A lot of people in Jamaica do not understand the impact of roots reggae in Africa. Roots is not just music for me and people who grew up like me, it is a kind of religion that has come from Jamaica straight into our souls. I was at this concert and I can tell you it was a spiritual experience. People did not come for a concert, they came to listen to a prophet. A lot of us were raised on the message of burning spear when we were growing up and to see him live-grown men, tough outlaws, were actually crying just to see him before he even opened his mouth.
Mzee kaa Burning Spear-hizo message zake lazma ziendelee kusikika, zizidi kuhifadhi maisha za masafara. Mungu ampe miaka na miaka juu kuna watu kibao wanategemea hizo ngoma ukweli.
embe, thanks you for speaking the spiritual truth about trench town reggae. The spear always bring that with him. jah bless.
embe1 God bless you
What I like about this Jamaican (that is in the end African music) music makes African People proud of themselves and believe in themselves to become a progressive nation and that one day things can be better for us... What was recorded in Studio 1 in the early seventies alone is enough for that. Although some Hi-Fi equipment are need to appreciate the bass which is at the roots of this music...
embe1 Kenyans love roots and culture.
Rastari is much more prevalent in Kenya than even Ethiopia or Uganda or Ghana.
Winnie Mandela said that Reggae provided the soundtrack for the struggle in South Africa.
I can not stop crying while looking at this, the love of Jah is far more profound beyond anything else ❤️❤️❤️
Jah no dead. 🇰🇪🇰🇪❤️💓
Me too.
kenya and jamaica look almost the same to me 🇯🇲🇰🇪🤝❤️
No doubt mau mau

What a strange comment. Don't you comprehend Mutabaruka's message "no matter where you come if you black you are an African"!
@@sterlingrock7769 that s a quote by the all time great Peter tosh 🙏🏾🙏🏾🧘🏾♂️✊🏿✊🏿✊🏿
even dough i'm white; Reggae is/was/will be my favourite music for ever ! I have a lot of respect to the Black People and their culture :) if someone would ask me what the definition of "wonderful" was, i'd send him this link to show him how satisfied and happy people can be even without lots of money, or pc-games and all that crap !
i hope some people share my thoughts =)

Respects to Burning Spear & Jamaican Reggae .... Greetings from Western Samoa . Malo
today is 4/9/2019...12 years ago when Burning spear was performing in Kasarani Nairobi kenya I was there and witnessed the big day...big up
I was privileged to be here to see and hear for myself the greatest roots reggae artist burning spear.
Burning Spear is a Prophet, Spiritually, Mentally and Physically. I am very proud to hear the comments made by our Kenyan Brethrens interviewed in this video. Lovely to see the "Natural Dread Locks" children (Samson as described in the Bible, Strong and Powerful Nazarene, betrayed by a foreign prostitute, Delilah) only found in Africa, dancing to Jah Jah's music. As told by The Master and Saviour: "The Stone the Builder refused shall become the cornerstone....".... Matthew 21:42. It is our Brethrens and Sisterens sold to the wicked ones to carry away into captivity, that are going to return and finally "FREE AFRICA" from it's mental bondage. Burning Spear is a Living Proof of this Prophecy. Jah People's music reign High and Mighty in Africa, where.... JAH LIVES.
am kenyan based in the u.s and i love burning spear wish i was at that concert.
In 1988 me a friend and my girlfriend traveled from Long Island New York all the way to New Haven Connecticut then we took a train out to the boondocks to see Burning Spear I wish I could remember where it was but I just remembered having one of the best times of my life it was memorable to say the least.... it was amazing

He is a legend
Classic and epic Burning Spear concert in Africa(Kenya). It brings back the memory of the great Bob Marley's historic performance at Zimbabwe independence celebration in 1980. The genesis of the African music that lives on despite 400 years of force separation.

And the founding father of our nation H.E Mzee Jomo Kenyatta (r.i.p) was nicknamed Burning Spear.Maybe coz of the facial resemblance and the beard.
