香港開埠初期，「太古」這個地方名還沒有出現。不過，自於百多年前，太古這間老牌英資洋行在?魚涌興建糖廠與船塢，把這一帶孕育成港島其中一個最富裕的地區。
若你經過太古城的太豐路，會發現一塊擁有百年歷史的太古船塢奠基石，它見證著香港造船業的興衰成敗。曾在船塢當過學徒的大學工程師盧覺強，及附近筲箕灣船廠東主，親述昔日種種輝煌歷史。
盛載著香港人不少集體回憶的太古汽水廠，也是源於?魚涌這塊土地。儲汽水蓋掩送大禮、全港搖搖王大賽等推廣意念，一次又一次掀起全港熱潮，箇中不少鮮為人知的故事，仍叫人聽得津津樂道。
今天，糖廠和船塢的原址已變成美侖美奐的商業大廈和中產家庭屋苑，但附近那超過半世紀的舊有員工宿舍，依舊存在，裡面還住著不少前船塢及糖廠的東區人，他們仍能口述當年那段已經封麈的太古歷史。

這間公司好離譜，幾乎包食包住，包子女教育，仲幫埋置業退休，原來萬惡資本家，先至攪社會主義。
我7O後就是讀太古小學：今日先知太古小学原來咁耐歷史學校禮堂7O年代仍然無變^現在2O世纪太古小學已經改變建築新的太古小学
我們三代人就係住在太古船塢太字的宿舍，因為以前住這裡真係風涼水冷。
太興？對住水塘，即現時康景。
因為向東南，夏天晚上吹來的山風特別爽。
我都覺得以前啲老細比較有人情味，而家啲，不提也罷，心照。
尤其是太古老細，英國佬，對待中國人比中國官員對待自己同胞更有人情味，在船塢，糖房打工都獲配給宿舍，各方面都比政府的徙置區好。

例如我祖先係新界人，聽啲祖先講 從前啲人講緊幾十年都只係自己條圍村居住，連九龍都近乎未去過，大半世人都係自己條圍村生活，因以前交通無咁方便

It was during the 1990s when the so called "HK civil servants" that then came in and screwed things up. Even then.. yes.. if you looked at it from the angle of the British, they might think that it failed to create an actual political system in place. But after translation.... if they knew that, the people who were running the show wasn't even the actual indigenous people... that is.. the Imperial Chinese that were living there, and actually grew up there as well. Cos why... Britain only documented the areas and the land, that WAS part of their governance, and even the people today, doesn't know this.. and does not even accept this as well ???? And so now the greedy civil servants with foreigners, and HK trader citizens and their families, who settled, wanted to expand and more. Overriding, and trying to court other region of china.. and the PRC and bring their troubles into HK as well !!!! Now THAT is off limit !! Or should be off limits !!!!!!!!! If they want to invest, then invest in their soil. And remove their investments in HK.

英國佬的太古船塢，糖廠，對華人員工算係非常不錯。

以前 以老字號為榮 老闆對老伙記 有感情 現今大老細 把所有事情都給中。高層打理 老闆只求業續 中高層為求節省成本就向下員工 打壓 中高層就可以得到更多的賞金
This was created in 2012 ??.... I never knew that Swire did so much actually in HK... While this was going on... those of us.. like my dad.. who then worked in the ships... and managed to get to the UK as well... same as my grandfather too. And you can only land... when really.. you were related or were part of the relatives... Or maybe from this angle.. it keeps families together and the unity.. and on another level.. it is a kind of monopoly as well. Now I get why.... what is going on. In the UK.. there was a monopoly company that is owned by the states as well called "British Sugar".. and commodities were just that.. a way to exchange things too. Like.. how tea leaves used to be shipped across the globe.. cos Europeans thought that it had medicinal properties. When the national companies collapsed or folded due to citizens' wishes and such like... when those stock lands in the UK. It then gets sold onto the different stores or distributors... Names like Lyle And Tate... is quite famous too.

富己亦惠及社福，很好的年代。為咩現今嘅＂黃皮膚自己人＂李氏或政府一D都無長遠考慮過做到隻＂劇＂嘅火記及香港人。
果時政府福利好得過現在咩?
@@mingkeiho自2000年6月1日起，入職嘅公務員已無長俸，只有公積金，年假亦比以前少了一截，退休後亦冇得免費睇政府醫生，當然這是世界潮流，英國都係咁，以前讀書話科技進步，生產多咗嘢，物質生活會好啲，原來唔係。

@@mingkeiho咁點解公務員嘅退休、假期、醫療都比以前差？上世紀六、七十年代嘅大公司如匯豐、恒生、國泰、中電、太古、怡和等嘅員工，都有如公務員，有增薪點，而家只係按人力市場需求去調整每年嘅薪酬？

感謝小編提供這樣優質的影片...我想最後要感謝的是之後來香港的新移民..也就是來自中國的人...為香港再次創造了新的經濟奇蹟...並且打敗了英國...英國人原先有破壞香港計畫...但後來被中國領導人看破...所以香港在1997之後又快速發展起來..讓很多英國人和美國人當場吐血而亡...之後在2020年...英國人和美國人又再次搞破壞...還好又再次被中國領導人看破...現在香港的人民...各各安居樂業...經濟更比被英國統治時便好...身為香港仔很感謝中國的協助...因為我們都是中國人

I just finally clicked and pieced together what the hell is going on ? Cos now, they have a green bond and basically dominated everything... and that is why they now vet the entire media sector as well... meanwhile.. shielding away the world from the mainland and HK as well.. So then, they could continue to money launder, without actually any monitoring from other countries any more. THAT is what is going on !!!!!!
