I like the South Korean version, dunno why, but the vocal tone of the singer reminds me of pansori style singer, which I really love. But well, North Korean surely have its own style of singing which favour the high pitching vocal.

I usually love the North Korean versions a lot more. When it comes to Folk Songs or Traditional songs; I always prefer the North Korean version over the South Korean one (and eventually Japanese). This is not because it IS from North Korea. I base my opinion entirely on the quality of the song (instruments and vocalists, not the produced sound/video quality, because some North Korean videos have horrible quality here on CZcams, while they are fine on the the DVDs/CDs, but they are pretty rare)

South Korea > Japan > North Korea for me. I just prefer lower voices for this song.

    In my opinion: 1 - Japanese; 2 - North Korean; 3 - South Korean.

Doraji not traji. Korean versions better lol north and south sound almost the same melody. Its very fast pace. Japanese version is a version of south korean ,with a off melody. Eh. Lol but they all sound lovely. I'm korean , so I stick with my folk music and sing, and dance with such love.

Can someone explain the history behind why Japan has their own version of Doraji taeyrong? Is it because the song got popular under colonization..? Distributed through media?

To me, all versions are excellent, how about having the same type of comparison with one of my all time favorites, “ARIRANG”, by Jang Sa Ik:))

    Love North Korean version

  • @trinitybroadcastingnetwork4097

North Korean sounds better and authentic, with a tiny hint of modern and electric instruments. Also, her voice is far superior and more energetic than any of the two others. I feel like some of the people are biased by thinking they have to always support SK 100% and (blindly) thinking all aspects of music are better than those of the North. As a KimIlSungist myself, I am not exempt from this bias, but I at least give the other versions a chance, first.

All versions are just great, the Japanese version seems a bit more lively and up beat, the North and South Korean versions sound similar.
