yes agreed !!! it curbstomped the arcade version .. infact the only version to come close was possibly the c64 version.i do mean not THAT close :) my favorite being 4:16 played very loud :)

@@TyTye The arcade OST is also on CZcams.. The Genesis version is richer, actually imaged in stereo. I noticed it back in the day, too. A case of a better-than-arcade port

I never owned this game back in the day but I remember the twisty handle arcade machine, i'm very happy to just discover that the Mega Drive version has some of the best game music ever, this is god tier stuff!

A part of the first track clearly remember the main theme of Space Harrier, but it is still a great composition.

No, the C64 has a better version of the music than the Arcade. It also sounds less cheesy than the MD version, has better drum tracks, and is more driving than the MD version. Mind you, it's down to personal taste as to which of the two is better.
The First Formidable Enemy ... A name for a track that screams "You're fucking with the big leagues now."
This game was a beast in the arcade, some say its apart of the Heavy Barrel series but that's to be determined.
Anyway Midnight Resistance biggest port flaw was the controls, the Arcade game had the 8 way twist action joystick for aiming the players gun while moving. this did not port well to the Genesis.
I think if they would have captured that somehow this game would have been a much bigger home classic, as of now it is still one of the best sound tracks on the Genesis and this was also a pretty early released game too.

I don't have this one yet, but I'm curious as to how 2 BGM tracks spread across 8 stages, with a dedicated final level track. This is good stuff, but it seems a bit light on content. Did they alternate the songs between stages?

@@komocode I also have the Model 1 and I have it connected to a stereo receiver with two speakers and a subwoofer and it sounds kinda the same. Maybe this sound more "muffled" and when I play it through my set up it sounds cleaner but still with that Mega Drive/Genesis low-end. One of my favorites to test out my sound system is Biohazard Battle. Sounds fantastic!

The sound emulation is not entirely accurate unfortunately.
If only they replaced the FM snare with a PCM soft snare! Same with a lot of Megadrive games. Technosoft are the worst offenders!
