Loved this video! I'm a foster carer so have tried my fair share of pushchairs, and put them through their paces with multiple children. Here are my views on 4 (doona, mountain buggy mini, egg and iCandy lime) you mentioned in this video:
Doona: Has been of great use with babies that have a lot of doctor/hospital appointments. I also love that you don't need to wake the children up to get them out the car, or the extra time it takes to take out the chassis, attach adapters etc.. However it is expensive and doesn't have storage on it which does reduce its use quite a bit unless for quick errands. I agree with you, I would personally go for a Cloud Z and baby zen in future.
Mountain buggy mini: This pushchair actually really surprised me! Even though it's aimed for City use, Its large wheels mean it can handle a lot of rough terrain. I bought it for park walks during covid and it was fabulous (we have a massive park near us thats basically like being in the countryside so it was very well tested!). The drivability on this thing is insane, you can practically push it with one finger, and it turns on the spot. Very easy to use one handed, and easy to tip to get up curbs. The only downsides in my opinion is the handle bar hight is on the low side (no issue for me at 5"2) and the basket is a bit small. I have heard that you can use the swift basket on the mini through so I might try that. The price on the pushchair is really good too. I would definitely recommend this pushchair, particularly to people who need a pushchair thats easy to use with little strength.
Egg: I've had two of these. They are really well built and felt very sturdy. Does also make them more heavy though so be warned. They feel nice to push, and actually fold pretty compact. I'm not such a fan of the seat buckle, and the fabrics on the seat are not removable which to me is a MAJOR drawback! I will say though the handle bar has always worked well for me though, and I never had any issues with folding or adjusting the height. Can handle a good amount of terrain too. However it is mostly a "looks" pushchair.
Icandy Lime: (I want to add that this was gifted to me, but I've tried to be as impartial as possible) In my opinion a pretty good midsize pushchair. Its well built, and folds pretty compact for the midsize market. The basket size is fab on this and is easy to access too which is a really plus. The ride on board is really clever, as it doesn't get in the way when pushing it but is great when you need it. I actually used it once with a 6 yr old who was waaaay over the weight limit, but we were walking back to the car from a theme park day out and you know they were tired so I let them hop on. I was actually staggered because I barely noticed the difference when pushing ( this was flat smooth pavement)! The elevators are great because as you said you can move the centre of gravity, which can really improve the handling of the pushchair. It should also be said that it comes with literally everything (car seat adapters, elevators, footmuff, carrycot, changing bag etc). Downsides are that its pretty heavy, the seat doesn't fold rear facing, the seat is on the smaller side and the bumper bar is a bit stiff. The font wheels aren't that large so this is more of an urban/suburban pushchair. It won't handle rough terrain, but a small park pathway is fine. Overall I'd sum it up as "practical" (if you live in an urban environment).
    Hope thats helpful to people!

Thanks so much for taking the time to write this and share your experiences! Your insights on the Egg are particularly interesting to me, as these are exactly the kind of things that are difficult to find out without holding the model - I agree non-removable textiles are a major minus. :)

Thank you very much for all the reviews!! You already saved us a lot of money. My husband loved the Cybex Priam because of a special fabric (the one from DJ Khaled), but i wasn’t sold on the durability vs price. Thanks to your review i was able to change his mind and are looking for a better, and less pricey, stroller. So thank you for all the hard work!!

What a great summary analysis! :))
We have the Doona and used it for our 2 kids, 21 months apart. Hubby and I are 5'8 and 5'4 respectively, so baby didn't grow that big too, and the Doona managed to travel with us (but as cargo) even when baby#1 was 20 months old and still less than 80cm tall, although I was worried about her comfort because her legs would dangle over the edge of the stroller by then. However, with baby#2 I do have to admit it got too heavy to lift out of the car for my weakening back much earlier than it did with baby#1. The lack of cargo was indeed frustrating, which meant we carried huge bags often, or, like most parents we saw, found was to hang bags low at the base of the handbars - not great for handling. The Doona is also v dependent on baby's general temperament. Our chill babies were able to stay comfy and chill in it mostly, but we saw people with struggling tykes who would fight while being strapped in - much trickier than in a normal stroller due to be tight fit which is required for safety.

We’ve been using a Nuna Mix (and now a Mix next since the original one has been stolen) for 18 months now and loves it. We’ve traveled with it (checked at the gate) and rolled it over pebble road, sandy gravels, very uneven cobbles, up and down steps in the park, and have to say it works very well for both baby and parents. It works for 5-3 grandma snd 6ft dad. The suspension made it easy on the kid as well as the pusher. We put a ton of stuff in the basket and have never found it unstable or hard to navigate. It fits fine in the back of Kia Soul. The shade offers great coverage and the removable insert is great for hot climates. The only improvement is I wish they offer a solution to cover the baby’s legs from the sun as well. overall I think it’s well worth the price as you get a lot of use out of it. :) hope this helps

I have a Colugo Compact and LOVE IT! It’s so easy to move around. My son loves it because it’s very open and he can look around him. A tech at an appointment loved it so much that she took a picture. It’s a nice stroller.
The brake issue is a problem. I’m 5’6 and have not had that issue at all. My husband is 5’7 and he does have that issue.
From the reviews I’ve read, the brake thing isn’t an issue for people who are 5’6 or shorter. People who are a few inches taller have been able to adjust their stride to accommodate for it.
I recommend it for average to shorter people.

Thank you so much for this . I really apreachiate the efort and time you spent on giving your impressions on so many models. I had experience of Peg Perego book plus ( had a stroller, carseat with base, and carry cot) I used it for two children and then sold it further for decent price. The reason i chose it i thought i need this stroller with swiwell weals and that can be folded with seat reversed . To be honest it was heavy for me to lift in car so i ended still taking seat on and off . I loved the carseat as my children could fit ther for over a year as they quite small and light . I still liked strollel it was not a cadiliak like emaljunga but i liket how mine looked i loved big shoping basket and nothing absolutly norhing broke. It got to travel around world, go to raugh terains and was still smooth. As one negativs for 2016 model i can say that activating alk mechanisms like folding and regulating backrest tik a forse to sqeeze levers. And i did not like fabrick or the flimsy canopy of seat unit. But it still hold on. That beeing said i still switched to maclaren texchno when my children where older and i did not go to regular shoping trips. My children loved to sleep in maclaren stroller it also has high backrest that was importam as starting from 2 yers my children started grow rapidly and now are twice the lenght of avarage child. I struggle to find for my 3 rd child something similar like techno that i can use from birth with carrycot. Mission impossible. Might as well go for babyzen jojo but do not think it will last more then 2 years as seat lenght is so short .

I’ve seen and used the colugo complete. Even after 6 months of going over difficult terrain it still feels tight. On the down side its handle is too long and it can be a little hard to tip. Overall I would recommend it.

I recently bought the colugo compact. I can say it is light weight and easy to fold and open. Comes with many accessories like a travel bag, rain cover and cup holder. Really easy to drive and seems sturdier and less likely to tip. However I am not huge fan on seat. Because of the fold it makes an awkward crease.

    • @viviawaag863
      @viviawaag863 Před 2 lety +3

The Graco is just as bad. I’ve seen over four models in person and it very cheaply made. And the wheels crack up for some odd reason. And it’s not infant compatible, unless you have a carrycot or soft cot (used with older models, like Quattro Tour), because as we all know, newborns can’t sit for too long at a time.

I used to work at a baby goods shop in Germany, we would recommend Teutonia a lot for people who wanted a terrain-capable stroller (although ABC Design was probably our biggest seller). It certainly felt sturdy and well made but I can't speak for the longevity of it.
The main plus point of the Joie Versatrax for me is the price. It's significantly cheaper than the Maxi Cosi Adorra or Cybex Balios S Lux, despite being a similar quality and having some better features. Plus you get the car seat adapters and (I think) raincover included rather than needing to pay ~€30 each for these, which is a big deal at this price point. That seems to be Joie's business model really - build cheap in terms of quality and longevity, but don't skimp on the usability features. Whereas other brands seem to go either cheap (including skimping on usability) or premium (on everything including price) or the focus is on looks/performance but not usability. Joie is sort of unique in that, and I really like it as a design approach.
Also, it's a small nitpick but European infant car seats, including the Doona, can often be used until approximately 1 year of age. It is a common misconception that they are outgrown at 6-8 months when the child's legs come over the end, but infants can often physically fit into the seats (we look at head position rather than leg) until 15-18 months, sometimes close to 2 years if they are small for their age. However most children prefer to sit more upright by the end of the first year, which is why I tend to say about a year's usage from infant seats.

I wanted to add that *technically* in the US you are supposed to go by head height as well, and that usually means you can go past the ends with legs. People just don’t read the manuals.
My infant seat goes to 32 inches, which is about the size of a 1-1.5 year old. Looking around, people in the US definitely don’t keep their kids in it to their full use. My son is 28 inches and I just stopped using his infant, and it *looked* like he outgrew it.

Just got the Colugo compact to compare to the Ergobaby Metro. Colu-No-go! Wobbly frame with 30 lb toddler inside and a shallow seat are my negatives. Compared to the same prices Ergobaby Metro, which feels study with a child inside, it was an easy decision. The only thing I dislike is the Metro’s folding button which is somewhat difficult to depress.
On the positive for Colugo are all the accessories it comes with which should be standard with all compact strollers (rain over, cup holder and a carry bag).
    Hope you find this useful.

      @gabygallas Před rokem +1

@@nicolepiccione5444 I just came back from a two week trip to Europe where it carried the Cosco Scenera car seat on the handle (using the back tether strap), a loaded backpack hanging from the handle via hooks, a small backpack in the basket and my 32 lbs toddler. It made long airport lines easy and maneuvering with lots of luggage a breeze. I most certainly had more weight on the handle than I should, so I made sure my kid was seated when the big backpack was on the back. But without it I’ve had zero tipping issues.
It can be a bit tricky to fold if you’re in a rush, but ones you get a hang of the slide button and the push button, and in which direction to fold once unlocked, you’re good.

You ask for people who have the strollers to comment below. So one comment on the Doona. It is a fantastic bit of kit. We have used it HARD for 9 months with our baby and it has performed really well.
We have a big mountain buggy for off-roading but we actually use the Doona as a pram in all urban settings. Obviously they can’t be in it for long as a newborn but since then we have taken it everywhere. As it is so dinky I get away with it indoors and the doctors, children’s centre, etc, where they usually ask you to leave prams outside. If he falls asleep in it then there is no worry transferring to and from the car (and he falls asleep in it a lot - he is much comfier and cosier in there than in the mountain buggy, the lack of suspension doesn’t seem to bother him, if anything it helps him sleep!)
I am a 5ft 3 weakling and have no problem lifting it in and out (baby is actually on the long and heavy side and it’s still fine). Doesn’t have any under storage but mine came with a bag for free that you can clip onto the handle and you can fit loads in it - certainly enough for changing and feeding throughout the day.
When we go away on a trip we don’t need a separate pram or separate wheels so we have loads of extra room in the boot of the car to pack essentials.
All the fabric parts are super easy to take on and off and clean in the machine.
We weren’t sure when we bought it if it would be worth the money but we both agree it was the absolute best investment we made for baby out of everything we purchased. I would highly recommend it for anyone who wants a little city stroller in addition to a big pram. Basically anyone who knows they will buy a car seat should consider it.

I personally love my Cybex Cloud, but am thinking of switching to Recaro Salia Elite, since they have a newborn insert, that makes them lie almost flat.

Great video! I have my eyes on the Inglesina Aptica XT and would love your opinion on that one. My concern is if something might have been overlooked in the creation of it’s brilliant folding mechanism. It seems to be super comfy and secure for baby and toddler. I will eventually need a stroller that can handle the northern weather conditions and even though Inglesina is not a northern brand I am drawn to the Aptica XT, claiming to have a good suspension and bigger wheels. @@BarnevognverkstedNo Hi again, since I have been traveling, both to Italy and Greece, I was able to have a look the Inglesina Aptica XT and it’s newest little sibling Electa. I hope it’s alright that I write you my short review. My concern about the handle on the Aptica XT was right, your toes will most likely kick the chassis while walking. And the only way to get it closer to you is to pull it higher, but with the Electa you can bend it closer. The footrest of the Aptica XT looked as if it was broken inside the store but I think it was not, the footrest of the Electa was much sturdier then it looks on pictures. To move the canopy is a disaster, for me at least, two huge “buttons” on each side need to be pushed and at the same time while pushing the canopy down. Driving the Aptica XT inside the store was surprisingly heavy almost like air filled tires running out of air, that’s how heavy. I am quite disappointed I have to say. Some parts of it are beautiful like the bassinet and good quality and other parts seem malfunctioning from the get go, like the footrest of the toddler seat. It definitely needs to find a balance there, and since it is a new model from Inglesina there is hope for improvement but by then it might be to late for me at least to have use for it.

go to 5:33 and you can already see how loose and fiddly the plastic parts of the folding mechanism of the Maxi-Cosi Adorra are. If that's what it looks like in the company's promo vid (!), you know what it's gonna look like IRL after only a bit of use....
I heard that the Teutonia Trio is heavy, bulky, and that the fabrics feel cheap. But I've not seen it yet to pass real judgement on it tbh. I've never been a fan of Teutonia's older models as they felt both bulky, heavy, and outdated, but I still see tons of them (probably hand-me-downs or 2nd hand) on the streets of where I live (Northern Europe), so I assume that Teutonia's older models were at least built to be sturdy and durable over time. I don't know if they compromised on the sturdiness in favor of looks with the Trio, but it wouldn't surprise me either. If you ever got ahold of one and did a thorough analysis on it, that vid would be highly appreciated!
I am mostly familiar with Hartan and Gesslein strollers, both companies whose ethics and products I really like (considered that their strollers belong in the upper middle price range). Would love if you could include some of their models in future videos of this kind.
I've also come across some models from ABC design, but I was not impressed. Looks-wise they are knock-offs of the Uppababy Vista, but they feel loose and both bassinet and seat seem incredibly small. How a kid is supposed to sit in there comfortably past the age of two is beyond me. But maybe that is done on purpose by stroller companies. Apparently a kid shouldn't be able to sit too comfortably in its stroller for too long, so that parents are forced to buy yet another product/buggy in addition.
PS: take a look at the ABC Design Ping Two. Wouldn't surprise me if it came from the same factory that manufactures the GB QBit, Maxi Cosi Lara, and Cybex buggies...

I absolutely agree with your comments about the Redsbaby Jive3. I own the Jive2 (older model, but minimal difference) and love the styling of it but am disappointed by the daily use. I downsized from the Silver Cross Pioneer and immediately lamented the loss of any kind of suspension and the massive shopping basket 😭 My main reason for purchasing the Jive2 over other models and brands was because the AirFlow fabric set seemed unique in the Australian market and suited us perfectly for those hideously hot and humid months in the tropics of Queensland (Cairns). We’re expecting our second baby in two weeks and I have to say I’m let down by the “tandem” capabilities of the stroller. I had originally planned to buy the tandem seat for my son, but the weight limit is not generous enough. He’s only two and already weighs too much for the second seat! We’ve opted to purchase the ride-on buggy board for him, but have noticed that it does get underfoot just a bit too often to be comfortable. Also, the handlebar does not extend far enough for my partner and I (I’m 5’11” and he’s 6’3”) and we constantly feel like we’re hunched over.
I’m saddened that there aren’t more summer-friendly strollers available in my region. Every time I’ve submitted feedback to Redsbaby about how they could improve usability for future models my emails have gone unanswered. In my opinion, they should focus on refining their pram designs rather than bringing out more peripheral products like the bassinet stand and high chair.

It’s such a shame - I feel like there’s always a compromise to be made even if you’re spending thousands of dollars; the Uppababy Vista V2’s rumble seat is rated for a lower weight than the main seat, the Cybex Gazelle S feels flimsy, the Silver Cross Wave feels like a freight train to push 😂 maybe I just need to design my own perfect pram!
