    It's a good thing you ran 4 CAT6 cables into your office (not including the port behind that small TV). You can use all 4 ports for link aggregation if 2 isn't enough bandwidth for your devices.

    Nice build, 2 Pro tips for you though. 1: For the rack top you could just sand it and stain with some shade of grey ( ash grey for example) then just seal it with whatever you want. Should cost about 30$ and a couple of hours of time assuming you need to rent an orbital sander. 2: If for whatever reason you don't have enough parts from IKEA here is what you do, In the manual there will be a part number ( if you don't have that then just take the part with you ) Go to the largest IKEA in your area, Go to the Customer service/Returns area and tell them what you need and how many, They will just give it you lol. They generally keep a large stock of common fasteners, brackets etc. Just bring your receipt if possible ( I never needed to show it but you never know ).

      Good point with IKEA - I've done that previously when I had some drawer fronts that didn't match the others properly, they just gave me knew ones. For the rack I don't think I'd be able to do that as it's just laminated chipboard, not solid wood. Probably a case of either trying to wrap it or just buying a new top.

    haha nice mistake :) good that you took the time to write in a disclaimer :) i think the reason it only comes with the hinges is that the only shelf that are suppose to be more in the front i the one that sits where the 2 doors(if you have 2) meet , so it devides it in 2 compartments, and if you only have a shelf in the kompartment in the middle of the door, you don´t want a "hard" devider in it, hope you understand what i mean :)

    Btw if you have an ir-controlled device, I highly recommend getting a n ir extender, and then running it to just where the TV is, making it feel more "magic" and/or getting a Logitech harmony or similar device. I don't actually recommend them because I've had one of their boxes fail on me, I personally use a sofabaton, but that would still require an it extender

    • @camerongray1515
      @camerongray1515  Před 3 lety

      To be honest, it's mostly just a mess without really any cable management in both the AV cabinet and the rack. The rack in particular is a pain to access from the rear so cables are just draped in and connected without any attempt to manage them. I'd previously managed the rack a lot neater but it meant that it was a nightmare to replace cables from the front without being able to get in the back to remove cable ties. The AV cabinet is much the same - cables are just connected and stuffed behind the cabinet and receiver just so that none of them are immediately visible from the room.

      They're called Euro Modules which is a standard in Europe (and some other countries) where you get separate modules and then faceplates they fit into and they are generally interoperable between brands. It's a similar idea to keystone jacks as commonly used in the US. Not sure how widely available they are worldwide though.

    Hey Cameron,
    It seems like that cabinet is made by a Polish manufacturer, and that they actually offer multiple replacement toppers on their online shop: sklep-zpas.pl/biurowe-szafy-19-sjb/biurowa-szafa-teleinformatyczna-sjb-10u-600x600-z-blatem-zpas.html

    • @camerongray1515
      @camerongray1515  Před 3 lety +4

      I don't have anything against soundbars, they're a huge upgrade to the speakers built into TVs but they're nowhere close to the performance of a full 5.1 system like I have here. They're probably comparable when it comes to basic dialogue but for surround sound in movies or music, a system with separate bookshelf speakers will sound a lot better.
