  • Here are 5 short hikes with big payoffs near Sacramento California. This video I should say "near" Sacramento because a couple trails are a drive. Personally I don't mind road trips to awesome destinations; makes for a day of adventure. I say near Sacramento because Sacramento is where I live. Below I will list the trails and give the link to the individual videos I've made on them. Most of the videos dive more into each trail and what to expect.

Threes and why I like hiking here and Arizona as you can be totally by yourself and not have to see 1 million people all over the place yes it does get a bit hot but oh well great scenery wide open spaces

Thanks! These videos have been fun to make. I couldn't hike 1 week and decided to repurpuse old footage. I've been busy lately! I gotta catch up on your last 1 or 2! You'll see why I've been busy in the next video that comes out. Should be a fun adventure 🙂. Thanks again!

I think you can even get CLOSER to Sacramento, in time. Once this video "marinates" a bit longer, would be interesting to go back in the analytics and check for your "drop off" time (see where people stopped watching) because some of these hikes are not really in the Sacramento region (as you mention). You are getting swept up in the algorithm nicely though! 👍We have close friends in Avery whom we visit often. Pretty sure they are aware of Cougar Rock as they get out and hike often. We will have to check it out with them. Cheers! 🥤

I noticed a lot of lists online about "close to Sac" always shows Yosemite, San Francisco... guess it just depends if you like road trips or not 🤣. Cougar Rock is amazing! Definitely a workout for the views 😵‍💫. Thanks! These videos are fun to put together.

Great spring time hike close by is California Coal Fields which is located on a 150+ years old working cattle ranch home to three ghost towns yet the mine is still bringing yields of fine sand for making glass in Oakland. Many open trails with various views that pay off. There is a paid tour available for the coal mines tours but only open certain days and hours with a cost of $40.00. Ranger collects parking fee and entrance fee dog friendly, horse friendly, mountain bike park trails friendly so charges range accordingly, My use was a day hike with dog and paid $10. Map of the history of the miners days home sites and workings detailed however only real part of the three ghost towns is a grave sites and head stones. Lots of imported trees and plants brought over by the Dutch people to work the mines during the rush of California needs for coal. For San Francisco, Sacramento, Stockton aka city #1, City #2 or City #3 as named by the migration of incoming folks from all over the World. The Dutch folks never hit big pay so the trading was mostly done without money. When the town pulled out of mining they took out every piece of the towns including all the nails leaving the area void except for a very few porch steps made from cement mortar and bricks or iron railings. You walk main street with no buildings at all. I really enjoyed all the different trails that connect you with great views of Mount Diablo next park over or onto Lake Livermore houses Indian ruins. I think
the Indians worked with the miners and lived around the area. This park is not a State Park but is a Regional Park the entrance is just off Highway 4 just out of Pittsburg/Anticohic/ and if you blink might miss the small sign all together.
