  • Deano's Diary 🙌🏻🎣 River Trent Barbel!
    When Deano organised a trip for the Guru gang at the renowned Collingham Wier on the mighty River Trent, we just had to take a camera! 🎥 The boys certainly got amongst the barbel, and we did our best to get amongst the action!
    Dean Macey captured the biggest barbel he's ever caught on camera, Adam Rooney broke his PB, Gary Newman managed a new River Trent PB, and Nigel Botherway sat back to enjoy the barbel bonanza sneaking out a few doubles himself!🔥
    It's off the cuff, the boys enjoying a social in their absolute element, giving away a few hints and tricks about big river barbel fishing along the way! 😎

    You be lucky to ever get fishing there due to the barbel mafia almost living on those pegs!

    why not fish a stretch everyone can fish instead of a stretch that's booked up years in advance?

    I really from the bottom of my heart hope you don't get the same otter problems we have had in Norfolk. The Wensum famed for once having a british record barbel is now completely devoid of any fish above 3lb. Trust me Ive spent the last 3 years baiting sometimes 14 different spots 10 miles apart for months and months on end only to cach chub of 2- 3.4 lb. Its honestly so bad Its like walking around knowing a secret that no one else is aware of. :( Ps my pb barbel is 17.10lb from the Wye in 2014, I know what I'm doing. Moved to Norwich in 2016

      The otters will die off from lack of food and the fish populations will recover naturally over time til equilibrium is brought.

      @tutts999 Před 2 lety

      My last Wensum Barbel was in 2001, I had four the season up 9.4lb . As you say the Otters have really left their mark, but I think the natural reproduction was also an issue. However in 2006 I went up the A17 for the first time and have had some of the best fishing you could wish for. I live within walking distance of the Wensum as still pop down hoping to get another local Barbel under my belt, but you really can't beat the mighty Trent.

    Really enjoy watching this bloke on some of his adventures, but at around 11.40 when he is resting the fish prior to its release, it seems like he is holding it the wrong way, ie not facing upstream ?? just looks wrong to me maybe i'm wrong ? By the way the Guru kit I've been buying seems top notch, this coupled with the instructional vids from Guru are just what I need as I'm getting back into fishing.

    Very good but it's colingham it's easy there. I will stick to the middle Trent were 8 or 9 splashers a session is harder to do

      Get on the Pride ticket Paul, Derwent stretch is good Barbel fishing and very peaceful, Trent becoming a bit of a circus.

    You can cast 6 or 8oz leads with a 2.25lb rod? I thought it was like 2.5 - 3oz.

    • @petertomo95
      @petertomo95 Před 4 lety

      I can cast a 4oz groundbait feeder packed full of groundbait about 60m using a 1.75lb tc barbel rod

    • @RunninWithScissors
      @RunninWithScissors Před 3 lety

      It's more of a lob than a cast, not trying to hit 100+ yards like the carpers.

      Nutrient rich water. Look up foam fractionators in aquariums for the answer.

    So sad to learn that this stretch of the weir will be buried under concrete to allow hydro power to be generated from the pool. Collingham AA fought for three years but ultimately lost. Very very sad and I hope the fish are moved as best the can prior to building commencing.

    Dean do us a favour go somewhere hard to fish instead of the easiest place probably in England to catch a barbel! Plus somewhere where an everyday fisherman can go fish not somewhere you have to book three years in advance unless your sponsored by a tackle firm or have some sort of fame!!

    @wypadnaryby Před 5 lety +1

    Why you show how catch barbel I Collingham on Cromwell weir on peg1 in this place everybody catching with use on hook anything 365 days in year very poor man show me how you catching in "wild" place no in aquarium
