Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor is a third-person action role-playing video game developed by Monolith Productions and published by Warner Bros. Games which takes place in the world of J.R.R. Tolkien's Legendarium. The game is available on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC. The game is set to fill the gap between The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. It is a story of revenge, slaughter, and mystery set entirely in Mordor, the Land of Shadows. At its center is Talion, an ordinary man who loses everything, including his mortal life. Possessed by an immensely powerful wraith, Talion becomes a revenant, rising from the grave to avenge the murder of his family. Meanwhile, the wraith inside him, Celebrimbor, struggles to remember his forgotten past, which will allow him to increase in power.
Middle Earth Shadow of Mordor The game is set in a fully open world, and features various role-playing game elements such as experience points and skills. As you progress in the game, Talion will grow stronger, but so will his enemies. Talion has various unique wraith abilities which give him an edge on the battlefield. By stepping into the wraith world Talion can slow down time, teleport over distances and see targets from afar. These wraith abilities can all be leveled up separately, and the player can also unlock more powerful abilities - Hry

Having Celebrimbor be a major character is cool. Not only is he the one who made most of the Rings of power but he is also the Grandson of Feanor, who made the Silmarils and led the high Elves into exile in middle earth, his character is a link between the 1st age, the 2nd age and the 3rd age.

I love how some people commenting didn't really completely pay attention to the cutscenes they just watched and call this game horrible due to its supposed lack of "following canon."
Uh, guys, this is the period between the White Council banishing Sauron from Dol Goldur back to Mordor and the actual Lord of the Rings books. It's where Gondor is in sharp decline, poor ol' Aragorn is still ten years old in Rivendell, and the fight for the Lonely Mountain is over. Gollum is still off searching for the ring, and since he's loopy off the ring, fitting Celebrimbor, Talion, and Gollum in there works. Each "Sauron" (The Black Hand, The Tower, The Hammer) is some part of his spirit, which thanks to the White Council banishing him, is broken and not really whole. Killing each one systematically and then finally confronting the Black Hand thus makes sense. The Black Hand absorbing Celebrimbor? Not too weird, but it's not like Celebrimbor suddenly BECOMES SAURON. Celebrimbor just helps the process. As for the end... No, Talion is not BASICALLY BECOMING SAURON. Remember guys, he's a half-wraith: Basically mortal, but the lingering spirit inhabiting his body keeps reviving him. He and Celebrimbor only co-exist because of spirtual parallels and similar motivations. The new ring is implying THEY'RE GONNA MAKE A COUNTER-RING TO THE ONE RING.
And the future? That's what Monolith is going to have to be delicate about. They could take it various ways, truth be told, but the way the company approaches it could make or break the rest of the series. Since, after all, Tolkien fans are pretty hardcore about canon.
This is game is pretty much allowed to exist; it's filling plot holes. The next game they're gonna make after this one? Pray they know what the hell they're doing.

Way out of date here but, these games are great and aged well. I love their stories. But by no means is it anywhere close to canon. It fails with an elf wraith. Which if you know is completely impossible due to the nature of elves created by iluvitar. But again, just because it’s non canon doesn’t mean it’s bad. These were great

Why would it be necessary for all of you guys work a TV series out from something you actually liked in a game?? Most of the movie adaptations based on games suck. Just enjoy the game and keep it to yourselves. There's no reason to make such TV show.

Yeah. I didn't like how the only creatures were ghuls, caragors, and graugs. They could've done so much more with a big open world.
It would've been better if they created a game about the fall of Arnor. For those who don't know that's basically when the Witch King launched a war against the people in Arnor from his base in Angmar. Pretty cool story and would be great for a game, film or tv series.
But there is! Battle for Middle Earth II: Shadow of the Witch King. Great expansion, great game.

I'm still waiting for a true LOTR RPG. Dragon Age style you know. This was awesome, but I miss the dynamic story thing, where the general idea is the same but the way to get there is different. And choosing what to say in conversations you know.

But you get the picture, a true RPG. Because some consider this game an RPG, or a sandbox like GTA. They're not. No I want a true RPG like DA or ME or whatever. Something like the Witcher would work wonders as well. But this game is too lineair for me. To me a true RPG has a good main story plus sandbox elements (with many side quests) and the story changes according to the choices you make.
Some dilemma's like in the Witcher 3 are great as well, instead of obvious good/bad choices.

I loved this game. I remember after I got my branded warchiefs and left Nurnen, the uruk captain/warchief that I fought (azdush the amputator in this video) got unceremoniously killed. I was grabbing him by the collar and was about to execute him when one of my warchiefs who had a crossbow, blew him away with an explosive/fire crossbow bolt to the side of the head while in the middle of talking. Last two boss battles were a little lackluster though the rest of the game made up for it.

The game is amazing , best lord of the rings game ever made. Although the war in the north is a very fun one still as well as Lotr conquest , this one tops it off.

i thought it had decent length to it, took me 31 hours to beat
Evan E I were ragequit of this game played 2 weeks... because need make captains, but captains calling 100 mobs +50 when you kill them all and come unbeatable warchefs o.o 50+ mobs ... worst of all... it took me 3 days to kill a warchef and became friendly one o.o and captains do bad stuff like suicide or accidendly killing allies xD

Fast forward to 1:21:00 and wait for the part where talion sheathes his sword. It looks so strange and it’s one visual that always confused me about this game. Does the sword go into its holster from the side? I always thought they had to slide in through the top.

My nemesis throughout the entire game, Literally, was one Uruk named Horza, I think I killed him a total of 5 times before the final one during the battle before you fight the Tower.
Gotta realise that Young Celembrimor is just gutting and slicing Uruk Captains left and right like it was nothing
This game is pretty easy as long as you have the poison immunity rune. No detection stealth missions are difficult, but that aside after you get the right abilities and lucky with some rune drops the combat becomes easy. Stealth Kills and Drain/Brand replenishing health and elf shot are essential.

Screw that. We need a game with Ungoliant as the main antagonist. She was very under-utilized in The Silmarillion, a lot of questions need to be answered, her fate is pretty open-ended in the book, and it would be pretty anticlimactic to have such a powerful villain like that literally rot away in complete isolation.

I am a Tolkien nerd. I know everything there is to know, and I have read everything Tolkien has written that is available. And you know what? I loved this game. It has inconsistencies, yes, but they are minor. I hope they make a sequel to this game, as it was fantastic, and hopefully the next game will have even more of the lore that we love. And, please, stop being assholes about it. Tolkien is, sadly, dead. He lived a full, happy life, and he provided us with, in my opinion, the greatest fictional stories of all-time. But now that he is dead, Middle-Earth still grows. I for one am glad of that, and I would like to think Tolkien would be, too. This world started off as just his, but now it belongs to all those who have traveled Middle-Earth. I would love them to continue making new things set in Middle-Earth, and I would love it even more if the Tolkiens wrote some more.

The game is pretty good but I feel that there was no need for a cliffhanger. But since there is one I just hope that the sequel(whenever that is)is better than the first and hopefully they add a loot system to the game(similar to DA:I).
