  • Being radioactive nerds, we enjoy finding radioactive objects like uranium glass, vaseline glass, Fiesta Ware and things like that. Mike also enjoys finding uranium ore. This is how he does it!

My dad and moms cousin were prospecting near Moab in 1952...struck the claim to what became the Rio Algum Lisbon Valley mine...my dad gave it to his partner...said it would never amount to anything😂

Hi. Not sure if you could answer my question. I have been making pebble jewelry, but I live in an area that's not far from where they used to mine uranium. They say even for fishing in the area that adults should not consume more than one fish per year, and children not at all, because of the contaminaton. I want to ensure any pebbles or stones and crystals I use to make jewelry aren't contaminated or unsafe for people to wear. Could you or would you know what to recommend for me to learn about how to do this?

A radiacode 102 is useful for gamma ray spectroscopy, such as scans of food and materials to detect which kinds of radioactive material they contain. But unless the lake is being investigated or shut down by the local government, its probably fine.

Gday I have 200 kgs of Uranium ore. The average piece say for example 500grams. Contains 30% Uranium. I’ve Evan been able to extract the Uranium and processed yellow cake. But only 300 grams as it is very very time consuming for a one man band. Cool.
