  • In this one, I rebuild the front suspension on my high mileage BMW 320td e46 Compact. I'm upgrading the control arm bushings to polyurethane and also replacing the inner and outer tie rods.
To install the Powerflex bushings I had to purchase an additional set of rubber bushings (second-hand) and press them out to press in the poly bushes, as seen in the video. It was done this way because, in my case, this was the cheapest way of doing it.
I also replaced the tie rods because at least one of them was slightly bent, causing a 5º toe angle difference in one of the wheels. As a result, the steering wheel wasn't set up straight and one of the tires was wearing out quicker than the other.
After finishing this job, I went for a wheel alignment and I'm pleased to inform that FINALLY all the wheels go straight. Except for the -1'25º of camber at the front, but you know - racing stuff.
Having all of the required parts, the job can be done in half a day.
