We as live audio engineers run into two related problems when trying to learn new skills:
    1. When we’re on a gig there’s not much extra time to try new things.
    2. At home we don’t have access to gear.
Today I’m pumped to share with a new feature in Open Sound Meter, the pay-what-you-want cross-platform open source audio analyzer software that enables you to practice using EQ without any additional gear!
It requires a little bit of setup, but I’m here right by your side step-by-step to get everything ready to go.
    We’ll cover:
    - Key OSM features to have set before getting started
    - Why flat is a good place to start
    - The intuitive EQ workflow I stole from Pat Brown
    01:21 - Measurement & OSM Setup
03:43 - Capturing Our Fostex Speaker
05:09 - Adding Filters and a Math Source
07:46 - Applying EQ Filters To Flatten Speaker Response
    14:09 - Recap

I'd like to add, that in LTW mode each frequency has its own time window. That's the difference with an MTW, where it's different by octaves.

I've been having some issue with opening saved OSM project files, where OSM just lags and crashed when attempting to open a project that have maybe like 10+ measurement data. What could be the issue?

May I ask what LTW stands for?

Question: Have you gone through the process for creating a GLL file for a speaker that doesnt have one?

Thank you Michael for such great content. Should I always EQ my speakers flat in a live environment or is this for a studio setup only?
God bless you and your family.

Live sound is different from a studio environment and might use different tuning. Studios are flat because it translates the best to everyone's unique listening environment. In live sound you know what the listening environment is. That's why we use the term "target trace" because everyone's target could be slightly different. For example many mixers prefer a response that slopes up into the subs. This gives the feeling of a live show people are looking for but the recording from your board will have an appropriate amount of sub for other listening environments.

I want to ask a very broad question? Is there any programs like this that can set a EQ for your system so you can use it at gigs? Reason i am asking is cause a dsp is for some like me a bit too expensive and the analogue crossovers really miss the mark.

Can I use Sweep instead Pink Noise in the transfer Function, like Rita Analyzer ?
