- This mod restores Splitscreen functionality to the PC version of Halo: The Master Chief Collection, a feature that was originally removed from the PC release but retained on the Xbox version. That fact that a mod not only added splitscreen but also made it BETTER in some ways is incredible! I can't wait for future versions which work out all of the kinks.

PC games having split screen is surprisingly rare and I'm mad about it.
@@bland9876 I bought Tooth and Tail, Redout, Helldivers 1 just because they have splitscreen. Sadly didn't get much mileage out of them because they're too technical to pick up and play quickly.
They removed it for a reason. They did not want you to have it., obviously.
still ticks me off that the developers are just lazy, look at halo infinite and how that "coop" was also done by modders... finally I can rest easy thanks for this mod being possible now.

Modding community proves once again that devs simply do not care, not that they cannot do it.
Literally the code for Splitscreen is here in the PC version. All this mod does is reactivate it and assign controller inputs

@@gregorymirabella1423 Certainly can't, because that would take away from Xbox one of the only perceived advantages it has over a PC beyond the objectively low technical skill floor/ceiling.
As you can see, in this example, I have depicted here the PC player as the friendless coomer soyjak hermit, and myself as the xbox live social phenom chad.

This is great, holy shit. The default controls are a bit of a put off, since Universal Default SUCKS in Reach, but I'm eagerly looking forward to this.

Had to move back in with my parents a while ago after life hit the fan hard and all I’ve had to play lately is a steam deck. I can finally play Halo with my dad again because of this, just like the early 2000’s again. I cannot tell you how happy this makes me.

you only joked about Nucleus Co-op being bad but in my attempt to set it up, even getting its somewhat confusing configuration seemingly right, the multiple-views-in-one-monitor setup didn't work, and this was before I learned each game is entirely its own application instance and every single one needs its own Microsoft account to play. I find even one of those is too many but keep it in use out of necessity, even with burner emails I have no intention of making anymore.
I only wish this let you customize controls because the folks I want to play locally with like having controls different from the default, then this would be an absolute godsend.

looking forward to the controller remap for splitscreen players, I would love to change some controls. but at this point i cant complain as they have alot of different default ones that works really well.
This is the thing we needed added into all Halo games including Halo CEA and 2A campaigns (for up to 4 players!)!

Messed with it for a few, its pretty goated! I noticed that either player 3 mirrors player 1s crosshair position, or a KBM slot will mirror player 1s crosshair position, so along with player 2,3,4 dedicated controller layouts, I would also like to see the option to change the crosshair position manually, or have them ALL mirror player 1s crosshair position! Absolutely goated!

Really cool even though I don’t have extra controllers! The only issues I’ve witnessed from the little time I’ve spent with this is that my game audio goes silent and my customization goes back to default. But it’s real cool that this exists either way!

Holy smokes, Batman! No longer will I have to wait for Xemu to patch up for Halo 2 seeing through the floors or Xenia to patch up for smoother Halo 3 play on my deck.
I also installed Halo 2 on Xenia on my Steam Deck in order to play Splitscreen.
But now i no longer have to.
@@Priception I got to try it out last night with some friends on my steam deck while hooked up to a TV. It was just great playing the classic trilogy at 1080p 60fps with the old split screen slayer, juggernaut, oddball, and infection matches. Thanks for this video, because I pretty much only play PC these days, and I had given up on splitscreen for MCC. I wouldn't have known about this if it weren't for your video.

I just used this at a LAN party with a group of friends and we had some overall positive experience with it. But did have some problems.
We stuck mostly with halo CE. We had a mix of devices. Steam decks, ROG ALLYs, Xbox, PCs with this mod installed. On the PCs, it absolutely worked and allowed us to split screen just fine.
What we had trouble with was trying to assign people to a team. Say for example four people are doing split screen but we wanted to have everyone on one display be on the same team. There would be no way to force all players on the same screen to be on the same team and often times there would be at least one person on the opposite team on one display.
User error is a possibility, but I couldn't find anything meaningful about it in my search.

This mod won't be uploaded to steam workshop, as MCC doesn't support this kind of mod naturally.
Unfortunately, no, as this is a dll mod, which isn't supported on Workshop.

I haven't tested Cursed Halo. But I've tested all my mods, and others have tested Crash Site in CE, and they all work.
That's amazing ! I think the only way to mak it better would be to be able to use a second screen for the second player. Maybe one day !
This is absolutely amazing!! I have a technical question that may be helpful for those with multiple screens (including myself), is it possible to force the splitscreen 'split' to be vertical instead of horisontal?
I would imagine that this would be much harder (if even possible at all) due to being a new feature instead of just re-enabling an existing feature, but if it is possible that would be incredible!!
You can also play Halo 1 and 2 coop in 4 player mod which is new

@@abundancejourney8316 it still has not been added, but a temporal solution i found is to use the steam-input system in order to customize the controls.
It basically re-assigns the controller inputs to other buttons, so for example, the game believes im pressing A when im actually pressing LB
the only thing it can´t do is change the sensitivity

Make sure the resolution of the game is 1080p or higher. It's a visual bug in Reach.

It does work on Gamepass.
The downside with Gamepass is that it's far harder to play other mods outside of this one.

Is there a possibility for future releases to include the ability to adjust the split screen layout? For instance, I have an ultra wide monitor, so it would be nice to be able to do vertical split with two players. I know that the Xbox version doesn't have that with the native split screen, but I wanted to ask to see if there could be a possibility anyways.

Hey, I'm having an issue (and have a workaround for it!)
when i select 2 player split screen and enter the game, when i use the left trigger on one of the controllers, it will change the graphics, throw a grenade, and freeze the game at the same time. with the other controller, i can pause and unpause and the game will resume. This happens every time.
i've tried:
restarting steam/disabling steam input/changing steam input layouts/rebooting my PC.
updating controller firmware (they are both Series X controllers, using bluetooth, and they were already on the most recent firmware)
it happened to either controller, player 1 or player 2, which i think rules out a hardware problem.
I did find that, after loading a level in 2 player split screen, i went back into the menu and turned on a 3rd set to any input that isn't the one freezing the game (or none), the left trigger on the affected controller stopped having this issue!
another thing is the split screen interface doesn't disable inputs or pause the game like it says it does for me.
Hi when I launch Halo MCC on steam after installing the mod, I can't actually see the game, but I can hear the music. When I try clicking on the game at the bottom of the taskbar I still cant see the game, just my wallpaper. I was wondering If there a way to fix this?

Hey so the mod works great, it’s just when I spawn in, the keyboard player’s character keeps looking up and rapidly spinning, and I haven’t found a way to fix it, has anyone else had this issue?
I'm having issues with getting my controllers to work when I'm in split screen mod. Any idea how to get this to work? When I'm in split screen mode and I'm moving around with my main controller, I see my pointer cursor moving along the screen. I don't have any issues with my controller if I'm just playing solo

No worries. When MCC first came to PC, I was annoyed by no Splitscreen. So when i saw what Winter Squire was working on i jumped at the chance to help.
I used to (and still play) tons of BO3 Splitscreen on PC.
Is there any way to flip the split screen vertically so I can use both monitors for me and my brother to have a full screen each
I installed this mod and then the sound wouldn’t work when I actually went to play Halo 1 coop.
Everything set up correctly. The game menu still had sound when paused, but actual gameplay sound is off
I download the mod interface and mod itself but when i open the game I don't see it :(

@Priception im having a issue where the game freezes at the end of a leave while playing co-op halo ce. Toggling the alpharing menu dosent seem to work. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Its not the end of the world just a little annoying.

Hello, I have a graphic problem with my RX 580. Specifically with Halo Reach, the models look of poor quality and with white lighting. Any idea what it could be?
The problem happens when there are two players, when there are 4 there is no problem, when there are 3 players the one above has that problem.

@@Nethseaar If you're playing through steam, Remote Play should hypothetically allow you to bypass that check. Remote Play functions off of a game's split screen functionality, but sends everything to the other players through your internet connection. You'll playing split screen... from separate devices on separate networks.

Great mod! Altough compared to nucleus, it seems that the FOV isnt adjusting and in halo 3 mp the screens get side bars, gotta look around for a solution maybe setting a custom ultra wide resolution 50% of 4k the way nucleuscoop does it and maybe a fix for the limited fov other than this this is great!
Hey friend, I have a question, how do I play online with this mod or is it impossible?
I mention it because in order to play with the mod you have to start without the antichest so I try and it won't let me play online this way only locally

343i literally did that. The Xbox Splitscreen Code is still in there and working (that's what we're using). It's just that 343i blocked it off from the PC version.

You can't remap controls, but can you at least edit the XY sensitivity on controller t? That's really our main gripe - we increase the sensitivity but leave the other default buttons. We always play with Nucleus Co-Op, but definitely excited to try this and track its development.

How do you get Microsoft Visual C++ to work on steam deck. It's an .exe file & doesn't install. The spiltscreen pop up doesn't appear in MCC eventho I followed all instructions.
