- This is a short movie made as part of a research project into empathy and virtual reality. It was made for use with a VR headset. If anyone wants a copy of the full video for use with a headset send me a message and I can share it with you.
can you guys believe some people are just seeing shit for free? they wake up and can just see - whereas we gotta buy dummy thicc glasses for ridiculous prices. i'm legally blind in both eyes. stay strong my brothers & sisters ♡
I rather take bad vision over any type of impairment to be honest.
Stay strong and push on, take care and best of luck
I’m 20/400 and I’m 15. It’s only been getting worse . I can see things close to me though, but without my contacts or glasses I wouldn’t get far .
Same with me, my 23 year old brother is near legally blind so I'm worried how mines gonna be as my eyes continue to develope
I'm 36 and at yalls age mine was the same it only went to like 20/550 but is still OK with contacts/glasses. But I wore my contacts for months at a time and it messed my eyes up more. I only did it because I was desperate to see and felt to helpless without them. But the more I learn my areas the less I feel I need them. ONLY in those situations though. But still need them just don't worry about when you're at home let your eyes breath.
Im 20/400 at 14 and i recommend you to research online about this site called endmyopia. Its not really a program or anything but it teaches you a lot about myopia and inner working of the eye. You can stop the progression of myopia pretty easily by getting a 2nd pair of glasses which is undercorrected for close up. You can even undo myopia which sounds crazy but yes, myopia is caused pretty much similarly to how its undone.
Looking too much close up with glasses which are intended for vision basically gives you myopia. And the people that sell you glasses dont care. They love that they can profit off of you. Anyways it is interesting stuff and it may seem like a commitment, but it kinda isnt. All you really need to do to reverse myopia is build certain habits which you can research on endmyopia site. For example using 2 pairs of glasses, one for close up and one for distance, not wearing full prescription glasses, etc.
I am 14 and 20/600 T-T
@@mastertrey4683 THANKYOUSOMU HOMG
my vision is 20/450, and what I see is about similar to whats in these pictures
this is what i see without glasses on
this is accurate, but not completely. as a 20/500, i see some colors very clearly it's just extremely blurry. that's where it's inaccurate but for the most part this is what i see.
My vision is 20/400 in one eye and 20/20 in the other
Bailey Rutherford so you’re half blind??
20/20 in both eyes here.
Rohan Zener lucky you
My vision is worse than this. It began at age 3, but got worse every year. A few years ago I failed to even read the first letter of an eye chart even with glasses and was declared legally blind, then put on disability for that and other conditions.
Just wondering how you were able to writte comments then
@@jvrm728 iphone and samsung have things like siri or bixby that are AI's that have a setting for those who visually impaired it will read whats on your screen etc its great!!
@@jvrm728 Legally blind doesnt mean you cant see shit it means your vision is so bad that without glasses youre basically blind.
I was born legally blind, but my field of vision is not blurred, so I am rather confused....
Bram A. Poe same!!!
Legal blindness typically isnt caused by myopia i have myopia 20/400 but i am not legally blind as my sight can be corrected by -5 diopter glasses. Even super severe myopia in the double digit diopters can be corrected. Certain ailments cannot be corrected with glasses.
I am damn near close to legally blind
I am legally blind 20/350 no matter what I do I am turned to the board. I also have Tunnel vision from traumatic brain injury. "This is my life. Give, up, give over, or give it all I have. That is what I can do.
I have CF or "counts fingers" acuity in one eye and in the other I have 20/125. This video makes it seem like everyone with low vision sees the same. And nothing an be farther from the truth. I am a teacher of the visually impaired and have had students with varying degrees of vision, diagnoses, etc. My own vision is not blurry. Print for example. I cannot see small print. It's not blurry. It just can't be read. My world is not blurry when I look around. Things that are up close are clear while objects that are "far" away just aren't visible. I agree that some have blurry vision. But it totally depends on the person and the eye condition.
Agree, don't claim it is, it is based on interviews with people but know everyone is different, last bit is about a specific condition retinitis pigmentosa. Thanks for the feedback.
I have -5 on my prescription and my axis is 8 175
My vision is 20/400 and I’m absolutely terrified to go walking around outside without my glasses because my balance gets all messed up. I tend to trip on stairs
I'm there with you and I'll just say I fake it until I make it
My vision is 20/600 and I can’t see peoples’ faces when I don’t have my glasses on.
15 years old and I'm already at 20/325. Now that I'm 18 and my vision got worse. I'm now at 20/450.
my vision is 20/200
I'm guessing that's bad, because 20/20 is perfect vision (correct me if I'm wrong😂)
@daniel seanex what is your glasses power plz reply
And also from which feet can I recognise the face of people
Man lucky, I gots 20/400
I have 20/170 (-1) for the two of my eyes. I didn't expect it to be this bad , cuz It started getting worse in the latest months . I'm only 14 and I'm so sad about this rn. I didn't think I was this bad until now.
I have glaucoma and it can be a challenge to get around and read.
I know how you feel. I don't have that, but my vision is actually worse than anything in this video. I can only see 2 inches away with one eye, and 3 inches with the other. If no one is moving I have no idea they are there. If they are moving I can't tell who they are, even if they're my parents.
Hi, did you publish somewhere? Can you give me a link to your research.
In my good eye my vision is 20/400 my bad eye light perception
Bless ur heart man
I have 20/5 and I am 13. I have the super human vision range.
My vision is 20/1000 and I’m 19

I am legally blind
I’ve been told I am legally blind by my eye doc but I can see things pretty clearly it’s just small words are blurry
20/100 left eye & 20/50 right eye
@Grizzly b0y qhat is your glasses power.
I would absolutely love a copy of this to show to students on a Quest 2 if possible!
Hi Rhi, not sure I still have a copy of the 360 version, it's also pretty old there's better cameras available now to make a better version. Will see if it's on an old hardrive or if I have it somewhere though!
@@griffinrob thank you!
me when i’m high
Astigmatism runs in my family and I got it. I also got Myopia ☹️
It rlly sucks. I wish I could just see normally but my parents cant do anything but get me glasses.
I just went to an appointment yesterday and my mom and my glasses cost $709 all together. Thats way too much.
I got 20/20 in one eye but the other is 20/80💀
Hello,
Can you send me both (or any) VR and normal versions of the video please? I am doing kind of an awareness campagin for a uni club and woukd be so helpful to use. I haven't find any other free resources unfourtunately...
This is OK, but unfortunately it’s still presents a sort of “one size fits all“ viewpoint to visual impairments. It is much more of a broad spectrum then is being portrayed here. You can be legally blind but not have blurry vision, just need to see things much more closely, and there are many other different types of vision impairments that affect the ways people see. It’s not always just blurry or just tunnel vision etc. imagine going to a concert and sitting in the front row, and then moving back about 30 rows. You can still see without things being blurry, but it looks much smaller and farther away.
Hi totally agree, everyone is different, this video was made after interviewing a few people and trying to get a typical idea of what it is like. Maybe a future version could allow one to set the parameters to individuals.
I have 20/100 vision! It is predicted to get worse with time even though I am still a teenager. I know it weird to say but I’m happy with it. I wouldn’t chose to have poor vision but it’s a part of me. And I better be because I am only getting worse! 👌🏻😂🤗🤪
Golden girl Gacha I understand exactly what do you mean.I am registered blind and have exactly the same outlook. It makes you who you are, makes you work harder, and every success is your own. Stay strong.
simon boon 💛💛💛
@@simontboon I'm having visual difficulties due to high myopia. I'm scared to loss my vision, I don't want to have to depend on people, even though my family means well. I hope what I'm saying isn't offensive.
I have -1.25 in my right eye and +1.00 in my left eye
my vision is 20/30 in one eye and 20/20 in the other
I have 20/100 vision.
Well i have 20 / 40 vison and my doctor said it well recover in 5 or 6 years :(((
My vision is 20/600 and 20/550..
Now im scared.
Am I blind😂
Yes, blindness begins at 20/200. 🙂
Only blind without glasses. A lot of people have 20/200 vision if you’re forced to wear glasses as a kid and your optometrist overprescribes you you will probably end up with 20/200000000 or something like that. If you have correctable myopia it aint legally blind.
My vision is 20/100
Mariguana same
Same! Welcome to the club! 🤪😂😊
Same
Lol I wonder what this would look like with perfect vision. I have a condition call Aniridia so I have about 20/600 in one eye and 20/400the other. I was born with cataracts so they did surgery when I was almost 2 and they did one lens for close vision and the other one for distance but due to all of the other underdevelopment /degeneration of other structures my distance vision isn’t very good anyway so I was supposed to be able to switch my gaze but I began favoring the neared vision eye ever since then and it never really resolved even with patching and surgery to try and tie up the muscle that controls the eye. I also had some kind of retinal surgery for scar tissue that formed on the macula, I’m not sure if it was the both eyes or just one. Phew ok😂. I also have glaucoma, nystagmus, corneal inflammation that everything simple as sunlight to dust/pollen/air quality makes flare up, you get the point. It’s unfortunately really hard to control most of these conditions, especially the glaucoma that’s worse in the eye I favor. I think I’ve already lost some peripheral vision that I’ll never be able to get back in that eye and the other one has some pretty bad corneal scarring. So ughh it really is a lot of present struggle with how it has progressed since we’ll, I’m born, and I’m 18 no so, there’s also anticipatory grief/worry of what that will look like (see what I did there hehe) . I mean I try not to think about it but even recently when I went for my annual eye exam the top line of the eye chart with the biggest letter was much harder to make out than I felt like I always was… like I said the glaucoma and cornea issues are really doing a number… and the phychiatric meds I need to use make the glaucoma flare up, and the eye drops I need to use for the glaucoma make my eyes very irritated and inflamed and yea… it’s a wholeee big thing I did NOT sign up for ahaha. I could only imagine what I am seeing is twice as poor as what… I don’t even know how to say it ahh! I’ve always tried to describe what the effects of each condition and how the all contribute to my visual perception. So for example for nystagmus, imagine stubtle but dizzying shaking or blur or when you wave your hand really fast in front of you and follow it and then stop suddenly, the lazy eye causes poor depth perception that can make it hard to perceive stairs/curbs/dodge obstacles/
Bad hand-eye coordination, you’re looking through a scratched and smudged lens and you feel like you’ve always got something in your eye and someone is shining a super bright light directly in your eyeas, all of the time no matter what. That’s the best I can think of hehe. Plz feel free to ask questions
My vision is to 20/30 but most of the time i don't need glasses
You're fortunate. Without my glasses I can't even recognize which parent is my dad or mom, and if they aren't moving I don't know if they're in the room. I've walked into doors and walls too. Even with glasses on, it only extends my vision from 3 inches to 8 feet, then the "frosted glass" thing appears from there onward.
I have 20/100 vision which is predicted to get worse! 😊😊😊
@@yellowdandelion4820 the reason it will get worse is because of how you use the glasses. At 20/100 you’re able to use computers phones and any close up stuff without the aid of glasses. The only time glasses should be used is if you’re looking at things in the distance or wt things that are not close to you. And the glasses should not be full prescription either. Dont listen to optometrist they are scammers. As you age your vision gets worse but it shouldnt happen rapidly or anything like that if it does its caused by the glasses.
oh it's Irish video!
Do anyone know what or knows what this is "I can see clearly, but can't see far like in the back of a classroom"?
Datonekiidtey yep
Yes, that’s always been my situation.
This isn’t accurate without contacts I still see a train station better than that and I’m 20/500
I'm 20/800 without glasses I'm 16 it's better with glasses but not perfect
Uhhh, so why is the writing so small? Not everyone can see that with bcva. I’m aware of the letters but that’s it. Ridiculous
i’m 20/70 lmao
Mine is 20/70
Not bad, mine's far worse than in this video.
Mine is 20/100!

If Your Blind You See Black
*you’re
there's a difference between blind and legally blind though.
SuperMarioReid I don’t know if your joking but that’s completely not true
Not true. I am legally blind with low vision. Left homonymous hemianopaia from brain trauma. No left visual field in either eye. They're is nothing on my left, just like if you would try to see out of your elbow....its just not there. My right peripheral which is all I have is double and 20/200 with glasses which is legal blindness. Blind just means you can't see so good and some of us are brain trauma, nothing to do with the eyes.
First of all it’s “you’re”, but also blindness is a spectrum. It’s not all or nothing. Only about 10% of people classified as blind see absolutely nothing. And no, it’s not black, it’s just nothing. It’s like seeing out of your elbow. The rest of us have varying degrees of usable vision depending on our personal circumstance but we are still classified as legally blind.
Well-intentioned, but obviously nonsense because a normally-sighted person cannot know what a VI person sees, and vice versa.
