Piano Solo: Press Your Luck (Theme)

- A piano solo rendition I did of the main theme from the television game show "Press Your Luck," currently on ABC hosted by Elizabeth Banks, but most famously in the 80s on CBS, hosted by the late Peter Tomarken. I dedicate this arrangement to him since it's been 25 years since he and his wife tragically died in a plane crash; the Tomarkens were volunteers with Angel Flight West, a nonprofit organization that provides free air transportation to needy medical patients. They were en route to San Diego to pick up a cancer patient who needed transportation to UCLA Medical Center for treatment when their airplane crashed. The charity and the Tomarken children have since established a "Tomarken Heroes" fund in memory of the couple.
Reruns of the classic version can be seen on BUZZR, and were previously rerun on GSN.

Original music composed by Lee Ringuette, and updated by Tim Mosher & Stoker for the ABC revival.

There was a Australian version of Press Your Luck hosted by Ian Turpie
There was indeed. I think most associate him with "The Price is Right," though; when he died in 2012, Larry Emdur opened the first 2012 TPIR episode with a special tribute to Ian.
That revival didn't go so well, though; eliminating Contestant's Row was one problem, as well as the lower budget that the previous versions had.

When PRESS YOUR LUCK Premiered in September 1983, CBS Daytime Game Shows Had a Limit of $25,000, Meaning that Anyone Who Won $25,000 or More, would Retire
That Changed in November 1984
Since Then, Champions on PRESS YOUR LUCK would Retire After Winning Five Games, Or Until He or She has Won or Exceeded CBS's New Daytime Game Show Winnings Limit, of $50,000
Exactly the reason Peter Tomarken said the network had said thank you to Michael Larson for retiring after winning $110,237. Of course, he lost everything in the end. What a sad story Larson's was.

1985 Thru 1986.
And when Rod Roddy was feeling ill or on vacation, Charlie O'Donnell and John Harlan filled in!
They did. I think I've only ever seen it with Rod, though. By the way, I finally got around to doing other game show arrangements after being sidetrack by other things (such as the fact I wanted to do the whole soundtrack to the original "F-Zero" for the SNES, and I finished all the songs there). Who knows what I'll do next?
