Agree that it was likely a ricochet. That infantryman still would have died or been seriously wounded without the helmet. That's why people wear helmets. He's just lucky he had a modern kevlar helmet and not the WW2 vintage that the other guy was wearing, or a counterfeit knockoff.
Everyone and their cousin is saying it's a ricochete. If you go frame by frame, that popular theory falls apart. The headstrap has already snapped off in the exact same frame as the puff of smoke. This means the headstrap was most likely hit first, then the projectile hit the wall (or a piece of the strap/helmet is actually what we're seeing hit the wall). And further evidence of that is the direction of the puff of dust on the wall. If it was a ricochete off the wall into the helmet, the dust would have traveled with the ricochete. It's basic physics. I don't know if it hit the helmet or the wall first, but it certainly wasn't a direct hit from sniper rifle into the helmet. That I am willing to bet my pants on.
we can never know for sure. but by looking at the video about around 0:07 seconds if you watch the wall there is debris that come from it which could indicate that it hit the wall before the direct hit on his helmet gopro/headlight thing. but if you also look at the wall its two bricks deep which by most caliber standards cannot easily penetrate through it. the "most" used russian snipers are the SVD or 6S8/6s8-1 (from public records but it could be different) which shoot 7.62×54mmR or higher but realistically only .50 cal can reliably penetrate ceramic material. but again bullets do crazy and unpredictable things when they hit stuff so who really knows what happened. there is a great video on CZcams you can look up where is shows that two bricks are just as effective as body armor
Ricochet my guy. No standard helmet can survive a direct impact from a sniper rifle. Most Russian helmets in the war are thin pressed steel, probably the lowest quality honestly.

No. A helmet defends from shrapnel and impacts. Bullets go through helmets, they typically only stop pistol rounds. You dont know anything about warfare🤣
True a helmet especially won't stop high power rounds commonly used by snipers. Also yes you can see the bullet hit the wall first and when his co examines him you can see his helmet is not penetrated rather it looks like chunk of concrete hit it on the rim and broke apart.
holy.....i saw the ukrainian side of this in civdiv's videos where his foriegn legion compatriots went to help the ukrainian front line and i automatically recognize the building outside the gate and just how close the video civ div posted which in this video is to the right about 2-4 buildings and about 2 house rows back in a dance studio. that white mortar building is very discernable of what i could spot in civdivs video at that time. this was literally building to building fighting at 25/40 meters to 100/250 meters basically the straight away of any track and field stadium.
Couldn't help imagining the scene in Saving Private Ryan where a soldier gets hit in the helmet and takes it off to check only to get shot dead in the head 😯
It wasn't a ricochet, the bullet grazed the wall, the sniper was aiming well. It looks as if the bullet literally glided over the wall with almost no change in trajectory. It just kicked up dust.
You see that giant blue thing on the right? That's a big ass door. The only angle a shooter could see him through at that hard angle with the giant steel door in the way is from the roof, and that would have passed the wall at a much higher angle of trajectory + the shooter could just push to the right and have the entire squad in a death trap. Judging by the fact that this wasn't helmet footage of dead Russians posted by Ukrainians, there was no death trap.

Unless it’s skimmed into the the helmet at a weird angle it would stop it, but a flat direct hit yea no. Bullet had to went in and out at a weird angle, I don’t see any place were a ricochet would be plausible
They can. I remember seeing a documentary where someone got hit by a bullet and the helmet protected them. It was a sniper shooting at them, so I doubt it was a ricochet. I don't know if it hit the helmet or the wall first, but it certainly wasn't a direct hit from sniper rifle into the helmet. That I am willing to bet my pants on.
Bullet hit left-front rim of helmet, you can clearly see metal torn at 0:18-0:19 0:22 and that man touches it.
gimme your pants
we can never know for sure. but by looking at the video about around 0:07 seconds if you watch the wall there is debris that come from it which could indicate that it hit the wall before the direct hit on his helmet gopro/headlight thing. but if you also look at the wall its two bricks deep which by most caliber standards cannot easily penetrate through it. the "most" used russian snipers are the SVD or 6S8/6s8-1 (from public records but it could be different) which shoot 7.62×54mmR or higher but realistically only .50 cal can reliably penetrate ceramic material. but again bullets do crazy and unpredictable things when they hit stuff so who really knows what happened. there is a great video on CZcams you can look up where is shows that two bricks are just as effective as body armor

I think it hit whatever headgear he's wearing first. You can see something spun off after the shot.
The quality of the helmet wow...
Ricochet my guy. No standard helmet can survive a direct impact from a sniper rifle. Most Russian helmets in the war are thin pressed steel, probably the lowest quality honestly.

A story he can tell his grand kids about .
I don't know if he will ever want to talk about it.
My grandfather, a WW2 veteran never wanted to talk about war and he was howling every night during sleeping all his life. When I asked him about it, he told me, that he had a recurring nightmare, where he was being attacked by a dragon...

No. A helmet defends from shrapnel and impacts. Bullets go through helmets, they typically only stop pistol rounds. You dont know anything about warfare🤣

its a ric or shrapnel from it hitting the wall first. if it was a rifle round it would have gone straight through
It got "straight through" helmets rim on left side. It doesn't matter was it bullet or shrapnel.
@Alex Petrov well it does, a ballistic helmet will stop most shrapnel it wont stop a bullet
True a helmet especially won't stop high power rounds commonly used by snipers. Also yes you can see the bullet hit the wall first and when his co examines him you can see his helmet is not penetrated rather it looks like chunk of concrete hit it on the rim and broke apart.
what happened: bro got mythical helmet, friend support, base support and stronk super unique perk and total he got 20 damage dealt
holy.....i saw the ukrainian side of this in civdiv's videos where his foriegn legion compatriots went to help the ukrainian front line and i automatically recognize the building outside the gate and just how close the video civ div posted which in this video is to the right about 2-4 buildings and about 2 house rows back in a dance studio.
that white mortar building is very discernable of what i could spot in civdivs video at that time.
this was literally building to building fighting at 25/40 meters to 100/250 meters basically the straight away of any track and field stadium.
Couldn't help imagining the scene in Saving Private Ryan where a soldier gets hit in the helmet and takes it off to check only to get shot dead in the head 😯
OMG ME TOO!!

The bullet hit the wall and something then hit his helmet either debris or the remains of the bullet.
A direct hit would have killed him.
Yes. The reporting is not so truthful at best.
exactly, a direct hit would pass both sides of the helmet with the watermelon inside split in half.

@@christianlidborg1747 lol dude u both overestimate bullets, and underestimate helments, its direct hit, u can clearly see it if u r not blind if u go frame by frame
I heard that direct hit from rifle breaks neck even if bullet stopped, unless its a big helm with soft lining
Bro soul just left him for a moment.
is the bullet okay?? how does it feel?? did it get hurt??
No modern helmet can survive a direct hit, however it does protect from ricochets!
Wrong , we had a member hit in the Helmet , it knock him out . We had no idea what happen to him . Thought he passed out . Days later after returning to duty and looking at his gear there was a bullet hole in the cam cover of his helmet discovered. It has not penetrated the Canadian helmet . Remember a bullets foot pounds of force is base on distance from target . A 556 at 100 meters might hit at 1000 foot pounds , at 500 m it might be 100 ish .
Technically they aren't bulletproof. But if you get the right set of circumstances you can get lucky.
Let's say they provide a small amount of protection.
of course you know more about war than any other person in the world hahaha
