    What a coincidence, We took exactly the same route you two did and made the same mistake with the gondola. It started raining and was dark when we reached the top. We got to follow your route down as the sun was setting and in pouring rain with no rain jackets. What an experience!!! Thankfully you are always walking towards the village which lights the trail for the last 3rd.

      Ha! That sounds like a great adventure! Julia and I were just talking about it... she thinks there should be estimated trail hiking times on the trail map, and I was thinking they should put the Gondola's hours on the map to remind hikers to keep an eye on it. Fun times though! :)

    Hey-- great video! I live in northern VT, and hike up a lot of our ski resorts in the summer. Was thinking of going to Tremblant when I get the chance, since it's not too far. My knees aren't the best anymore, so when I hike up ski mountains, I take the gondola down. I'm curious if you remember whether there was a lot of steep downhill between the Edge summit and the top of Mt. Tremblant. Also, if you haven't tried it yet, Mt. Washington in NH is a mega-workout with the option of a van shuttle or cog railway down.

    The stabilization looks great, but just to be clear, this was internal stabilization+lens stabilization+a gimbal?
    The dynamic range seems very narrow so the sky is blown out
    I wonder if they'll release a log profile for this camera.

    • @ChrisProuse
      @ChrisProuse  Před 7 lety

      Yep! Yeah, the camera tends to blow the highlights when filming outdoors in its default settings. I found a highlight / shadow curve that you can adjust in-camera which I'm still trying to dial in :)

    Hello Chris, I came across your channel because I was watching a video made by Ted Forbes on his "Art of Photography" channel, and he mentioned you and provided a link to this video. He was talking about the Panasonic GX85W camera and said this video of yours is a good example what kind of quality video this camera can make. I think he said you use motorized gimbal with this camera. I think this video of yours is amazing so I would greatly appreciate if you could tell me what you used with this camera. I would like to make some videos with my Panasonic hiking here in Colorado. Thank you Chris and I look forward to watching more of your videos. :)

    Yes! That's my kinda hike. Lots of good 'ol "one foot in front of the other"...nonstop. I always enjoy the part of the hike where I start thinking about what I'll eat when I'm finished. You got there pretty early on this one...haha. What did the distance end up being on this hike?

    • @ChrisProuse
      @ChrisProuse  Před 8 lety

      Haha - that's so true! Usually about an hour into it we start thinking about food afterwards too. Just had a look at the trail map and it looks like the combined loop up to the top is about 10K, and if I had to guess, I'd say the ski run straight down the front is about 2.5K, so around 7.7 miles in total :)

      Yep! Truthfully, I don't mind using the in-camera mics for vlogging - they're not really that much different than what you'll find in most point & shoot vlog cameras. Since that video, I have added little micro-muff windscreens on the mics though :)

    How on Earth are you getting such smooth footage? I'm using the exact same camera (borrowing it from my dad) but I've only ever recorded with an iphone. With this Panasonic Lumix GX85 any movement on the camera is really choppy. I've tried upping the shutter speed but even from 1/125 to 1/1300 I still get the same result shooting it in manual mode and shutter priority. Do you have any advice? What shutter speed are you using here? I must be missing something pretty obvious :(

    • @ChrisProuse
      @ChrisProuse  Před 7 lety +1

      Hey Devin, thanks for watching! This video was filmed while also using a PilotFly H2 3-axis gimbal... you can find out more about my entire filming rig in a video I posted a little while ago titled "How to vlog with a 3-axis gimbal". I hope this helps! :)

    • @devinhuang8329
      @devinhuang8329 Před 7 lety

      Thanks for the reply! I actually meant something like if my camera was completely stationary and I walked across the screen in the shot, my walking movement would be jittery. I've tried turning the shutter speed higher but it still seems to have this jittery/choppy movement :( None of the walking in your video seems choppy or jittery so I was wondering if you'd have any advice on this issue?

    Love your CZcams channel. Quick question (all the other way from the other side of the world). When is the best time of year to hike around Tremblant? We are looking at coming over in September.

    • @ChrisProuse
      @ChrisProuse  Před 7 lety +1

      Thanks Craig! The bugs are usually gone by early-to-mid August, so September would be a great time, especially if you want to do some swimming or cycling in the area. Hiking during the fall colours (towards the end of October) can be really nice too, and you'll generally stay pretty warm while hiking up there... though if you're looking for that summertime vibe, I'd totally jump at early September :)

    • @ChrisProuse
      @ChrisProuse  Před 5 lety

      Thanks DK! I'd recommend heading up Tremblant's Nansen run - it's a green trail that runs up just to the right of where we were hiking through the forest, so it's a little less intense. There are shorter, more direct routes to the top of course, though they're more challenging blue squares and black diamonds. I'd say Nansen's about 5km to the top, and I'd recommend taking lots of water :)
