- The meaning of “Brothers in Arms” rings true across more than just when we’re at war overseas, but when we’re fighting amongst ourselves.
When political and other divisions split us, we have to take a step back and remember that we always have more in common with each other than we have that is different. And we need to see all of our fellow human beings as the brothers and sisters we are, so we can live in a more harmonious society ❤️

71 years ago my uncle Marvin died at the battle of Chosin Reservoir in what is now North Korea. The US and UN troops were so out numbered and under such continuous fire that they were not able to take the fallen with them when they withdrew. My uncle was one of those left behind. But now, thanks to decades of diplomacy and the science of DNA, his remains have been repatriated and positively identified. He's finally coming home. His ashes will be interred in his mother's grave next month. It took a lifetime of continuing effort, but they finally brought him home. Like the lyrics in this song say, "You did not desert me, my brothers in arms."
Home Free is not recognized nearly enough. They are not just incredible musicians but also incredible human beings. They never shy away from issues, they keep the focus on people and how we should help one another. Love them.
Pentatonix realeased a version of "The Prayer" today (30/10) for their Holiday album. It was beautiful and with flawless singing. But there is a reason I more seldom listen to them and listen almost every day to Home Free. Home Free's arangements and harmonies outshines Pentatonix by far and has done so for quite a while. Home Free is on another level. They are the gold standard of a cappella singing and in my opinion the best music group in the world.
Great job covering our arrangement! And you beautifully colored the middle section with lush chords!🎶❤️ Maybe someday we’ll perform this together?🔥👏🏻
I'm sure there must be tremendous pressure to release new, original material on any band, but these guys have such incredible talent I want them to cover every song I ever loved to listen to. They improve everything they sing.
The song has lost nothing of its topicality, on the contrary, the message is more current than ever. It is very emotional. You guys did a fantastic job. Tim's and Chance's voices are so phenomenal! Wow 💥
This song has some real meaning with what Putin is doing in Ukraine right now.
I have always felt that Helplessly Hoping by Home Free has been the Gold Standard of A Capella perfection performances. But after listening to your audio version of Brothers in Arms from your Land of the Free album, to me it is the Platinum Standard of A Capella perfection. I cannot wait to see the video for the incredible and unbelievably intricate harmonies I am about to witness. Imho, you guys are the most talented, and have the richest harmonies of any band that has ever graced our beautiful planet. It is not flattery, but earned respect for you are the best at your profession. I hope someday the ACM will recognize Home Free as a rare gem of a country band, as Chris Stapleton is as a country soloist.
Oh man. As a veteran, this struck a cord in my heart and memories for my fellow brothers and sisters who paid the ultimate sacrifice, and succumbed to the mental wounds of duty. I was crying. Thanks for the tears. For the reminders of their memories.
Can't but think of the Ukrainian and Russian soldiers.
As an old warrior, (now disabled, and retired) that has been one of my all time favorite songs for many years. So glad you guys did it... and did it well. Thank you. Thank you so much. Memories are leaking out of my eyes, and running down my cheeks... I'm home, and I'm 'home free". Only hope to God we can stay that way...
Mark Knopfler is a genius lyricist. What a heartwrenching song.
many thanks to Mark Knopfler for writing such an emotional, powerful piece of music, performed well in this cover.........
I lost 38 brothers and sisters in combat. My father, a Nam veteran, died in 2012. One day, my older brother and I will be buried under Old Glory and laid to rest with our blood...our brothers, sisters, father, veteran grandfather and uncles who heard the TAPS play before us.
Someone make sure Mark Knopfler sees this especially with Tim and Chance taking the lead vocals. Great arrangement of one of my very favorite songs and so appropriate now.
Sick… just sick! Tim is otherworldly! Great to hear him back down in the “depths” again….rattling our souls and drowning our senses with “bass-ly” perfection!
In 1982 when this was written my husband spent 3 weeks on the QE2 on his way to the Falklands. He was injured at 2:30am on the day of the ceasefire and has suffered for 41 years. He returned to the islands 20 years later with lots of vets and they were blown away by the feeling of gratitude and love from the islanders. Thank you to all who served for our freedom 👏🏻🙏🏻
This is now my favorite Home Free song. As a 26 year veteran, this song resonates with me. I was in high school when Dire Straits Brothers in Arms album was released (one of Adam Chance's favorites 8-). I remember watching footage of the Falkland Islands War on TV in the early 80s. Here are my top 5 (SO hard to pick because all their songs are great):
This is possibly one of the most beautiful a capella pieces I've heard! The whole group nailed every part.
My life would be complete if I could hear Home Free singing "He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother"
