  • This was my first proper run with the 500 since it returned home from being "seen to" by Jack and I'm very pleased ! Just need to find were it's happy on the chain.

    Great to see someone outside of western North American using a 3/4 wrap bar and proper dogs. I still don’t understand why they’re not more common in the rest of world or even the rest of the US. I don’t do this professionally but you don’t have to be a pro to realize that the egos of falling with a “west coast” saw are night and day superior.

    that saw likes to rev now!! A lot of them seem to have a weak top end stock in other videos. Sounds like it wants more than your typical raker set, too (which you already said, of course). It's sweet - sounds strong *and* fast.

    I've had my 500i for 3 months now and i'm pretty satisfied with it, however the materials are a bit fragile, last week it fell off a 40cm tall stump onto a rock and a small chip came off the starter housing and two months ago i bumped it into a rock and chipped the clutch cover a bit. Definitely more fragile than the 462 i've had for 2 years and abused with only a small crack on the starter housing or my 550 that i throw around with no visible damage

      We have had them here in europe since late 2018 and same reports here. They have focused on light materials, so i think that maby could be the reason.

    Seems like it handles Sitka nicely too.
    I could hear it bouncing off the rev limiter a few times. Still gets there quick.
    Let us know about your fuel mileage please.

      I was so impressed with your 572 last year that I went out and got one but now I am being teased with the 500i.I find the same problem with the 661 and the air cleaner but I came up with a simple solution by putting in a mesh screen made from a safety face guard inserted in the cold weather slot . It reduces chip intake by about 50 percent. Keep safe buddy and give us a shout whenever you are down tipped way.👍👍

      @@bobbymcgee227 I'm completely positive that, by this stage of the game, Dave is fully capable at getting his chain properly dialed in to handle - and handle well - whatever wood type/density comes his way.
      It's easy to sit easy to just sit behind a computer and create doubt. Heck, look at the media in this country.

    • @outinthewood3578
      @outinthewood3578  Před 3 lety +1

      Hello Kyle, hard to compare as my 375 is a step below this saw in work done. I sent the 500 over to get a saw with a bit of "balls" which I didn't think the stock 500 has, yes runs up fast but not so much in the mid range dept and hit anything like an included branch and it's a bit on and off on the throttle. Now I have a very good saw with bags of "power"

    • @outinthewood3578
      @outinthewood3578  Před 2 lety +2

      Really .....so a good saw running even better is not a good thing ? Cutting timber for a living is only helped by more efficient equipment . Thankfully I make a reasonable living so whatever it cost me to make my equipment more efficient is money well spent and of course as a work expense tax efficient . Perhaps you should take on board that just what you think is "right" is not for everyone and my choices are just that mine ...lovely word "efficient" !

      They already have all ported saws like from hotsaws101 or westcoast saw, or mertal creek, are all sold as part saws and "disabled" it is up to the owner to get it running again. So the builders aren't responsive for it.
