A good example of a basketball court in a football stadium is the Syracuse Orange college basketball court. It uses the large capacity of the stadium to sell up to 33,000 tickets. This also makes them cheap and gives students better seating for less money. The cheapest ticket is $11.00 and the average is $85.00.

College basketball has been played on an aircraft carrier.
College football has been played in the infield of Bristol Motor Speedway -- a proper stadium, as it's a short track oval with 156K seats.
(Yes, hockey has been played in a football stadium.)

NBA play around 40 home games in their arenas every year, slightly more for the playoffs. They have to use these arenas the other 300+ days of the year. Otherwise the arena loses money. So just about every arena is built to be multi-purpose.
One of oldest arenas in the USA is in Fort Worth at the Stockyards called the Cowtown Coliseum where the very first indoor rodeo was held. It was built in 1908 and has been hosting rodeos ever since. Just about every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday you can attend a rodeo until late November this year. The season has already started.

The Tacoma Dome was built for small college athletics and high school championships. They could just barely fit a football field inside and 10,000 seats. For basketball, hockey and concerts they would add temporary seats below the football seating to match the event. The Sonics played there after spending time in the larger 65,000 seat Kingdome in Seattle.
They played in the Tacoma Dome while the Seattle Center Arena was being refurbished. Oddly enough, a totally new arena was built under the original roof of the Seattle Center Arena (It was the US pavillion during the 1963 World's Fair) for the the NHL Seattle Kracken a few years ago.
Watch the NCAA Final Four. They will play in the center of NRG Stadium, home of the Houston Texans of the NFL. There will be 3 games with crowds of more than 85,000 fans. The game would be no more than a rumor to most if there weren't massive video screens.

COBO arena is a great place to see a concert. Speaking from experience. AC/DC

The Seattle Sonics only played in the Tacoma Dome 2 seasons while they renovated the Seattle Center Coliseum until it reopened as the Key Arena.

When you watch the final four, it's always in an NFL stadium now, it's weird how they bring in temporary seating but nothing is closed off any more. The temporary seating makes for horrible sight lines in the lower deck and you can't see anything from upper decks but they still sell out like 80k seats. I think it's in the Houston Texan's dome this year

Out of the 82 games a season only 41 are played on the teams home court. The other half are played on the road. When you buy season tickets you're paying for half the seasons games and maybe a discount on any playoff games.

Cobo Arena, in Detroit, was a bad basketball arena. But it was a fantastic concert venue. I saw so dozens of concerts there from the 70's on.

Not sure how the original Garden is "weird." That's one of the most famous arenas in American history.

Its not that they cant sell 60k tickets, its that the game is too small to be played in a NFL stadium and the view would be terrible
same goes for hockey the view is terrible at some of the winter classic venues (when they play outdoors in NFL or MLB stadiums)

That Celtics look is called a parquet floor and is an iconic part of their branding.

Not sure why he didn’t mention the uniqueness of the Celtics’ parquet floor. He also didn’t mention that the Boston Garden was rebuilt on the same site and is now called the TD Garden (after TD Bank). They kept one piece of the original parquet. The old Garden has lots of lore, including the strange bounces opposing players would get on the parquet floor, which Boston fans attributed to leprechauns. The Celtics and Bruins (hockey) still play in the same arena.

When he said the Raptors’ new arena was built just for them, he made a mistake. The Maple Leafs moved in to the new building from their old one as well and they now share the newer facility. It’s undergone many renovations so it doesn’t hold as many people now, but the Maple Leaf Gardens is still standing on Carlton Street, so you can go see it to this day.

Kinda off subject. I remember going to the Pyramid Arena with mom, brother, sister, and friends back in November of 1999 Backstreet Boys Into The Millennium Tour. It was an awesome experience.

I'm born and raised in Memphis. I still hate what they did to the Pyramid, I'd rather it be a Casino.

I wish they made it a waterpark. It was one of the proposed projects before they decided.

Another state fair arena was mentioned, so the writer may have decided to leave it out. It's also nowhere near as odd as most of the included arenas.
