@@maxdavis7722 yeah fairly local. Core centers of company power like bengal and madras did not rebel. Basically only contained in the northern plains and central India. Awadh, jhansi, Gwalior and other minor princes.
My point is that it was more than a sepoy mutiny though I don't agree with the name "First war of independence" either.
That’s the initial reason they revolted for until they announced their plan to restore mughal authority in India.
