This was a Chinese singing show. He's from Kazakhstan, and was the only non-Chinese singer. This was his first performance, so they were just showing hospitality by cheering him at the beginning.
You've just scratched the surface. Dimash has a wide repertoire. Maybe try Ogni Pietra/Olympica.
He sings in several different languages. Off the top of my head, Russian, English, Chinese, Kazakh, Italian, French.
Dimash is my soul healer for over 3.5 years now. Can't live without his amazing voice and the emotions he transmits. His solo concerts are the best experiences of my life. There is a life before him and after him. And he is also a humble, beautiful soul.

That's a 17 year ambush. He'd been under professional training since 5 and was 22 at this performance. Che-che (thank you) was one of the few Chinese words he knew at the time. He always learns "thank you" for any audience. He is fluent in Kazakh and Russian. He has learned some Mandarin songs phonetically, which is a really tricky job, since Mandarin is tonal. He knows some English and his accent/pronunciation has gotten better in the last couple years.

Dimash is brilliant - but he’s still working towards his first PhD, in musicology, after obtaining a Masters in composition in 2020. (He’s not able to study full-time, owing to his numerous other commitments, but it won’t be too long before he’s Doctor Dimash, I’m sure!)

Judith. You must know you are telling lies here. There is no need to exaggerate Dimash's achievements. He is beyond awesome as he is.
(He does NOT play 12 instruments. He studied Piano and dombra, everything else is him fooling around, skillfully though. He does play the drums regularly in his concerts but just for good times. He has sung in 14 languages, that is true, although it's not a regular thing of course. He usually sing in Kazakh, English, Russian and Chinese, and recently added a Japanese version of a song in his concert repertoire. He absolute does not have 2 PhD's. He graduated in classical music majoring in bel canto vocals from music college, went on with pop and jazz vocals in university, did his master's degree in composition, and he's currently working on his PhD in musicology.)
Why do some Dears always feel the needs to exaggerate his achievements as if what he does isn’t enough already? He plays the piano, dombra and drums and he is still working on his first PhD in musicology.
One thing that I think was left out here which was instrumental (haha) in his musical background is that his mother is a classically trained soprano. Both parents were accomplished performers and won several awards in their home country. Although Dimash was primarily raised by his grandmother, it wasn't uncommon for Dimash to accompany his parents on their tours around Kazakhstan. Both became nationally recognized musical professionals and it's no wonder that Dimash is so talented. Gifted with amazing genes for sure that allow him to do the crazy vocal gymnastics, but that's only part of the story. The stars truly were aligned when this man was born.

His family are musicians. He has been surrounded by music his whole life. The stage is like a home for him, his fans like family, so he calls us Dears.
My one piece of advice as you begin your Dimash journey would be to not get tied up in genres. Dimash sings whatever he wants to, across all styles and registers frequently mixing genres within the same song. SOS is his "calling card," now and contains elements of opera, pop and rock.
He will continue to surprise you with every song and he will also switch up songs he has sung many times. The 2021 version he did for his online digital concert showed a new maturity as he never stops working on his voice and reaching new levels.

This was almost 6 years ago, he has in the intervening years become even more brilliant. Basically the entire standard piano keyboard is his playground. Vibrato for breakfast, staccato for a snack. So I highly recommend his newer music. A good place to find a lot of his songs with subtitles ( He sings in "13" languages, the latest being Japanese, ) is his digital concert which he produced during the pandemic, that had put a stop to his live world tour. His concerts are one of the best ways to really understand the power that he has on stage. I would suggest his New York concert, as he converses mostly in English there, a language he has learned over the last few years. He speaks Kazakh, and Russian, English and a minimal of Mandarin Chinese. He has a Master's Degree in Composition. He recently released his newest creation which took almost 3years to complete. Please wait until you have seen more of his work, before this one. "Love is Like a Dream" is a great place to start.
I think he's gone beyond singing in 15 languages now. Yes, he was singing at two, and learning to play instruments. But no one is more dedicated to practicing, learning, and even learning to dance because he felt his fans ("Dears") want to see that. He can do opera, folk, ballad, rock, rap, anything. He has advanced degrees in music and keeps getting, better and better and.... When I watched you reacting to Pentatonix, I was thinking, "Just wait till you hear Dimash!" I actually found him in summer 2017 when Avi was leaving Pentatonix and they weren't putting up as many songs on CZcams.
You have officially entered the land of no return! This rabbit hole has a bottomless pit but no worries you will be well taken care of by the many fans of Dimash called Dears. You just relax and enjoy the long journey ahead. On a personal note, one of my favorites by Dimash is his rendition of the classic, "Ave Maria" simply because it is so different and extremely difficult but you will be blown away by the sights and sounds that only Dimash can bring enjoy.
Did you see the article in Religion Digital? Dimash was praised so highly for this vocalise version! It's circulation includes the Vatican and he was lauded as a Muslim artist who by the power of this song brought people closer to God.
I'm not religious but I found it incredible that they thought so highly of him singing this new version of Ave Maria.

This was in 2017. You have no idea how he has improved as he still practices as much as possible and experiments with his voice. He can play a few instruments , sings many genres, including folk, pop, opera and even raps, dances, composes, directs, models etc. he can’t cook apparently lol. He swims regularly to improve lung capacity etc. but us ‘dears’ (what he calls his fans) love him for his humble, loving nature and his humanitarian dedication. No diva or ego issues with him.
Fun fact. When younger, Dimash's music teacher refused to acknowledge his minor achievement, causing Dimash to practice till he sang with flawless control.
This is a competition. It is live. He can also sing in a small room with people all around. When singing on stage he often waves the mic and it has an interesting effect. It is to prove he is singing live. Also, he sings his songs with differences so they are different each time.
He is incredible. People have a hard time believing this is real. But he has been studying music with the best teachers since he was a small child. That, plus boat loads of natural talent and years of hard work.
Dimash is also an ambassador for the peace in the world !!!
SOS is a French song and he sings it in French he does sing in Chinese he does sing in English ,Japanese, his native tongue. He is from Kazakhstan. You can also catch him singing in Russian. Twelve or thirteen languages that he has covered, "I think so far", I'm sure the number is going to grow.
The crowd was excited when Dimash came on stage because they had been pumped up just beforehand as this was the first performance on the first show of the season but Dimash was totally unknown to them....until he opened his mouth and started singing. He was entered as a wild card on a singing competition amongst already well known professional singers. He became an overnight sensation and has been a huge celebrity in China ever since. This was 5 years ago and believe it or not, he keeps getting better and better. You are in for a wild ride. Welcome to the world of Dimash.
You have just heard the greatest singer in the world, and his personality is as beautiful as his voice. Even if it is the same song, none are sung the same. He can sing any genre, and his songs usually have a very deep meaning. He will never cease to amaze you.
(Dee-mosh) is considered by many to have the best voice in the world today. He has an amazing range, can sing in many styles, in several languages, and is supremely humble. He is from Kazakhstan but is singing in French here. He was the only non-Chinese contestant...the wild card contestant and was up first. Controversially, he only came in 2nd place. Nobody knew of him or what to expect from him. He can sing from low baritone up into countertenor range and well into whistle note ranges. Keep going with this guy! Do Opera 2 next! Then after you've had fun playing around, get serious and do Ogni Pietra.

His fan base of millions he calls Dears are deeply loyal to him and for good reason. I would suggest you use Gloria Wu's channel for some of his Singer (Chinese Voice type show) performances as she includes the Back stories and subtitles in English. Many reactors use her videos. What you saw onstage is just a small part of who he is, and what he is here for.
Most people start at the I Am Singer Competition for Chinese advanced and famous artists where this was his first song, as the first to sing for the night, on this first night for the 2017 comp, and he was unknown to them, and was not expected to be good enough to stay. But this song broke Chinese internet with 6 or 12 million views overnight, and he woke up to having guards outside his door next morning. He stayed on in China for about 3 and a half years doing concerts and TV other shows, and won awards. Also he travelled back and forth into Russia for concerts and award ceremonies. Kazakhstan is independant of Russia but shares a border and has Russian as their second language.
Earth is not the same place since China showed him off to the world. Now he has fans in 140+ countries and his great love is fans and concerts. He calls his fans Dears as he considers them as his family.
He has a wonderful family and nation that have supported and trained him, and he is awarded as a National Treasure of Kazakhstan.
You will absolutely enjoy the Dimash express now that you are on it. It will run for a lifetime, and you will always experience a new view and sound.

Dimash is from Kazakhstan and believe me, you’ve seen nothing at all. In my opinion you have discovered the best singer in the world. He currently has a vocal range of 7,7 octaves (C1(B0) - D8 off the piano) At least what he has shown us so far. He plays several instruments like piano, dombra (a kazach instrument), drums, marimba and more. He has classical as well as contemporary vocal training and sings in different genres from opera to pop, jazz, Kazakh folk, ballads and he even raps a bit. And often he skillfully mixes several genres in one song. And meanwhile in 13 languages. The latest songs (from Tokyo Jazz Festival in November 2021) are Ikanaide in Japanese and at his concert in Almaty on September 23, 2022 he sang a new song in Spanish.
But many of my favorite songs are in his native tongue. He is a nice, respectful and humble person. He respects people regardless of their original, religion or profession. He truly loves his homeland Kazakhstan and his people with all his heart and always shows it with pride in many of his songs, concerts and interviews. During his concerts in Dubai, Düsseldorf and Prague in 2022, before he performed his song War And Peace, he told the audience he loves all people in every country. And I absolutely believe this. His concert in September 23, 2022 was amazing. He really gets better and better.
SOS was the first performance of the China competition (in 2017) and was his first appearance in this show. The song is in French. The Singer is a show in China where only established singers are invited to perform. All the singers invited to this show are already well-known artists in China who have already won awards. Dimash was invited as the first foreigner as a wild card and the youngest in the history of this show. . They became aware of him because he had already won some important competitions in Kazakhstan and Belarus, among others. He was still completely unknown in China. Actually, it was intended that he would only have 1 or 2 appearances. But it came completely different. When he woke up the next morning after his first performance of SOS he was a megastar in China and even found bodyguards outside his hotel room. SOS’ first video had 600 million views when it aired. He was just 22 years old at the time.

As far as I know, on this channel there are no copyright issues and there are English subtitles. And I always recommend switching them on. In some it is important to understand what the song is about. There are a lot of beautiful, sad and awesome songs to discover.
If you want to stay in this competition for a while I recommend the second performance, Opera 2, where his father was in the audience. However, Dimash knew nothing about it when he performed. You have to imagine, until this competition in China in 2017 he never was alone. As far as I know, he lived in one house with the whole family, grandparents, parents and a sister and brother. And now he had to go to China alone, didn‘t know the country, didn‘t know the language and up until then he (almost) didn’t speak any English, except maybe „Thank you“ and „My name is Dimash“. Only one interpreter came along and that at the age of 22. He was almost a kid to me then (my son is 19 so I can imagine…) And after that performance he saw his dad. Indescribably beautyful and emotional.
During the Opera 2 performance, he flirted with the audience in a way that wasn’t really his style at the time (fortunately that has changed in the meantime). And afterwards he said that he was really uncomfortable that his father saw him like that 🤭. Luckily he didn’t find out until afterwards because I love it when he’s like that on stage🥰.

A young guy from Kazakhstan, singing in French and he had the Chinese audience in tears. Recommend "Sinful Passion" as next song you React to. This show ("Singer") is exceptional. The audience is so supportive and the "Contestants" are all seasoned performers, not Amateurs. This was the first time the World saw Dimash. But, others, such as Hua Chenyu, KZ Tandingans, Jane Zhang, Zhou Shen, Super Vocal Boys, Jam Hsaio, Tia Ray are worth seeing.

And this is the 5th season of a Chinese Singing show, "I am Singer", where established singers compete and he was invited as a wild card. This song only shows the tip of the iceberg of his vocal prowess. He has been learning music since he was 5 years old. He's a multi-instrumentalist as well as a singer. This show was 2017 and Dimash was only 22 at the time. He barely knew English or Chinese, just a few phrases. To date he has sung in 13 languages.

Maybe they can make Putin listen to Dimash's songs while in the elevators and in the cars and in the planes. Have the messages enter and subconsciously on some low level frequency that really only is brain will receive. Putin hear it, but no one else will, and they will think he's crazy. They probably think he's crazy already but this most push those other ones over. He might turn into a loving caring human again. That would be the way to shut off the sound everyday. Be honest and caring for a month.

Welcome to the world of Dimash. You have no idea what this marvel of a man can do. This was in 2017 when he was only 22. Now at 28, he has only worked to get better if you can believe that. What is more is that he keeps working with vocal coaches to get even better! In 2018, just one year after this he did a performance called Sinful Passion. It is a must watch. Keep in mind that Dimash is only fluent in his native Kazakh and Russian with English becoming a fast third but sings in I believe up to 15 different languages now. He speaks a little Mandarin but can sing in Mandarin some of the most beautiful songs you have ever heard. He is impossible to put into a box because no box will fit. He does a host of genres, plays various instruments, acts, dances, and even raps. You want English, do Stranger which is from 2021 so much more recent. He performed it in Russia but in English. You will also see a traditional Kazakh instrument called a Kobyz with a master artist playing it who works with Dimash. It will send chills up your spine. Plus, you will see more of Dimash's range and yes, you only saw some of it with SOS. Top it off with Dimash being a very respectful, kind, appreciative and humble artist and you have a true gem of a person. He did do a sold out concert in New York at the Barclays Center before the blasted pandemic.

I have been following this wonderful artist for 5 years. Each of his performances, interviews, meetings. I have been to 5 of his concerts.
And I'm being honest. Dimash's live concert is quite different from listening to him on CZcams. He is one of the most powerful LIVE artists I know. You are sitting at a concert listening to the power of his voice, in the meantime he removes the microphone just for fun and his voice still sounds powerful.
He improvises, sings with the audience.
True Dears know his worth and can appreciate this wonder.
Others, find another artist to follow.
Dimash is for people who can appreciate real art, not talking in commentaries which song he lipsynced. Because all artists sometimes do it when the show or program format requires it.

This was Dimash's first performance at the 2017 "I am a singer" contest in China. He was invited as the only non-Chinese speaking singer and the youngest of the contestants (22 years old).
With this wonderful performance in French, he won over the audience, the other contestants and millions of Chinese who watched the show at home. This was the opportunity for Dimash to make himself known to the rest of the world.
Although he won second place, this platform made him a true star.

Dimash is his own genre. He was the first 'outsider' to be invited to perform on this Chinese show for Chinese singers. He's from Kazakhstan singing in French to a Chinese audience. How cool is that? This was really his international introduction and only 22 years old here.

Actually, these ones are from the Singer competition show in China in 2017. He'd just turned 22, he's from Kazakhstan. He was the first person not from there to be on it and also the youngest. Yes he's a competitor in it. I was lucky enough to find him then, and have been following Dimash since! He now has an 8+octave range, has sang in 15 languages, plays multiple instruments, and is almost fluent in about 5 languages now with learning English. I love to ask people like you to watch his performances from then til now and see the development. This was the first song he sang on the show and it's a French song. And overnight the views went up over 60 million I believe it was! And he could no longer walk around anymore. Anything else you want to know just ask, us #Dears will be here in droves! Watch, you'll see 🥰 🌹 and No matter how big he gets, he's so very humble, kind, caring,etc! And trust me, you barely scratched the surface of everything that is our beloved Dimash!
