 6.0l diesel.

    • @ProjectTimeGarage
      @ProjectTimeGarage  Před rokem +2

      Why did I put 8 injectors in it? We did so because the ones in it were most likely several hundered thousand miles old. So it got 8 new injectors.
      Drivers side got 4 injectors, truck started & ran - no issues on driver's side
      Passenger's side was done - no start. So we pulled the 4 ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. We didn't touch the driver's side.
      I hear ya on the injector exhaust ports. Had I been thinking, I would have seen the oil bypassing. As they say. Hindsight is always 20/20.
