On the one hand, diesels are bashed and castigated.....on the other hand, there's simply no other way to move earth this efficiently! The symphony from this orchestra of CAT diesels.....is priceless
You sit patiently waiting for months for an SCEM video to come along and when it does it absolutely blows your mind. A vision of beauty in all the CATs and a symphony of sound in all those exhausts. Add that to some excellent photography and what more could an enthusiast of the "Big Metal" want, - just more videos like this one.
Holy smoke! This is EXCELLENT! I really like the drone footage. These operators are pros. That is a great looking job. I operated all kinds of heavy equipment in '60s, through mid-1970. Cushion hitch, air-ride seats surely helped these 657 scrapers. Nonetheless, still a young operator's job. Wonderful video series!
I have never seen so many scrapers on one job in my life! What a fantastic site. I’d love to be operating one of them with this crew. This is a great vid, I enjoyed it. Thank you.
Wow! I've never seen a video this interesting and so much fun to watch. My hat is off to you. Thank you for making these great videos. I wish you all the best! Thanks again.
It is the details that separate a good H. E. operator from a pretender. These operators are pros. That cut, the fill are being done by artists! That soil looks just right for tandem push, pull methods.
Good evening !! Thank you for the video! Please keep them coming, it's so good to see such a large fleet of scrapers working. The drone footage is excellent!! Take care 👍😎🇬🇧.
Any one notice that when they get to the fill to spread their load they split tracks to help with compaction, not like a bunch of sheep. A loaded scraper compacts the fill material, a saves the rollers save a lot of time to pass the nuclear hydrometers test. Not like a bunch of sheep following in the same tracks. Which can cause uneeded problems I certain conditions, as an example, pumping the soil that is almost impossible to get compaction without digging it out, and hauling out the unsuitable and bringing in usable soil. It takes longer and equipment that could be used elsewhere. LOVE CAT YELLOW, AND THAT UNBEATABLE SOUND OF PURE POWER
At $650k to $750k each, the CAT scrapers in this video represent a huge equipment investment. Adding into that the cost to operate, (the daily fuel bill must be staggering,) there must me an awful lot of site development work in SoCal in order to squeeze out a profit out of so much investment. Impressive video.
What an awesome video!! Fun watching these amazing operators and their 657 pan really move the earth!! Some of my favorite scenes is "riding on the back of the scraper", observing the action. Great video showing how those push-pull pans work in tandem to get each pan loaded. Seems like quite a haul from cut to fill, justifying using so many pans to get the yardage moved. Thanks again, you are the best for big-time California scraper action videos!!
I have never in my life seen a procession of scrapers like this. I suspect it may have been something close to this when I was too young to remember-- the interstate 280 in Northern California being cut near our soon to be Redwood City onramp/offramp. My dad used to go up and watch after work. I went with him, but only have a vague memory, as I would have been about 5-6 years old.
Wow! 3 out of every 5 scrapers Cat builds must be earmarked for this company!! I've never seen a line-up of so many in one place. Awesome!!! Would drop dead at the fuel bill though...
Amazing operation with beautiful, new, Cat scrapers. The drone footage is excellent - what brand and model drone was used? I have a DJI Mavic Pro which could likely produce this quality of video. Just curious.
Does anybody know if this job is still going or if it’s done ?? If so, are they doing another job ?? Just wondering what they did with all those pans, if they finished it. That’s an incredible amount of money to be sitting and not working. I’ve never seen so many pans working on one job. What a sight to see !!
It’s crazy to think that there are a select few people who would gladly stand there all day in any weather and watch these gigantic dirt eating mechanical ants all day

Jody go and watch some of old jpaydirts videos to see how the hitch system and loading works. Wemen usually make the best operators for these machines as they treat them well
That is true. Generally, the least experienced operators run scrapers. Older guys move out to hoe, dozer, blade, etc. Or maybe to a lay-down machine or mill plainer. These guys in this video are professional and really skilled
K models have the steering and seat angled. G models can have the seat adjusted so it’s angled, but steering wheel and column are straight. E models are straight both ways.
Did anybody actually count the number of machines??? Where the hell do you keep that many machines when you got no work for them, even more important how did anybody raise enough wedge to buy them all, some look quite new.
This is SO BADASS!!!! For a lover of 657’s, pure paradise!!!! Outstanding footage and great job as usual. Thanks for posting.

Good job SoCal Kenny!!! Another sweet video. Need to get together when “Hollywood” Shane comes back down from Alberta.
Cool sandbox. All the So Cal super 10s are in Nor Cal on the Camp fire clean up but we are wrapping that job up

Superb video. Great footage & looks like a great operation. The diesel bill at the end if the week for all those machines must be ridiculous.
JUST THINK HOW MUCH MONEY HE IS MAKING ON THE JOB I DO THIS KIND OF WORK FUEL IS PENNY'S ON THE DOLLAR HE PUT THE FUEL IN WITH THE BIDD

Omg...just think of the fuel useage in one day. Awesome machines
they say " you can't move a mountain over night " but this sure makes it move pretty fast ! Alot of push'n and pull'n gets 'r done

You'd have to have a few 16s keeping up with them on the fill area and a lot of water carts as well
looks like new toys

Scraper porn.
Always a good day seeing a SCEM video waiting for me to watch.
What a great video showing how these beasts work . I wonder how much fuel they use in a day?
Robert Whitehead our scrapers used over 1000 litres per 12 hour shift in hard rock

Great video. About all you need is a camera with one of the operators in the cab. Love the drone footage right over the machines.
Socal already did, search for "657B 's -Catch me if you can" from 2014.
Fun video.

Would love to see that fuel bill, what kind of "mileage" (GPH) do they get
About 38 gph give or take 5 gallons depending on conditions.
I miss operating heavy equipment

Its amazing the time material n money involved in desposing of everyones trash
Argh that's what they're doing
I counted 19 before the camera changed angles, and they were still coming. They must have spent 100 million or more to buy all of them
Jesus effen Christ, that’s an army of scrapers!
They could setup a grand stand and charge people to watch. I'd pay
That would be Sweet.

They buy so many machines Cat should throw in a free one next time they buy, lol.

Grasp the gravity of the situation
I wonder what the largest number of scrapers being used on one job at the same time is?
This company has over 50 657 scrapers.
Probably this one in recent times czcams.com/video/dYbrYGyf0CI/video.html
Around 100 on this job i am lead to believe

Going to need way more landfill space now that "recycling" is basically done in the good old US of A!
City morons just started recycling here, after a nearby city said it was a waste of money. Somebody got paid off.
Where is this site located in So. California?
I think it might be the lost hills landfill in agoura hills by Malibu
I think it is the lost hills landfill in agoura hills ca I'm probably wrong though lol
