  • Today we're back on the Hunter Alignment rack with another custom alignment on some American Muscle, this time it's a beautiful 1970 Ford Mustang Mach 1, complete with 351 poking up through the shaker hood! Talk about head turning and iconic!
    Alright so, custom alignment time this is a car built for the street and to be driven on the street so we aren't going to get overly crazy on the alignment specs however we do want it to be fun and on the aggressive side of "street". You don't build an own a 351 4 speed Mustang just to putter around, right? A little adjustment here, some camber here, some toe there, and we're ready to ship it... or not!
    Just another day in the life here at Lucore Automotive, we are beyond thankful for everyone who brings these vehicles to us for our attention, sometimes they go in and out without a problem but more often than not we spot one or two issues needing addressed. That's the nature of what we do, and why we show these videos, also a big portion of why so few shops are willing to this kind of work anymore. It's a lot faster and more profitable to do the quick in and out jobs than this stuff... but where's the fun in THAT?!

    1970 front end but '70 didn't have the rear fender vents, that was on a '69. Something is up with that.

    Mine was the same color. Not a twister or a shaker. Aussie 2 barrel iron heads and a Kaase built cleveland. My first car. Dad put a way milder cam in it after driving it, will always miss that one.

    Beautiful Nasty Mach 1. I was 13 and starting high school then. Cars got the go and whoa, now the bushings next so it`s not sketchy. Once again, thanks for sharing a glimpse of the Classics you come across.

      The Mach 1 is for a lot of people one of the most iconic of the muscle car era. The look and styling is just about as perfect as you can get, the shaker hood rumbling to the bass drum coming out the tail pipes.. it's just so good!
      We are incredibly fortunate to get to work on and play with such a wide range of classic cars no doubt!

    I believe the twister specials were only sold around the Kansas area. Pretty rare

    These Mach 1 mustangs that are highly optioned are getting very expensive. Especially the Boss and CJ cars. Cars like this one are beginning to rise also as they get fewer and fewer survivors. Attention to detail and doing these classics right. Thanks for sharing this Rich.

    I just had to laugh out loud. “That idler arm is horrible”, yeah I’d say so probably makes it on my top 10 list of the worst I’ve seen, I know it was just loose hardware but still. 😂

      @LucoreAuto  Před 10 měsíci

      Certainly not something we expected to run into, when you are making adjustments, and adjustments... as you can see from the confusion on Rich's face. What in the HECK is going on? Oh... uhh.. that's not good!
      More often than not there's always at least a surprise or two hidden in all of these cars we dive into.

    69-70 Mach 1/boss cars and the cobra 2’s are the only mustangs I like. Is that a real twister special?

      Yes it certainly is a head turner, we all are fans of it. Needed a few bits here, and a few bits tightened there, but all in all dang good car anyone would enjoy having. Fortunately we know a thing or two because we've done a thing or two!

      Very very nice car, needs a few things here and there but she's a very nice ride and no doubt turns heads. We may see it again come spring time for some more adjustments ;)

      Honestly didn't get a chance to ask the customer, it's a pretty honest car for what it is, it's very possibly a true Twister. We'll probably revisit that topic when we see the car again for a follow-up

    Theres a company here in australia called K-Mac that does several variants of adjustable strut tops for capris that allows seperate camber/caster adjustments. I used the original strut casings on my fathers mk3 ford zephyr (very similar front end) to modify into cartridge shock coilovers and adjustable strut tops with their stuff. Worked out nice.
